Chapter 117 Claypot Rice with Three Sausages

Chen Feng could no longer kneel, so he sat down on the ground, holding the detector in both hands and scanning back and forth.

Exploring this place was difficult; there were bushes and branches everywhere, making it impossible to get anything out of the way.

After much effort, Chen Feng finally located the goods next to a bush in the distance. He carried the goods over and pulled out a shovel.

Chen Feng shoveled up a handful of soil, checked the detector, but it didn't go off. He tossed the soil aside and shoveled again.

It took him about seven or eight shovelfuls to finally find the goods.

He trembled slightly with his left hand and continued kneeling on the ground to pass through the detector. When it beeped, he continued to tremble.

Soon, he shook something to the ground with a "thud," and Chen Feng smiled as he looked at it.

It was a gold nugget. Chen Feng picked it up and estimated it was worth about eight or nine hundred.

"Damn, at least it wasn't a wasted climb."

Chen Feng put away the gold nuggets, picked up his tools, and eagerly climbed out of the bushes.

He's really had enough of being here; he can't even straighten his back.

After climbing out of the bushes in a few steps, Chen Feng stood up and stretched his back forcefully.

"call…"

After coming out, he felt relaxed all over. He checked the time, found a place to sit down, and took out water and food.

He only brought three loaves of bread, gave two to Brother Mouse, and now he only has one left.

He tore open a piece of bread and ate it, then peeled off a sausage.

I'll have a light snack at noon and eat something better when I get home in the evening.

After resting for a while, Chen Feng stood up and randomly looked in a certain direction.

Time quickly passed to five o'clock in the afternoon. Chen Feng wiped the sweat from his forehead and prepared to head back.

The afternoon's harvest was mediocre; almost all the grains were silver, with only one small gold grain found, worth two or three hundred.

He estimated today's harvest, which was quite good, around nine thousand. If there were fewer impurities, he estimated it could reach ten thousand.

"Time to go home, time for dinner."

Chen Feng tucked the shovel into his backpack and walked contentedly toward the van.

Since there were no more shipments along the way, Chen Feng didn't care anymore.

When we got back to the van, we could hear Huang Fei playing music from a great distance, and he was singing very loudly.

"This guy's having a blast all by himself," Chen Feng said to Huang Fei, who was leaning back in the driver's seat, as he got into the car.

"It's no fun. I came back around 1 a.m. It was so hot. There was no one in the car when I got back. I couldn't find anyone to talk to."

"When I get back, I'll download more songs and novels to listen to in the car, otherwise it will be too boring."

Seeing that someone had returned, Huang Fei finally perked up, sat up, and spoke.

"To be honest, I'm hungry. Why don't we go chop some firewood first, and then cook when they get back? If you're tired, you don't have to chop; you can just stay with me," Huang Fei said to Chen Feng.

He was just too bored by himself and wanted to find someone to keep him company.

"Okay, I'll leave after I have a sip of water." Chen Feng poured some water from the large bucket in the car, the two of them smoked a cigarette, and then they picked up their axes and went out to chop wood.

When the rest of their companions returned one after another, the two of them had finished stacking the stones around the fire, and piled the firewood high in the middle, just waiting to start a fire.

"Wow, what's going on with you two? How come you're up so fast today?" someone said in surprise.

"I'm hungry," Huang Fei said, tossing his axe aside.

Zheng Ping stepped forward and lit the fire. The flames quickly shot into the sky. Today, everyone discussed it and unanimously asked Chen Feng to make claypot rice for them.

Chen Feng had no objection. They rinsed the rice in their lunchboxes, and Chen Feng took the seasonings and poured them out for them one by one.

I took the remaining greens; some were wilted, but fortunately they weren't spoiled and were still edible.

Huang Fei added three sausages to his lunchbox, two for Chen Feng and one for the others.

Place the lunchboxes in the fire and wait for the claypot rice to cook through.

"Should we go back tomorrow night, or leave the day after tomorrow morning?" Yin Xing asked after thinking for a moment.

Tomorrow will be the fifth day, and they have two choices; either way is fine.

If Huang Fei went straight home after panning for gold at night, he could get home the next day. However, he would have to drive all night again.

If he waited all day and drove back during the day, he probably wouldn't get home until midnight. The advantage was that Huang Fei wouldn't have to drive at night.

"Let's see what the driver says. We'll go wherever you tell us to go," Zheng Ping said after thinking for a moment, then looked at Huang Fei.

He's the driver, so he's in charge. Although there's not much left, we can make do and stay another night.

Huang Fei stroked his chin. He didn't really want to drive at night; he was sleepy and the visibility was poor.

After thinking about it, he came up with a compromise.

"Let's do this: after you come back tomorrow night, we'll eat and sleep normally."

“We’ll drive home at three in the morning. That way, it’ll get brighter and brighter as we go, and we’ll get home around five or six in the morning without delaying anything.”

What do you think?

Everyone agreed with the idea; it was a very good suggestion.

"Okay, that's settled then. When we get back tomorrow, let Dafei go to bed early so he won't get sleepy on the way."

Zheng Ping clapped his hands in agreement, saying, "It has to be the driver; he chose a much better time slot than we did."

The claypot rice was cooked through very quickly, and even though it was covered, you could still smell the aroma from time to time.

Everyone took tree branches and sticks, scooped out their own portions of claypot rice, and eagerly lifted the lids onto the ground.

They had been watching Chen Feng eat for a long time and were really envious. Today, they finally got to eat their own claypot rice.

When the lids were all lifted, the aroma burst out, and everyone couldn't help but take a deep sniff.

Wow, it smells so good!

"Fengzi, if you stop panning for gold in the future, you could open your own restaurant. Your cooking skills are unmatched," Yin Xing exclaimed, picking up a bite with his chopsticks and putting it in his mouth.

"Forget it, I've already spent half a day serving you guys. If the store really opens and there are too many customers, the later customers will starve to death."

Chen Feng was self-aware enough; although he was okay at cooking, he was too slow.

Gold panning is much more convenient; you can just dig up anything with a shovel, which is much easier than cooking.

Looking at the lunchbox filled with a layer of ham sausages, Huang Fei felt incredibly satisfied.

Unlike others who were grateful to Chen Feng for sharing a sausage with them, Huang Fei felt that it was his due!

They had no idea what they had gone through in the past two days!

Are three sausages a lot? Not at all!

Zheng Ping and Chen Feng are no good either. If Huang Fei could beat them, he would have stood up long ago!

Fortunately, I still had some ham sausage to comfort myself.

Huang Fei picked up a few slices of ham and put them in his mouth, looking satisfied.

The ham sausage, after being cooked with various ingredients, became much more tender and had a unique smoky flavor, making it incredibly delicious.

The grievances I suffered these past two days were worth it!
