Day 15 of picking up trash
The capital of the Qing Kingdom.
Najitong stood outside the royal palace hall, accompanied by Generals Hong Kang and Sheng Lu. They were waiting for the king's summons to enter the hall.
The rules for meeting the king had already been explained to Najitong along the way. Considering his "divine" status, the well-behaved eunuch did not specifically ask him to kneel, but he did give him some hints.
If it were someone else, they would easily understand what it meant.
Unfortunately, he encountered a little robot that didn't understand any of the subtle hints and suggestions humans used.
So when he followed the two generals into the main hall, he showed no intention of kneeling down, but simply performed the cupped-hand salute as demonstrated by the eunuch.
Then he stood there blankly, waiting to proceed to the next step.
King: "..."
Other officials in the main hall: "..."
The two generals, who had just finished kneeling and performing the grand salute but hadn't yet been told to rise, were speechless.
"Hahaha, this must be Master Naji, right? He is indeed different from us mortals."
An elderly man standing in front of the main hall laughed loudly, breaking the previously tense atmosphere.
After praising the snow-haired youth, the old man turned to the king at the head of the table and respectfully said, "Your Majesty, the arrival of the immortal master in our Qing Kingdom today is better than any auspicious omen. Congratulations in advance on Your Majesty's invincible conquest and unification of the world!"
Upon hearing this, the king's face immediately lit up with a broad smile.
Seeing this, the other officials quickly offered auspicious words one after another:
"Unification of the world is just around the corner!"
"His Majesty is truly the emperor recognized by Heaven!"
"Congratulations, Your Majesty!"
"Congratulations, Your Majesty!"
The slight displeasure that had just begun to rise in the king's heart vanished amidst these words of congratulations.
He laughed heartily: "Very well, very well! Now that my Qing Kingdom has gained the approval of the gods, how can we fail to live up to this good intention! However, war always hurts the people the most. I hope you all understand this. We must not be rash and should prioritize stability."
The ministers responded in unison, "Your Majesty is benevolent!"
The king quickly beckoned to Hong Kangsheng and Lu, saying, "General Hong and General Lu, please get up. What are you still kneeling on the ground for? Someone, bring them seats!"
Naturally, Ji Tong, this "immortal master," also received a seat.
Afterwards, the king repeatedly praised the two great victories of the Hong family army and the Sheng family army, even personally getting down from his seat and holding the hands of the two generals, expressing his extreme excitement. The ministers in the hall also offered a constant stream of compliments, praising the two generals, praising the king, and praising the great strength of the Qing Kingdom.
Of course, a few people also discussed the management of the conquered Ling Kingdom lands, as well as subsequent negotiations with the Zheng Kingdom.
The little robot had no interest in any of these things.
What interested him was the decoration, materials, and various items and ornaments in the main hall.
As a place where the ruler of a country lives and works, the materials and workmanship here are naturally of the highest quality, and its exquisiteness is enough to be displayed in an interstellar museum.
The little robot finally understood the meaning of the note in the "Recycling and Transformation Guidelines" that "the most advanced materials are not necessarily the best; the recycling method must be determined from multiple perspectives."
While there is much room for improvement in the materials used in many things in this hall, its craftsmanship represents the pinnacle of human skill and aesthetics at a particular stage. Dismantling and modifying these objects simply because the materials are not advanced enough would be the most wasteful way to deal with them.
Of course, these were just the little robot's own thoughts. He could tell from how the humans around him treated these things in the hall that they shouldn't be reduced to being treated as trash and given to him as a trash can.
Just as the little robot was engrossed in looking at the decorations, the humans turned their conversation to him.
After praising the general and the two armies, the king looked at the little robot and said in a kind tone, "Master Ji, you have worked hard. Your two beloved generals highly praise you. They said that without you in this battle against Zheng, the outcome would have been uncertain. You have saved the life of my Qing Kingdom. Thank you, Master Ji!"
Thank me?
Oh, about modifying cold weapons and dealing with viruses.
Little robot: "You're welcome, it's my job."
"..." The king paused, then laughed even more heartily, "Truly worthy of being called a Celestial Master, look at his humility. In any case, my Qing Kingdom should still express our gratitude. May I ask what Celestial Master Ji's preferences are?"
Preferences?
I know how to answer that.
Little robot: "Picking up trash."
King: "..."
Truly, he is worthy of being called a Celestial Master; even his hobbies are so unique.
The king suppressed his subtle emotions and skipped the topic: "Now that the immortal master has come to my Qing Kingdom, we cannot be negligent. Do you have a place to stay? There are several houses not far from the palace. The immortal master can choose whichever one he likes. The immortal master does not need to worry about anything. There will be people to take care of everything and make sure the immortal master is satisfied."
What do you think?
After analyzing the rather literary words, the little robot roughly understood the king's meaning.
So you're just asking for a house for yourself, right?
Humans always like to let buckets eat, sleep, and live in houses, living the kind of life that humans do.
The little robot was already aware of this habit.
He nodded and did not refuse: "Thank you, as long as it doesn't interfere with my work."
Now the king's smile looked much more genuine.
"Alright, alright, you're now a distinguished guest of the Qing Kingdom. Just say what you want to do, and no one will bother you. Well, we've been chatting for quite a while now, the welcoming banquet should be ready by now. Come on, let's go have a drink!"
So everyone in the hall moved to their seats at the banquet.
They ate, drank, watched song and dance performances, toasted each other, and chatted about everything under the sun; the atmosphere was extremely lively.
The little robot was attending a human banquet for the first time and felt completely out of place.
He stayed there quietly for a while, then wanted to leave.
The human ruler just said that he could just say what he wanted to do, so leaving early shouldn't be a problem, right?
The little robot tried to wave and call out to people.
In just a short while, he realized that if he wanted to speak to the king, he couldn't go up to him on his own; he had to go through a palace attendant to relay the message.
Humans are so creative!
Soon the eunuch returned with a message, indicating that he could leave first.
There were even people specifically assigned to guide him out.
After leaving the palace gates, the eunuch who had led the way did not go back, but continued to lead the little robot out.
He needs to guide the immortal master to select a house.
The little robot didn't have any particular preferences; it only looked at the first one and immediately made its choice.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I will go back and inform you that it is late today. Tomorrow, the Imperial Household Department will send people to help you manage the house and arrange servants. You can tell them if you have any needs regarding the house."
The eunuch respectfully explained things to the little robot.
The little robot then realized that it seemed to have misunderstood the ownership of the house.
"Can I do whatever I want with the house? Do I own all the things inside? And do I not need to return them later?"
"Yes, Immortal Master. Apart from the fact that the house itself cannot be given away or sold to others and can only be lived in by you, you can do with the things inside as you please."
Suddenly, the little robot's eyes lit up.
