Side Story (2): Hokkaido Travelogue, A Painting That Became Reality

In the blink of an eye, the New Year is over, and the winter vacation is over as well.

However, after a month of school, another holiday called "spring break" is about to begin.

During the period from the Lunar New Year to the start of spring break, apart from the three days off she took during the Lunar New Year to spend with Kōyū and the time spent at school, she spent the rest of her time researching a permanent cure.

The organization, this major cancer, has been completely eradicated, and the remaining members have been largely eliminated by the FBI, CIA, MI6, and the Japanese Public Security Bureau.

The last remaining question is about a permanent cure.

Only when the antidote is found can this matter truly be considered closed.

Everyone can clearly see her hard work.

Not to mention Kyou, even Conan, who most wanted to take the antidote and turn back to normal, couldn't help but try to persuade her on his way home from school:

"You don't need to work so hard."

"I've been Conan for so long already, what's one or two more months?"

"Heh~ Ha~"

Because of reduced sleep time, Ai has been yawning much more often lately.

She lowered her hand from her mouth, glanced at him, and then said:

"The sooner we figure it out, the sooner we can finish."

"Didn't you want to meet your girlfriend sooner?"

"Besides, Guangyou and I are going on a trip during the Spring Festival break, so we don't have time to research the antidote."

"Anyway, take care of yourself. Your health is important."

Seeing her say that, Conan, who really wanted to turn back as soon as possible, stopped talking.

Noticing the word "tourism" in that sentence, Conan looked at Kōyū and asked:

"Are you two going on a trip?"

"Hmm." Guangyou put his hands in his pockets, nodded, and said, "After being busy for so long, it's time to relax."

Have you decided where to go?

With nothing to do on their way home from school, Conan and Mitsuyu started chatting about this topic.

"Still hesitating."

Guangyou and Xiao Ai had discussed where to travel.

However, there are many options available, and the two have not yet made a decision.

“I’ve considered Okinawa, Kyushu, and Shikoku is also a good option.”

After frowning slightly and thinking for a moment, Kwang-woo said somewhat uncertainly:

"If I remember correctly, there's a fire festival in Kumamoto in March."

“The second weekend of March,” Conan added. “There’s also the Fire God event in the middle of the month. If you’re going to Kumamoto, you should be able to catch it.”

"Hmm." Kōyū nodded and began to think about where to travel with Ai.

"Where should we go on our trip?" This question troubled Guangyou, who suffers from decision-making difficulties, for a long time.

Spring break is short, only about a month, and he doesn't want to spend the whole month traveling; he needs to plan his travel itinerary carefully.

The candidate locations are all good, and some of them are even on the way.

For example, you could spend a week or two in Okinawa, then go to Kumamoto to participate in the Aso Fire Festival, do some sightseeing along the way, and then return directly to Tokyo after participating in the "Fire Ritual".

But several other places were also very attractive, so Guangyou thought about it for a long time but couldn't decide.

Just as Kōyū was about to go to sleep with this problem in mind, a text message from Ai solved it for him.

"How is Hokkaido?"

Seeing that Ai was interested in Hokkaido, Kōyū, who was torn between Okinawa, Kyushu and Hokkaido, quickly made a decision.

"Okay, then Hokkaido it is."

Afterwards, Kōyū and Ai exchanged a few more text messages, said goodnight, and went to sleep.

...

Spring break began amidst teachers reminding students to "be careful during the holidays" and students discussing where to go.

The plane bound for Sapporo had just taken off when Ai, who had been working hard to develop an antidote all this time, fell asleep leaning against Kouyu.

Artificial intelligence truly lives up to its name.

Friday has been learning from the internet over the past few months to help it grow.

However, Friday is currently playing a supporting role, and Ai is still in charge of most of the work in developing a permanent cure.

With Friday's help, many difficulties in developing a permanent cure were overcome.

For example, the way to remove residual toxins from cells, and the way to provide the energy to transition from a juvenile state back to an adult state.

These past few days, Ai has been working overtime and has already created a prototype that is theoretically a permanent antidote.

Because she was worried that the antidote might not be as effective as expected, what adverse reactions might occur after taking it, and whether it might cause irreversible damage to the body, she hadn't told Conan yet.

According to the plan, after returning from the trip, we will go back to verify the effectiveness, stability, and safety of the antidote.

Ai originally wanted to get all this sorted out before setting off, but Kōyū saw that she had dark circles under her eyes from staying up all night, so he told her to stop and rest for a bit.

Looking at Ai's peaceful face as she slept, Kōyū smiled slightly and said softly:

"Thanks a lot."

After saying that, Guangyou turned his gaze to the azure sky outside the window.

...

Sapporo in February is still a world covered in silver.

Snowflakes drifted down from the sky and landed on the shoulders of Kōyū and Ayane as they got off the bus.

When they arrived in Sapporo, it was already evening. At this time, the streets of Sapporo were filled with all kinds of lights, from the shops to the colorful lights hanging on the trees... The various lights and the snow scene complemented each other, making it very beautiful.

A cool evening breeze was blowing.

After zipping up his coat and looking around to confirm their location, Kōyū took Ai to the hotel where they had booked a room in advance.
