82 Days of Scavenging
This road clearly witnessed countless waves of people escaping with their lives. There were many abandoned vehicles parked on the side of the road, some burned to charred metal frames, some broken in two, and others crushed into flat lumps by something unknown.
The road appeared to have been cleared, as these abandoned vehicles were pushed to the side of the road and were not obstructing other vehicles from passing in the middle.
However, the little robot still stopped and collected the piles of abandoned vehicles into the recycling bin.
These parts will automatically be broken down into different materials in the recycling bin. If there are intact parts, such as a tire or an engine, the recycling bin will automatically identify them and place them on a separate side for processing by a small robot.
After the different materials are separated, they will enter the compressor. The compressed material blocks are stacked together, saving a lot of space in the warehouse.
The little robot continued collecting as it went, and an hour later, it had already left the basic safety line cleared by the base and entered the real wilderness.
Within the basic safety zone, most of the major dangers have been dealt with by the superhumans and the base officials. There are only occasional stray zombies or mutated plants that appear out of nowhere.
However, once outside this area, the base lacks sufficient time, resources, and manpower to clear these places, making the danger greater and more unpredictable.
Of course, for the little robot, the difference is that it's a bit more "lively" outside the line.
After driving for another hour, when the little robot saw a large expanse of green ahead, it knew it had arrived at its destination.
Driving wasn't very convenient for the rest of the journey, so the little robot put the sales vehicle into the recycling bin and then walked towards the processing plant area.
If a human were to witness this scene, their eyes would probably pop out in astonishment.
However, although no humans saw it, "zombies" did.
Deep inside the processing plant, a zombie dressed in green, ghillie suit-like clothing suddenly turned its head.
His ivy tendrils told him that an outsider had come to his territory, and that he was alone.
That's really strange.
This zombie hadn't seen a living person in a long time, and upon discovering such a bold creature, it suddenly lost all desire to sleep and decided to observe from the shadows.
The little robot was unaware that it had already been noticed by the big boss of this place. After entering this area, it only felt—
It's so crowded.
Yes, this processing plant area is really crowded. There are hordes of zombies wandering the streets. If they weren't all zombies, the scene would look like a tourist attraction during peak season.
And you know what? This area is still covered with ivy everywhere, it really looks like a fantasy amusement park, you could even call it a tourist attraction.
However, the little robot didn't care about any of that. He squeezed through the horde of zombies and headed towards the nearest factory.
This is a pickled mustard tuber processing plant. As soon as the little robot entered, it smelled the rotten smell of pickled mustard tubers permeating the air.
There were quite a few zombies in the factory at the moment, and judging from their clothes, most of them were factory employees. Moreover, since the living people who did not turn into zombies were basically drained of their life force by the ivy at the same time, there was not much turmoil in this area. These zombies were all intact and had little blood on them; they could even be described as "clean".
The clean-looking zombies curiously gathered around when they saw the little robot appear.
However, they gathered around because of the commotion, and upon getting closer, they were puzzled to find that this "person" did not have the aroma of human flesh and blood.
Well... if I had to describe it, the zombies felt like they were being presented with a realistic-looking fake dish.
It looked incredibly delicious, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be something that wasn't edible.
The little robot ignored the zombies that kept coming and going, and after a quick glance at the factory environment, it started processing the nearest assembly line.
These machines had obviously been shut down long ago, but the pickled mustard tubers that were being processed on the machines were still there, and the rotten smell was coming from these things.
The small robots collect the rotten and moldy pickled mustard greens piece by piece into the kitchen waste in the recycling bin. Afterward, this waste will enter the time acceleration zone and be made into fertilizer.
More than an hour later, all the rotten pickled mustard tubers on these pickled mustard tuber processing machines were cleaned up.
The little robot also took the opportunity to check these machines again.
Most of the machines were still in good condition, except for some rust from being unused for a long time. With a little cleaning and power, they could continue working. Only a few parts were broken, and the little robot simply used metal from the recycling bin to make suitable replacements on-site.
However, some machines collapsed and broke apart completely. The little robot thought for a moment, then decided not to repair them, but instead put them into the recycling bin to break them down into different materials and compress them.
As a result, only the empty, high-quality pickled mustard tuber making machine remained in the center of the factory.
The little robot searched in the recycling bin and found a scroll.
This is a space scroll he learned about in the magical world. If made with good spatial properties, it has a considerable amount of space inside, enough to hold all the equipment in this factory.
However, this space scroll has a drawback: it can only hold one type of item.
For small robots that need to pick up all sorts of trash on a daily basis, this kind of space scroll is not very useful.
But now they've come in handy.
The little robot activated the scroll, and soon all the pickled vegetable making machines in front of him disappeared from their original spot. On the cover of the spatial scroll in his hand, a simple outline of a pickled vegetable machine appeared.
The little robot then placed the used space scroll separately on a shelf in the recycling bin.
It won't take up much space in the recycling bin.
Given the current capacity of the small robot warehouse, it could accommodate all these machines, but clearly, there wouldn't be much space left after that. And this is just one factory in this processing area.
Naturally, we'll pack as much as we can.
After dealing with the machines and rotten pickled vegetables on display, the little robot followed the components floating in the air and headed towards the factory's storage room.
Here are the pickled mustard tubers that have only undergone simple processing.
The environment in the storage room meant that the pickled mustard tubers had only lost some moisture and were not rotten; they were still edible.
This is precisely the goal of the little robot.
So, without any hesitation, he collected all the pickled vegetables.
Throughout the entire process, even with the zombies crowding around him, it had no effect on him whatsoever.
Besides having to reach out and nudge it while walking.
The subsequent factory processing procedures were the same as those in the pickled mustard tuber factory; the small robots worked in an orderly manner and achieved great results.
In contrast to him was the grain depot next door.
Hopefully, the base's official team and the recruited superhumans have been locked in a stalemate here for three hours.
They arrived early and in large numbers. They had agreed to split into several groups before even entering the grain depot area, each cooperating to advance the clearing process.
However, no one expected that the grain depot, which was not considered a major danger except for an overabundance of zombies when they came to investigate some time ago, has now become a nest for giant mutated earthworms.
This thing burrows underground quickly and stealthily, and it can regenerate even after being cut off. It caught everyone off guard and forced them to retreat from the grain depot area.
However, the loss of the supplies brought out has exceeded expectations.
