The three entered a room, a huge room filled with various items scattered around.
“I remember during the day, that Nobleman Mamiya said that he used this place as his art studio,” said Kōyū, looking at most of the art-related items in the room.
The three of them split up and searched for clues in the room.
Ayumi seemed to have noticed something and called out to the other two, "There are a lot of newspapers here."
Finding newspapers in an art room is perfectly normal; they're often used to wrap paintings and clean brushes. However, this isn't an ordinary art room; it's located in an ancient castle filled with various secret passages!
Despite her ordinary appearance, Ai's spirit of not overlooking even the slightest clue led her to pick up the newspaper scattered on the ground and take a look.
"This is a report about the fire four years ago. Fifteen people died in the fire. The flames burned their bones to ashes, and they can only be identified by the remaining belongings. Currently, only one person is still missing."
Looking at the newspaper report, Ai said with certainty, "That person must have switched identities with someone in the castle."
Guangyou stretched and said, "It's probably that old lady. She has bad legs but can still walk, and she walks quite fast."
Suddenly, a strange sound reached the ears of the three. When they went outside, they found that a door at the end of the corridor was wide open!
“That door is the entrance to the burning stone tower, and it has been sealed off. It definitely wasn’t opened just now; it must have been that old woman who opened it.” Guangyou’s face showed a hint of solemnity.
Upon arriving at the stone tower, Ayumi was about to push the door open when Ai stopped her, saying, "This is a trap. Find some bushes to hide in first. If we don't come out after 300 seconds, just run away to the driveway in the woods. You might still be able to get rescued."
Kōyū looked at Ayumi and said with a smile, "You probably still want to give the bread to Conan, right? You need to be more assertive. But Ayumi, you don't need to count to 300. Just go and hide near the castle gate. That fake first wife isn't there right now."
Ayumi glanced at the bread in her arms and hesitated.
Seeing Ayumi hesitate, Kōyū knew what she was thinking: "Don't worry, Ayumi, I'm very strong!"
Ayumi's eyes were slightly glistening: "Okay, then you guys have to be careful!"
After saying that, Ayumi turned and left.
Ai looked at Kousuke: "Are you very confident?"
Kōyū's smile looked quite handsome in the moonlight: "Why don't you hide with Ayumi too?"
"no!"
"Don't worry, I rarely do things I'm not sure about!" Guangyou said confidently, looking at the night sky.
The interior of the stone tower was covered in dust, and there were charred marks everywhere. These marks gave the stone tower a terrifying appearance, and the whole stone tower exuded an eerie atmosphere.
Inside the stone tower, only a sliver of moonlight could illuminate the surroundings. Fortunately, Guangyou managed to get a general overview of the entire tower using this meager light.
The two walked to a toilet in the stone tower, opened the door and went inside. The toilet and the floor inside were already charred black.
Yet, amidst the charred remains, the light above the toilet was brand new.
This is a very big point of suspicion. Based on his previous experience, Guangyou jumped onto the toilet without hesitation and fiddled with the light for a bit.
Sure enough, the wall next to the toilet was opened up.
Meanwhile, inside the dark stone tower, a slender figure was pacing back and forth. The figure seemed to have heard the noise inside the toilet and quickened its pace toward it.
At that moment, Kōyū felt a sense of unease and pulled Ai into a secret passage behind the wall.
Not long after the two hid in the secret passage, the dilapidated door of the toilet was opened, and light footsteps echoed in the small space.
The two hiding behind the secret passage door naturally heard it. Guangyou held his breath to minimize the chances of being discovered, and held a stone he had picked up from the stone tower on the way, just in case.
As expected, the person opened the hidden door, which was only separated from the two people hiding behind it by a wall. The space behind the hidden door was not large, and they would be discovered sooner or later.
Guangyou casually tossed the pebble out, and it landed on the ground with a faint sound.
Although the sound was faint, it was as noticeable as a pebble dropped into a calm lake in a silent environment.
Hearing the noise behind him, the person instinctively turned around, closed the hidden door, and walked towards the source of the noise.
Guangyou breathed a slight sigh of relief: "Let's go, there's a ladder over there, let's go down first."
Ai nodded and followed Kōyū down the ladder.
"Crunch"
The ladder, which had been in disrepair for years, was indeed not very sturdy. Just as Ai was about to climb down, one of the sections suddenly broke, and Ai fell straight down. Fortunately, Kouyu caught her below and prevented her from falling to the ground.
The voice made Guangyou's expression very serious. Holding Xiao Ai, he ran towards the secret passage without waiting for her to refuse.
The sound naturally attracted the man's attention. With a hint of anger on his face, he quickly opened the hidden door and climbed down the ladder.
After running along the secret passage for a while, Kōyū put Ai down. Kōyū wanted to lean against the wall to catch his breath, but when he reached out, he touched a skeleton instead of a wall!
Guangyou glanced at the skull: "Based on the teeth and hair, it's an old man. The thin leg bones indicate a problem with his legs."
Without hesitation, Ai Haibara said, "Then, this must be the real body of the First Madam."
Before Kōyū could speak, the sound of someone running reached his ears. Kōyū grabbed Ai and ran forward without looking back.
