When they got home, Liu Ping was picking vegetables. Seeing them return, she couldn't help but ask curiously, "What's going on outside? I heard some officials have come?"
"The land bureau came to measure the area and discovered a gold mine," Chen Feng said, pouring himself a glass of water. He added that there was no need to hide it from his own mother.
"What? A gold mine has been discovered, right here?" Liu Ping said in shock.
No wonder so many people came to see the spectacle today; it turns out they've discovered a gold mine!
"Who knows which bastard has struck it rich again, discovered a gold mine, how much money is that worth? Why can't we have such good fortune?" Liu Ping shook her head and said regretfully.
Chen Feng was speechless upon hearing this and couldn't help but say, "Mom, please be gentle with your scolding. I'm the one who found out."
"What did you say? You found it? Don't kid me, really?" Upon hearing this, Liu Ping's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and the vegetables in her hands fell into the bowl with a clatter.
"Of course, otherwise what do you think I did all day?" Chen Feng shrugged.
"My God, when did you find out? Does this mean it's all ours now?" Liu Ping said in disbelief.
Although she didn't understand it, she could still grasp what a gold mine truly meant.
"More or less," Chen Feng said, stretching.
"Wow, how much is that mine worth?" Liu Ping asked incredulously.
"I don't know yet, I haven't calculated it, but I should have a few small goals," Chen Feng estimated at the lowest possible level.
Upon hearing this answer, Liu Ping was completely stunned. A few small goals? How could she possibly spend them all?
"When will the digging start? Will it still be done by hand?" Liu Ping, who didn't know much about this, couldn't help but ask.
"We have to wait for the certificate to be issued. We will definitely need to hire people and buy machines, but those are minor issues. Once the certificate is issued, everything will be fine." Chen Feng finished the water in his cup in one gulp.
"My God, getting rich can happen in the blink of an eye. Suddenly everyone's got a mine. If you had told me this before, I would never have believed it," Liu Ping said, shaking her head in amazement.
After the land bureau leaders returned, they reported the matter directly to their superiors, and the news of the gold mine discovery immediately alarmed the city.
Several city leaders gathered together to discuss this matter.
"I never expected that there would be such a rare thing as a gold mine in this place. The city has really made a name for itself this time."
"This is like a political achievement falling from the sky; it's something I never expected."
"Which village are they from? They're so lucky!"
"It's said to be a young man, only in his twenties."
"Tsk tsk tsk, he's become incredibly rich now."
"Hey, that goes without saying. We'll give him the green light all the way and get the mine up and running as soon as possible. This is a great thing for both the higher-ups and the lower-ups."
After everyone finished speaking, they looked at the top leader, as ultimately the decision had to be made by him.
Xiahou, a high-ranking official in the city, couldn't help but smile when he saw the gaze directed at him.
"Why are you all looking at me? This is a good thing, how could I disagree?"
"Send someone to contact this young man. I will meet with him in person tomorrow."
Everyone laughed when he said that.
"Okay, okay, I'll arrange for someone to take care of it right away."
That evening, Chen Feng received a phone call.
"Hey Chen Feng, do you have time tomorrow? Come to the city, our big leader wants to see you."
"Big leader? Which big leader?" Chen Feng asked upon hearing this.
"You should have heard of Leader Xiahou, right?" came the reply from the other end.
Chen Feng pondered the name for a moment, then couldn't help but grin. Good heavens, this is the guy who's always on TV in the city!
I didn't expect him to want to see me. It seems that they value this gold mine much more than I thought.
"Okay, okay, what time should I go tomorrow?" Chen Feng nodded.
"No need to come too early, nine o'clock is fine. Call me again when you come to the building," came the reply.
"Okay, bye, boss." Chen Feng hung up the phone.
"Are we going to the city tomorrow?" Xia Yingying asked, leaning against Chen Feng.
"Yes, I can go by myself tomorrow. A high-ranking official from the city wants to meet with me, probably to discuss future development plans," Chen Feng nodded.
“Okay, go ahead. The bed and stuff should arrive by tomorrow morning. Auntie and I will pick them up.” Xia Yingying said.
“Okay, call me if anything happens,” Chen Feng said, playing with her dark hair.
The next day, Chen Feng drove his Porsche to the building and was picked up and taken to an office upstairs.
As soon as I entered, I saw the senior leader sitting at the table reading documents. He was wearing black-rimmed glasses.
"Oh, come and sit down. You must be the young man who discovered the gold mine," Xiahou said, standing up and extending his hand.
"Hello, leader. Thank you for your concern. I am that person." Chen Feng shook hands with Xiahou, being extremely polite.
It's definitely the same person as on TV, it's him.
"It's alright, it's alright, come and sit down." The leader led him to the sofa.
"Hey." Chen Feng sat down and rubbed his legs, a smile on his face.
"They already reported to me yesterday that the gold mine is quite large. You've really struck gold, haha," Xiahou joked.
"It's alright, I just got incredibly lucky to stumble upon this gold mine." Chen Feng scratched his head, his smile a little goofy.
"It's alright, it's alright as long as we run into each other. Are you planning to develop it yourself or transfer it?" Xiahou asked.
"Let's develop it ourselves. It's okay if it's a little slow at first. We can take it one step at a time," Chen Feng replied honestly.
“Alright, the benefits are greatest if we develop it ourselves, and we generally wouldn’t give it to someone else.” Xiahou had expected this answer and nodded in agreement.
"Have you looked into the specifics of mining?" Xiahou continued to ask.
"I've learned a little bit, but I certainly don't understand everything. I hope you can give me some guidance, leader." Chen Feng spoke very modestly, but in fact he had already learned everything. He just wanted to see what Xiahou would say.
"Yes, the city will be able to help you, but there are a few strict conditions you must meet."
"First, your mine must employ local residents, preferably villagers from near your village."
"This will boost the economy and create jobs. The hard requirement is that you can't use people from other cities; local household registration is the bottom line, you know?" Xiahou explained to him.
"Of course, technical positions are allowed to hire people from outside the city, but they cannot exceed 10% of the total employees. Remember this limit."
"I understand, I understand. Don't worry, leader, I will definitely not forget the villagers." Chen Feng nodded repeatedly.
"Okay, that's how it is. And the basic salary can't be too low. It has to be at least the average level. Don't think that just because everyone here is from the same area, it's okay if it's a little low. That won't work."
