Chapter 31 Don't follow me, big brother!

"Damn, I didn't drive well this time." Huang Fei wasn't discouraged and grinned.

Everyone smiled upon hearing this and got to work, taking out their detectors to sweep away mines.

Chen Feng casually scanned a direction and walked forward. Even though he knew there was nothing there, he still had to pretend. He couldn't just put on a show like he had a GPS tracker and suddenly there was something there.

Huang Fei followed behind Chen Feng, sweeping along his route.

Thus, a rather comical situation arose.

The two of them were like a greedy snake, with Chen Feng in front and Huang Fei behind. No matter which way Chen Feng turned, Huang Fei followed closely behind him.

Five minutes later, Chen Feng turned around and looked at Huang Fei with a helpless expression.

Huang Fei was focused on probing with his head down and didn't notice that Chen Feng had stopped. A few seconds later, he crashed into him.

"Damn it, why aren't you moving forward?" Huang Fei looked up at Chen Feng and said.

"I'm leaving my ass!" Chen Feng said irritably.

"No, brother, why are you following me around?"

Chen Feng said, utterly speechless.

Upon hearing this, Huang Fei scratched his head sheepishly and said, "It's just that you're lucky. I figured if I followed you, I could pick up some leftovers."

Upon hearing this, Chen Feng covered his face and looked at him with a deep look, saying, "Big brother, have you ever thought about this, I mean, what if?"

"Is it possible that if I'm ahead of you, even if there's something there, I'll be the one who finds it first, and it has nothing to do with you?"

"And you're behind me, scouting places I've already checked out, places I'm sure don't have any goods."

"Under these circumstances, if you follow me like this, forget about the goods, you'd be lucky if you even found a piece of iron. I'm blind."

Huang Fei was stunned for a moment after hearing this, and it took him a while to come back to his senses and say, "Damn, what you said makes sense."

"Haven't I just wasted half a day exploring here?"

Chen Feng just stared at him, as if to say, "Are you wise?"

"Where can we find plenty of goods?" Huang Fei asked, looking at the desolate surroundings with a puzzled expression.

"How would I know? If I knew, would I have gone? Would I have told you?" Chen Feng said helplessly.

"Just explore randomly. Gold panning is all about luck. See whichever direction looks good and go explore there." Chen Feng casually pointed him in a direction.

"Okay, I'll listen to you. We'll head this way today." Huang Fei nodded vigorously, full of enthusiasm, as he looked in the direction Chen Feng was pointing.

However, you know what? Before Chen Feng could even take two steps, Huang Fei's instruments went off.

"Ooh-woo~"

"Holy crap, Fengzi, it's shipped!" Huang Fei was incredibly excited when he heard his instrument beep and shouted to Chen Feng, who was not far away.

"Hmm?" Chen Feng turned around, raised an eyebrow, and walked over.

I don't remember the system giving any notification there. Could this kid have actually found the goods?

After he walked over, Chen Feng shrugged.

If the system didn't give any indication, it's probably just a block of iron or something.

However, seeing how excited Huang Fei was, Chen Feng didn't want to dampen his spirits, so he excitedly said, "Quickly, you're really lucky! You've got a winning hand right away."

"That's right, I told you I was destined to strike it rich."

Huang Fei chuckled, his face full of pride, and then, imitating Chen Feng, he took out a small shovel and shoveled it across the detector, one scoop at a time.

"Ooh-woo~"

With two shovelfuls, he scooped up the thing. Huang Fei excitedly fiddled with the shovel, while Chen Feng watched from the side.

When Huang Fei saw that dark yellow color, he was incredibly excited and immediately called Chen Feng over, saying, "Fengzi, Fengzi! Is this gold?!"

Chen Feng looked at the dark yellow object, stroked his chin, and said, "Actually, I feel... this looks like brass."

Upon hearing "brass," Huang Fei seemed to have been doused with cold water. Staring at the dark yellow particle, he said, "No way, something this yellow can't be brass?"

"If it's not yellow, why is it called brass..." Chen Feng felt like he was spouting nonsense.

"Based on my experience, gold is a lighter color than this, a light yellow, but yours is too yellow, almost reddish, it doesn't look like gold at all," Chen Feng said, shaking his head.

"Whatever it is, let's put it away first, just in case we're mistaken," Huang Fei said, still somewhat unwilling to give up.

"Okay, let's go find someone to assess it tonight," Chen Feng said, not wanting to dampen his enthusiasm.

"Whatever it is, the goods have been shipped. Fengzi, the direction you pointed out is really good. I'll head this way today." Huang Fei said firmly as he put away the small bottle.

"Keep it up." Chen Feng picked up the equipment and found a less crowded spot.

Chen Feng simply carried the instrument and walked casually forward. It took him seven or eight minutes for the system to sound.

"Oh my, let me see where you are."

Chen Feng held the instrument and circled it back and forth to determine the location.

After finally circling the location, Chen Feng stood silently in front of the withered tree that was about a meter thick.

The dead tree had fallen, its branches scattered all over the ground, and that dead tree was right in the middle of the circle Chen Feng had drawn.

Chen Feng looked at the shovel in his hand, which was no bigger than the palm of his hand, and then at the huge withered tree. Only then did he understand what the story of Yu Gong moving mountains meant.

"Please don't let the goods get stuck under the tree, or I'll spend the whole day just digging out this tree," Chen Feng prayed silently. He really didn't want to end up like Chen Feng moving a tree.

Chen Feng held the detector back and forth, and it finally went off when it was about 30 centimeters away from the tree trunk.

He laid the detector down beside him, squatted down, and started digging in the soil with a small shovel.

With the first shovel stroke, Chen Feng saw the clump of dead tree roots lying underground.

"Damn it, what are you doing growing up so big?" Chen Feng squatted on the ground, digging at the tree roots, cursing as he did so.

The succulent tree was already dead. Chen Feng used a shovel to break off the roots that had grown out with a single, forceful shovel, pulled the roots aside with his hands, and then continued digging in the ground.

It rained yesterday, so the surface soil is dry, but the inside is still very moist. When you dig it out, it's wet and black.

After breaking off several tree roots, Chen Feng finally shoveled up a full shovel of soil and passed it over the detector.

"Ooh-woo~"

Upon hearing this voice, Chen Feng smiled.

This time, the soil was wet and clumped together, unlike usual when a layer would fall off with a shake.

Chen Feng could only slowly pull it down with his hands, and only when he felt it was about right would he put it on the detector.

After rummaging through the shovel twice, the detector was still beeping, so Chen Feng carefully searched through it.

Soon, a grayish-white particle appeared in the soil.

Chen Feng picked up the silver nugget, blew on it, and laughed.

This silver nugget weighs about six grams and is worth about thirty yuan.

Chen Feng took out a small bottle and threw in the silver granules, which made a clanging sound.

Chen Feng stood up, picked up the detector, and patted the withered tree in high spirits.

"I think you're pretty good. Keep growing a bit bigger. You're too thin. Look at how thick other people's are. Reflect on yourself and see if you've really tried to grow."

"Don't blame everything on the environment, okay? The environment has always been like this."
