At night, large raindrops pelted the rooftops violently, the dark sky seemed about to collapse, and the moon quietly hid behind the clouds, afraid to show its face.
Xiaolan sat by the window of the office, her head down, gently stroking a pigeon. Her bangs covered her eyes, making it impossible to see her expression.
Just then, the door to the agency opened, and Conan walked in with a smile, saying, "Uncle isn't up yet? He's such a good sleeper."
Conan was completely unaware of Ran's current state.
When Ran saw Conan come in, she suddenly paused in her actions. Then, she put the pigeon in the basket and said, "Let him sleep."
His tone was so calm that Conan didn't sense anything was amiss.
Xiaolan got up, leaned against the window, and looked at the torrential rain outside in silence.
It was only then that Conan realized something seemed off about Ran, but he didn't know what to say.
Suddenly, Ran looked up slightly, her tone filled with relief: "Conan, thank you."
Ran didn't turn around, but chuckled softly: "Conan was so handsome back then, just like Shinichi."
At this point, Ran suddenly turned around, leaned against the window, tears already glistening in her eyes, and murmured, "Back then, he really looked like Shinichi."
At this moment, tears streamed down Ran's face, and the string of tears caused Conan's smile to gradually disappear. He looked at the tearful girl in front of him, who was crying uncontrollably.
Ran already had the answer in her heart, but she still wanted to know Conan's answer: "But Conan is Conan, and Shinichi is Shinichi. You are different people, aren't you?"
This was the first time Ran had asked such a question, and her voice trembled. Her pitiful appearance was like a needle pricking Conan's heart, causing him immense pain.
Conan lowered his head, his eyebrows furrowed tightly beneath his bangs, unable to look directly at Ran's face.
Suddenly, he smiled, as if relieved, as if the knot in his heart had been untied. He sighed deeply, his chest heaving: "Actually, Xiaolan..."
As he spoke, he slowly took off his glasses: "Actually, I really am..."
The two words were already on the tip of his tongue, but he seemed unable to say them. At that moment, Ran said them for him: "Shin-Shinichi?"
Upon hearing this, Conan looked up at Ran and noticed that Ran's gaze wasn't on him. He followed Ran's gaze and was astonished to find "Shinichi Kudo" leaning against the door of the agency.
Shinichi, dressed in his school uniform, stood at the entrance with a confident smile on his lips, giving Ran a sense of familiarity.
Conan's pupils contracted sharply, and he involuntarily took a few steps back: "How is this possible!"
Ran asked incredulously, "Is...is it really Shinichi?"
Shinichi looked annoyed: "Why would you ask me that? If I'm not Shinichi, then who is?"
Ignoring the look of horror on Conan's face, Shinichi said, "I heard you were involved in a case, so I came all the way here to see you, but you're still so indifferent."
Ran quickly ran past Conan to Shinichi's side and yelled, "Idiot! Where have you been?"
At that moment, Ran noticed that Shinichi was soaked through and quickly said, "I'll go get a towel!"
After watching Ran go upstairs, Shinichi smiled, turned around, and left.
...
At this moment, Guangyou was sitting at the doctor's dining table, looking excited.
Not long after, Ai, wearing an apron, came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of fried rice. She went straight to the dining table and placed the fried rice in front of Kōyū.
Her expression was calm, but her eyes revealed anticipation.
Under her expectant gaze, Guangyou slowly scooped up a spoonful of rice and put it in his mouth.
It must be said that Ai's cooking skills are quite good. Although she can't compare to a professional chef, her seasoning and cooking time are very precise.
Guangyou nodded and gave a thumbs up: "Very good."
Suddenly, Kōyū stopped chewing and sighed, "Ai, go open the door."
"who?"
Although Ai didn't know who it was, she still went to the door and opened it, only to find "Shinichi Kudo" in his school uniform.
At that moment, Shinichi Kudo raised his hand as if he was about to knock on the door.
Ai's pupils contracted slightly: "Kudo?"
"He is Kidd."
Kōyū's words reached Ai's ears from inside.
Upon hearing this, Ai immediately regained her composure and turned to walk back into her room.
Kaito shook his head: "How indifferent."
Despite saying that, he still took off his shoes and came in. To prevent the floor from getting wet, he also took off his coat and put it by the door.
When Kaito walked in, he saw Kōyū eating at the dining table, and the aroma wafted directly into Kaito's nose.
This caused Kaito's stomach to growl uncontrollably. He immediately followed his instincts, grabbed a spoon as quickly as possible, and sat down next to Kouyu. To his astonishment, the pile of rice that had been there just moments before disappeared after he sat down.
"Hiccup~"
Guangyou patted his belly contentedly, a grain of rice still on the corner of his mouth, and let out a burp.
He turned to look at Kaito, who was standing there in a daze, and thought for a moment. Then, Kōyū reached out and took a grain of rice from the corner of his mouth, handed it to Kaito, and said with a reluctant expression, "Here, please have this!"
Seeing his "this is your honor" attitude, Kaito slammed his spoon on the table: "Eat your brother-in-law's food!"
At that moment, Ai placed a supermarket sandwich on the table in front of Kaito. Kaito was also starving, so he quickly picked up the sandwich and started eating.
