84 Days of Scavenging
A day is enough time for the little robot to explore the entire processing plant area.
He was fast, tireless, and didn't need to stop to eat or drink. Soon, all the visible materials in the factory area were collected into the recycling bin.
The recycling bin was completely full; without the help of the space scroll, it wouldn't even be able to hold everything.
Even so, he hadn't had time to thoroughly search the entire factory area. He hadn't finished searching some of the smaller factories, those in more remote locations, or those with more secure factory spaces, such as air-raid shelters.
There's simply not enough space.
Fortunately, the little robot hadn't originally planned to empty the place all at once. Anyway, coming back a few more times wouldn't be dangerous for him. Seeing that it was getting late, he prepared to head back.
We need to open for business on time tomorrow.
However, he hadn't walked far when he detected human activity. It sounded like a battle was taking place, so the little robot didn't get too close. It found a suitable spot, parked, and set up a stall.
Of course, the string lights and loudspeakers have to be on; I've heard that humans enjoy that kind of atmosphere.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before humans heard the commotion and came over.
Although it doesn't quite understand why these humans always seem to suspect they're ghosts when they first arrive, the little robot is still very happy to be able to serve customers with its mobile sales cart.
This means that his idea is feasible.
"Welcome! What would you like to trade?"
.
This temporary business lasted for more than three hours.
The little robot was originally placed on the side of the road. Then, waves of superhumans came to trade, some even coming several times. Later, as more and more people came, the little robot asked Zhao Conglu about their numbers and needs, and then simply drove the car to the side of the grain station.
They started their roadside stall business right where they were camped.
At first, Zong Zhengchu was a little wary. Although he had heard about Naji's shop, which was the most talked-about shop among people these days, he always felt that no one was really so kind and that there must be some purpose behind it.
Now that they've seen the little robot's sales cart placed right where they do their tasks, they're even more wary, fearing there might be something wrong with the food it sells. They're even reluctant to let their people come to trade clothes and utensils.
Hong Sheng saw that the superhumans he had hired were buying things with great enthusiasm. Some even bought food, medicine, clothes, and even tents and sleeping bags, and there were no problems. Some superhumans who liked to have fun even ordered a case of beer and a huge plate of barbecue next to the food truck, and they ate and drank happily in groups of three or five.
The small stools and folding tables they made were also provided by the little robots.
They've eaten like this, yet they're perfectly fine.
Compared to these superhumans, Zong Zhengchu and his group, who were suppressing the desire to trade, couldn't help but feel restless, and the atmosphere in the group became somewhat off.
Even after Hong Sheng discovered this, he took the initiative to go and test the waters.
He then traded a handful of the absorbed crystal core powder for a roasted corn kernel, ate it, and concluded: normal.
Suddenly, everyone present became a customer of the little robot.
Even Zong Zhengchu couldn't resist and came over to test the waters by making a deal.
Once the first stroke is made, there will be a second, a third...
The little robot really cleared out a small corner of the almost full recycling bin.
Of course, this small portion wasn't just eaten by these people.
The bulk of the payment came from a transaction between the little robot and Zong Zhengchu, or more precisely, from the team represented by Zong Zhengchu. What the robot used to pay for these were the very culprits that had caused them to fight all day and end up in such a sorry state: those enormous, mutated earthworms.
This is fresh meat, though the flavor is a bit bland. But if processed properly, it's almost like beef jerky. However, this only applies to unmutated earthworms; the mutated ones are full of toxins and are no longer edible.
Anyway, if you kill it and leave it here, it will just be eaten by other mutated animals or plants as food or fertilizer. You might as well trade it to the little robot.
Anyway, whatever the latter says is acceptable.
The little robot, of course, did not refuse to accept it.
He was even quite happy to take this wave of profits.
The mutated earthworm's toxins are ineffective for other humans, but for him, they can be easily removed and used to process meat, improving its taste and adding some nutrition.
Fortunately, the food supplies he took from the processing plant this time were mostly staple foods and vegetables, with very little meat. After all, meat can't be stored for long, and there weren't many cold storage facilities still in operation. If he had arrived any later, the independent generators in these cold storage facilities would have been broken down soon.
So he really is lacking in meat.
Of course, the little robot will label this meat as earthworm meat when it sells it. Not only this meat, but all the meat it sells will indicate its origin, for the sake of human health.
