Chapter 107 One-Stop Funeral Service

The abandoned mine was huge, and everyone went out to pan for gold in different directions. Moreover, Chen Feng would deliberately avoid his companions.

So for so many days, Chen Feng had not encountered any companions along the way; this was the first time in the past few days.

However, since he had seen him, Chen Feng decided to go over and say a few words. Zheng Ping also stood up, looking in Chen Feng's direction, ready to greet him.

Zheng Ping had just stood up when, a second later, his steps faltered and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Chen Feng was unaware of what had happened; he only saw Zheng Ping suddenly fall down and couldn't help but smile.

It seems that not only he can't stand steadily, but Zheng Ping is also prone to falling.

At first, Chen Feng wasn't in a hurry and continued walking step by step. But after a few seconds, Chen Feng felt something was wrong.

After Zheng Ping fell to the ground, he did not try to get up, but remained lying on the ground without moving.

"Brother Zheng, Brother Zheng?" Chen Feng called out a few times from a distance, but Zheng Ping still showed no intention of standing up and did not respond to him.

Chen Feng suddenly realized something was wrong and quickly ran over to help Zheng Ping up.

"Brother Zheng, Brother Zheng!"

Chen Feng shouted at Zheng Ping, whose eyes were tightly closed, and reached out to pat his face.

Zheng Ping still showed no reaction. Chen Feng panicked when he saw this. Even if he was stupid, he knew that Zheng Ping had fainted.

What we don't know right now is whether Zheng Ping was knocked unconscious from the fall or for some other reason.

If someone is knocked unconscious from a fall, it's relatively easy to handle; they can recover after resting. But if it's due to other reasons, such as a sudden illness, it's much more difficult.

That would be a disaster!

This place is over a hundred kilometers from the city center, and we don't even know how far away the van is from where we are now. Moreover, it's uncertain whether Chen Feng can even walk to the van while dragging the unconscious Zheng Ping.

Once they're taken to the hospital, they'll probably be able to have their funeral services all taken care of.

Chen Feng dragged the unconscious Zheng Ping to a bush where they could find some shade. Chen Feng took off his clothes and hung them on his head to create a shady spot for Zheng Ping.

He touched Zheng Ping's forehead with his hand; Zheng Ping's forehead was burning hot, as was his body.

Chen Feng took water out of his bag and poured it on Zheng Ping's head to cool him down.

He guessed that Zheng Ping probably suffered from heatstroke, plus the fall.

Chen Feng took off his hat and used it to fan Zheng Ping, hoping to cool him down.

This is the best rescue measure Chen Feng can take right now.

With one hand fanning Zheng Ping, he took out his phone and anxiously pressed the call button. Now, he could only call someone else for help.

The phone signal was too weak to make a call. Chen Feng looked up at Zheng Ping, who was still not awake. Chen Feng was extremely anxious.

"Brother Zheng, Brother Zheng?"

Chen Feng called out loudly to Zheng Ping and poured some water on him, hoping to cool him down and wake him up quickly.

"What kind of signal is this?!" Chen Feng cursed involuntarily as he looked at his phone, which couldn't make any calls.

Now that lives are at stake, it has failed again.

Reaching out to touch Zheng Ping's face, Chen Feng noticed that the temperature seemed to have dropped a bit compared to before. Unconsciously, Chen Feng patted Chen Ping's cheek.

"Brother Zheng, Brother Zheng," Chen Feng continued to call out to him.

A few minutes later, while Chen Feng was still anxiously fiddling with his phone, Zheng Ping groggily opened his eyes and weakly called out.

"Xiaofeng..."

Upon hearing this voice, Chen Feng was overjoyed and quickly turned to look at Zheng Ping.

"Brother Zheng, you're awake! Holy crap, you scared me to death! How are you feeling? Are you feeling any better?" Chen Feng breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Zheng Ping was awake and quickly asked.

"I feel a little unwell..."

Zheng Ping had already put on a mask of pain and took a deep breath before speaking.

"You probably have heatstroke. Drink some water and rest a bit." Chen Feng took out the remaining water from his bag and held it to Zheng Ping's lips.

Zheng Ping opened his mouth and drank half a bottle of water, sip by sip. After drinking it, Zheng Ping's mental state was noticeably better than before.

"My God, what just happened? I felt everything suddenly go black, and when I woke up I was here," Zheng Ping said, rubbing his head.

He fell headfirst, and now he has a big bump on his head.

"I don't know either. I just came over and saw you stand up, then you wobbled and fell down. I thought you just lost your balance, but after a few seconds you didn't seem to be getting up."

"I had a feeling things were going to get bad, so I rushed over." Chen Feng lit a cigarette, still feeling a bit scared.

What if Zheng Ping really doesn't wake up? He'd be in real trouble.

Zheng Ping then noticed the shade above his head and Chen Feng's bare chest. He had only been looking at Chen Feng's face and hadn't noticed whether he was wearing clothes or not.

Chen Feng was holding a hat and fanning him, afraid that he might faint again.

Without Fengzi, Zheng Ping estimated that he would have died here today.

Even a healthy person can't stand being exposed to the sun for too long, let alone someone who has fainted.

Zheng Ping took a deep breath, his heart filled with emotion, his eyes brimming with gratitude.

He didn't even dare to think about what would happen to his family, his elderly parents, and his wife if he really collapsed.

"Fengzi, thank you so much. You saved my life. If it weren't for you, I probably would be done for today."

Upon hearing this, Chen Feng waved his hand dismissively and said, "Hey, we're from the same village, we're brothers, why are you saying this? Do you think I'd just watch you die here?"

"Are you feeling any better? Would you like some more water?"

Zheng Ping nodded upon hearing this, but Chen Feng was out of water. He rummaged through Zheng Ping's bag, took out his large cup, opened the lid, and handed it to Zheng Ping.

After gulping down quite a bit more, Zheng Ping felt a little better.

"How are you? Can you move? Do you want to rest a bit more or go back to the van?" Chen Feng asked.

"Let's rest a bit more, then get back to the van," Zheng Ping said, catching his breath.

"I think you just have heatstroke. Just rest a bit more and drink more water, it's nothing serious," Chen Feng assessed.

Zheng Ping nodded upon hearing this, feeling a pang of regret, because he had actually felt unwell an hour earlier, his body was burning hot, and he felt he couldn't take it anymore.

He had a good harvest today, and he didn't want to waste time resting. He thought he would persevere a little longer and rest in the car that night.

Unexpectedly, he didn't even make it to the evening; he collapsed from the heat in the afternoon. If he hadn't run into Chen Feng, he would have been completely finished.

After resting for a while, Zheng Ping and Chen Feng climbed out from under the bushes. Chen Feng took off his clothes, put them on halfway, and then took them off again.

The clothes had been exposed to the blazing sun for so long that wearing them again felt unbearably hot. Chen Feng couldn't stand it anymore, and since he was going to be back in the van soon anyway, he simply decided not to wear them.
