However...
The plan was good, but reality was harsh.
Before Conan's "claws" could even reach into the corpse's mouth, a hand reached behind his neck and another reached around his waist.
Conan was completely unaware of all this.
In his eyes, there was only the corpse's slightly open mouth, emitting a foul odor, as if a greedy person had seen money.
Just as Conan's hand was about to slip into the corpse's mouth, the two hands descended, reaching their intended destination.
One hand was grabbing Conan's collar, and the other was wrapped around his waist.
Subsequently, the distance between Conan's outstretched "claw" and the corpse's mouth grew further and further.
At the same time, Conan's distance from the floor increased, then decreased again after a few seconds, until he finally landed back on the ground.
Meanwhile, Conan was already standing outside the room again.
In less than a few dozen seconds, Conan was back to square one.
“???” Conan stood outside the room, staring at the corpse that was still several steps away from him inside, and paused for a moment.
At this moment, several large black question marks seemed to appear above Conan's head.
Has he been singled out?
The officer's next words confirmed his suspicions.
The young police officer dragged Conan out of the room. He frowned as he looked at Conan, who was standing dumbfounded in the doorway, and said:
How could you touch it with your hands!
“Yeah, how could you touch it with your hands!” Kōyū pulled Ai out of the room and agreed earnestly.
Although he looked serious, Conan could detect a hint of schadenfreude in his voice.
In fact, Conan wasn't mistaken; Kousuke was indeed gloating.
Who told Conan to reach out and touch the corpse without even thinking of a reason?
They deserved to be singled out.
If it were Uncle Mori, he wouldn't need a reason; just saying "I need to investigate" would suffice.
This would work with the larger version of "Shinichi Kudo," but not with the smaller version of "Conan."
"Well..." Conan glanced at Kouyu, who was smiling, then looked away and gave the police officer an awkward smile.
He hadn't figured out how to explain it.
However, there was no need for him to explain. The police officer had no intention of pursuing the matter and simply said, "Alright, you should go downstairs now."
“We’ll leave right away,” Guangyou replied.
Having received a response, the officer turned and went back into the room to continue with his own work.
"You've seen it, haven't you?" Conan didn't dwell on the fact that he had been dragged out earlier, and turned to look at Kōyū, asking.
Whether his ideas are correct or not is more important than whether he himself is singled out.
"Yes, I've seen it." Guangyou nodded.
"That tooth was just extracted not long ago," Ai said calmly, stating the conclusion she had drawn from her observation.
Instead of explaining what she saw, she stated her conclusion directly.
The answer was very concise.
“If that’s the case, then it’s very likely what I’m thinking.” Kōyū said, recalling the scene he had previously imagined.
The image he had previously imagined was: Akashi Takeo being hung up by the murderer, his hands tied, and something stuffed in his mouth.
It's very likely that Akashi Takeo had something in his mouth before he died.
Because of biting so hard, the tooth fell out after the force was exhausted.
If he wasn't mistaken, there should have been a handkerchief between that mysterious object and Akashi Takeo's teeth.
That's why there's curry on the handkerchief.
The reason the murderer made Akashi Takeo bite that thing through a handkerchief was probably to avoid leaving too obvious traces.
Although there is no evidence to prove it, Guangyou thinks that this is probably the case.
Upon hearing this news, Conan's brows relaxed slightly, and he muttered to himself in a hoarse voice, "Just as I thought."
"Alright, now that everything's settled, we should head down." Kōyū turned around, intending to leave with Ai.
The two of them left, but Conan remained where he was.
After confirming his idea, Conan, for reasons unknown, began to explain it to himself.
It's like a narration explaining things to the audience or readers in an anime or comic:
"If the tooth was extracted a few days ago, then his gums should have receded to some extent..."
"But judging from the current situation, his gums should not have receded."
In other words...
He had just finished speaking when Guangyou, noticing that he hadn't left and had returned, suddenly interrupted, "In other words, that tooth was pulled out not long ago."
“That’s right.” Conan glanced back at the corpse in the room and said seriously, “If we’re not mistaken…”
"Then the modus operandi in this case must be like that!"
"But why?"
"If that's the modus operandi, that thing should definitely be in the room."
"But why couldn't we find it?"
“It’s normal that we couldn’t find something as small as a tooth.” Kwang-woo knew what he meant by “that thing”.
In order to establish an alibi, the murderer could not have been in the room waiting for Akashi to die when Akashi died.
Instead, they will stay with them.
In other words, the murderer didn't have time to clean up the scene.
With Akashi Yukio's death, the teeth that were forcibly pulled from his mouth will also fall into some corner of this room.