The items that Zong Zhengchu and his group traded with so many mutated earthworms, besides food and medicine, were weapons and crystal cores of various elements.
The crystal cores were naturally meant to restore everyone's abilities and stamina. If they were fighting zombies today, they wouldn't have had to worry about these things, but unfortunately, they were all used up by a group of earthworms.
And the uses of weapons are needless to say.
Zong Zhengchu hadn't originally intended to trade weapons with the little robot. After all, he thought that even if the shop owner, Naji, was a space ability user, he probably wouldn't have much in common supplies, and weapons, especially firearms, would be out of reach.
This isn't just about one or two weapons; it's about providing enough for the entire team for missions and as a reserve.
Unless this Naji shop owner emptied an armory, he certainly couldn't have produced so many items.
However, he might be able to produce a lot of crystal cores. Even if this person hasn't fought them himself, he's already collected a huge amount while doing business at the base these past few days.
However, despite his thoughts, when it came to stating the supplies he needed, Zong Zhengchu didn't know why he blurted out the option of weapons.
However, he didn't care after saying it, thinking that if it wasn't there, it wasn't there, and he didn't have any hope anyway.
However, the snow-haired boy in front of him actually nodded in agreement!
At the time, Zong Zhengchu thought the man hadn't heard him clearly, so he repeated it again, emphasizing the word "weapon".
It turned out that the shop owner had actually heard it and hadn't just made a random promise.
The little robot didn't agree randomly, of course. This kind of technological weapon was nothing to the little robot. In his interstellar world, these things had become toys for human children. Even children who hadn't started school yet could make something roughly like them.
Even if the small robot is made on-site, it won't take him much effort.
This will just be a good opportunity to use up some of the metal in his warehouse.
Zong Zhengchu stared in disbelief as the little robot placed piles of guns in front of him, even providing a large quantity of bullets.
Naturally, this scene did not escape the eyes of others. Those who could only think of trading food, drink and medicine were dumbfounded. Looking at the meat buns in their hands and then at the piles of weapons over there, they suddenly felt that even if there was meat in the buns, it wouldn't be as delicious.
If they hadn't already used up most of what they brought on this mission through trading, these people probably would have surrounded the little robot's car for most of the day.
Even so, as the little robot put away its colored lights and horn and drove away, these superhumans kept urging him to prepare more weapons, the more powerful the better, so they could come back and exchange them when they finished their mission!
After all, their superpowers aren't limitless, and weapons are the most important thing for survival.
The little robot could only promise that when they returned, the weapons stock would definitely still be there.
.
The day after we returned to Hope Base to restock, there was already a very long queue outside the door before the little robot even opened it.
Most of those queuing up were ordinary people, each carrying large or small bags. Some bags contained relatively intact items, while others were filled with various kinds of trash they had picked up from the ground.
When the little robot opened the door as promised, the light in these people's eyes suddenly lit up, dazzlingly bright.
The little robot accepted everything they brought, buying it up and providing them with the supplies they needed, all in an orderly manner.
When these people received the precious supplies, a hope was rekindled in their hearts to live a good life in this apocalypse.
As the sun rose higher, the number of people with superpowers queuing up increased.
The little robot didn't set up separate queuing windows for people with superpowers and ordinary people. At first, some people with superpowers were unhappy about this, but the little robot didn't give them any face at all. Even if they caused trouble, it couldn't scratch the glass of his shop, let alone hurt anyone.
Even the other ordinary people who were patiently queuing were well protected and were not harmed at all.
No one who witnessed this had any idea how the shop owner managed to do it.
However, fewer people caused trouble like that after that.
Even now, no matter how dissatisfied they are, those who need to queue still have to queue obediently.
In the afternoon, the base patrol team, accompanied by a group of dejected-looking people, came to find the little robot and explained the shop theft to him.
"Mr. Naji has entrusted us with the shop's losses, and we will be responsible for supervising their compensation," the patrol captain apologized to the little robot.
Behind him, Bei Xiangming, who had been questioned repeatedly about where the shop's supplies had been hidden, couldn't help but shout, "I didn't! I told you I didn't take anything! It was empty inside! There was nothing there! I didn't take anything!"
He even yelled at the little robot, "Tell them! Tell them, do you have nothing in your store?!"
