Chapter 938 The Soul of Omelette Rice

The steaming curry rice exudes an enticing aroma, stimulating the taste buds.

The metal spoon made a crisp sound as it touched the plate. Uncle Maoli scooped up a spoonful of curry rice, blew on it to cool it down, and then put it in his mouth.

"This curry tastes amazing!" Uncle Maoli exclaimed, praising the curry. "It's just like the curry in a high-end restaurant!"

"It tastes really good." Guangyou nodded in agreement after taking a bite, adding, "The spiciness of the curry is just right."

“Yes,” Uncle Mori said after taking another bite and swallowing. “This flavor of curry is exactly my favorite.”

“But since it’s spicy, Conan, you can’t eat it.” Kōyū said, glancing at Conan who was watching them eat.

"Otherwise your throat will hurt even more."

“…” Conan glanced at Kyouyu, wanting to say “I know, thanks for reminding me,” but due to his throat, he didn’t speak.

"I'll make you a bowl of omelet rice later," Kōyū said while eating his curry rice, oblivious to Conan's expression.

"Hmm." Conan's expression turned a little awkward upon hearing this, but he didn't speak because of his throat, and just responded with a sound.

"Mr. Akashi, your wife's cooking is really good." Ran didn't notice the details of the previous conversation, nor did she think too much about it, and just praised her.

“Actually…” Hiroto Akashi stopped what he was doing and explained, “I was the one who cooked this curry. My wife passed away from illness three years ago today.”

He spoke casually, but the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat heavy after everyone heard him.

"I'm sorry." Xiaolan apologized for unintentionally bringing up this sad topic.

“It’s alright.” Akashi Hiroto smiled at Ran, indicating that she didn’t need to worry, and said, “It’s been three years already, I’ve long since let it go.”

"So, Mr. Akashi, you came to the tennis court you remember because of this..." Sonoko said halfway, then stopped.

Finding shared memories with your loved one is so romantic.

"However, I also have experience in preparing dishes based on the physical condition of the players when I was a tennis coach."

Clearly not wanting to continue on this topic, Akashi Hiroto picked up the plate of curry rice and said to the group.

"So my cooking skills are probably a little better than my wife's."

"I see." Xiaolan and Yuanzi understood this as well, so they didn't ask any further questions, but simply responded in agreement.

“You say you’ve already let it go, but actually…” Guangyou lowered his head, eating the curry rice on his plate, and gently shook his head.

"I'm going to deliver curry rice to my father now. If you're not full and want another bowl, just help yourself," Hiroto Akashi said with a smile.

"Please don't be shy, everyone. There's still a lot left in the pot, and I can't finish it all myself."

“Okay,” Uncle Mori replied.

After saying that, Akashi Hiroto carried the tray upstairs.

After Akashi Hiroto left, Sonoko sighed, "Mr. Akashi is really devoted; he hasn't forgotten his wife even after three years."

"It's such a pity." Ran's focus was completely different from Sonoko's. She sighed, "Mr. Akashi's wife got a terminal illness at such a young age."

"That's true," Sonoko sighed.

"Alright, you two, focus on your food." Uncle Mori waved his hand holding chopsticks and said, seeing the two of them like that.

"Stop commenting on other people's family backgrounds; after all, we can't change them."

"Of course, if you can bring Mr. Akashi's wife back to life, then pretend I never said that."

"Oh." Xiaolan and Yuanzi composed themselves and lowered their heads to eat.

"To bring the dead back to life..." Kōyū put the last bite of curry rice into his mouth, frowning as he pondered something.

In Itakura Taku's diary, he mentioned Bayonetta's classic line:

“We are both God and the devil. We want to reverse the flow of time and bring the dead back to life.”

Why did Bayonetta go looking for Itakura Taku?

How can we reverse the flow of time?

How can the dead be brought back to life?

If he could truly bring the dead back to life, could he also bring Ai's parents—Atsushi Miyano and Elena Miyano—back to life?

This is what Guangyou is thinking right now.

There were several moments when Kwang-yu really wanted to see Bayonetta and the others successfully "reverse the flow of time and bring the dead back to life."

Although Kōyū doesn't understand these things, he can guess how difficult it is to do such a thing.

Leaving aside the question of whether the dead can be brought back to life, even if they could, the Miyano couple have been gone for so many years, the hope is probably very slim.

Perhaps he's overthinking it.

"What are you thinking about?" Ai noticed Kousuke's unusual behavior and asked softly.

"It's nothing." Guangyou shook his head and said with a smile, "I just remembered the dream I had a couple of days ago."

I'd better not tell this girl about this.

If one day he really can bring the Miyano couple back to life, then we'll see. Consider it a surprise for this girl.

"Oh." Ai didn't ask any further questions.

"By the way, Ai, are you full?" Kōyū glanced at the empty plate in front of Ai and asked, "Would you like another small bowl of omelet rice?"

"I'm already full," Ai shook her head, indicating that she didn't need any more food.

"Then come and help me out later." After saying that, Kōyū picked up the empty plates he and Ai had left and stood up from the ground.

After getting up, Kōyū looked at Conan and said, "Conan, wait a little longer, I'll go prepare your omelet rice now."
