Chapter 469 I'd rather die than go

They shouted for an unknown amount of time, until their voices were hoarse, before Wang Bing and Zhang Lin gradually recovered from their fear.

Their foreheads were covered in cold sweat, and they gripped each other's clothes tightly, staring at the door in terror.

However, the doorway is now empty, and the thing from before seems to have disappeared.

"What is it? Did I see it wrong?" Wang Bing swallowed hard and asked Zhang Lin in a trembling voice.

"You must be right, because I saw it too." Zhang Lin stared intently at the doorway, not daring to blink, afraid that if he blinked, he would see something suddenly appear.

"I want to go home, I don't want to stay here anymore," Wang Bing said, on the verge of tears.

This is absolutely terrifying! Didn't I burn paper money for you tonight? Why are you still looking for me?!

Didn't I tell you to go find Xu Guang? Go find him!

"Do you dare to go out and drive?" Zhang Lin asked him, turning around.

"I dare not..." Wang Bing shook his head in fear. He felt that this corner was the safest place right now.

What if that thing is right behind the door, waiting for him like some old codger?

Zhang Lin tried to move his foot, but his legs were so weak from fear that even moving them was difficult, let alone standing up.

And so, the two of them squatted in the corner, trembling, not daring to go anywhere or move anywhere, waiting for dawn.

Meanwhile, Chen Feng and his group were almost home.

"My God, you have no idea, that guy scared me to death, he screamed so loudly!" Xia Yingying said, still shaken.

"But you know what, it's actually quite fun. Now I understand why some people would dress up as ghosts at amusement parks to scare others. It's so exciting!" Xia Yingying said, sounding almost like she wanted to go again.

"This is the first time I've ever seen a person make such a heart-wrenching scream. It makes the horror movies seem so fake."

"Seriously, those actors should come over and observe for themselves what it really means to be terrified." Chen Feng regretted not recording a video earlier.

"Now, they probably won't dare to stay here anymore." Zheng Ping couldn't help but laugh when he thought about it.

They arrived home quickly. Xia Yingying washed off her makeup and prepared to go to sleep, as did the others.

However, while they can fall asleep, some people can't.

No one knows how much time had passed, but Wang Bing and Zhang Lin were still in that corner, their eyes red as they stared at the door.

They didn't dare to sleep, let alone move.

"What time is it? Shouldn't it be dawn by now?" Zhang Lin swallowed and asked.

"It's only a little past 2:40 now, it should still be two hours." Wang Bing looked at the time on his phone, wishing it were noon right now.

Now only the sunshine can bring them a sense of security.

Finally, the long wait was over, and the sky gradually began to lighten. When they saw the sunlight, they were so excited that they almost hugged each other and cried.

"Let's go outside, there shouldn't be anything left there, right?" Wang Bing's voice was so hoarse he could barely speak.

“Let’s go take a look. If there’s nothing there, let’s go back to the city right now. I want to go home. I don’t want to stay here for another minute,” Zhang Lin said, standing up forcefully.

The two grown men moved forward step by step, even holding hands as they walked, out of fear.

The moment they stepped out the door, looking at the empty space outside, they finally felt relieved.

"Let's go, let's go." Wang Bing practically ran to the car, and the two of them started driving back.

They drove all the way to the city, and Xu Guang was still asleep, so they woke him up.

"What's wrong? Why are you two back so early? Did you catch Chen Feng?"

Xu Guang was clearly still a little sleepy, sitting on the bed with droopy eyelids as he spoke.

"We encountered a ghost last night, and it was even grabbing people?"

"I was almost scared to death right there in the mine. You can hire whoever you want, I'm not doing this anymore. We're going home soon." Now that Wang Bing is back at the hotel, he's not so scared anymore, and sleepiness is suddenly washing over him.

Even if I really have to leave, I should sleep here first.

"We've encountered a ghost? What the hell? What are you two talking about?" Xu Guang looked up and asked, puzzled.

“Last night…” Zhang Lin began to tell him what had happened and the legends in the village.

After hearing this, Xu Guang was speechless.

"No, if you two used your brains for a moment, wouldn't you realize this was just a trick Chen Feng pulled?"

"There really is something fishy going on. Wasn't that just him faking it? Damn it." Xu Guang's eyes were full of speechlessness.

"Who knows if it was fake or real? The point is, it was real when that thing appeared in front of us. You have no idea how scary it was." Upon hearing this, Wang Bing turned his head away in anger, almost wanting to curse.

He really wanted to throw Xu Guang into the mine and let him face-to-face with that thing, to see if he could still be so indifferent.

"Alright, alright, I know you two were terrified. Here's a bonus for you both this month. You two go back and rest. The mine will be shut down for a few days."

"We'll talk about it later."

Xu Guang certainly couldn't let them leave; if they left, there would be no one left, and besides, they were familiar with the work here.

"Okay, then we'll go to sleep first." Wang Bing was too lazy to talk to him for the time being, he just felt so sleepy and wanted to go to bed.

What's especially funny is that these two are now too scared to sleep alone in a room. They've booked a double room and are sleeping in the same bed.

After they left, Xu Guang stood up and paced back and forth in the room.

This is not a solution at all; with all the disruptions, we simply can't get the work started.

He went into the bathroom to wash up, preparing to go find Xiahou later to have a proper discussion.

If all else fails, we'll have to resort to some special methods.

Around nine o'clock in the morning, Xu Guang appeared in Xiahou's office. Xiahou's desk was still the same solid wood desk, but the part that had been burned black by Chen Feng was gone.

It's obvious that they've changed to a new table.

“Old Hou, this can’t go on. If we let him run wild, will our mine ever be able to operate?”

"These things were clearly done by Chen Feng. Does it really matter whether there's evidence or not?"

"And he went even further yesterday, actually sending people to dress up as ghosts to scare my employees. My two employees were so scared they peed their pants. Do you know what they were like?"

"Isn't this maliciously obstructing the normal operation of the mine?" Xu Guang was furious and wished he could throw Chen Feng in right now.

"That kid, he's capable of any dirty trick."

“I feel that if you keep arguing with him, it won’t lead to anything, right?” Xiahou looked at Xu Guang, already having anticipated this.

"Who knows? If it doesn't work, just send more people. The problem is that this is only treating the symptoms, not the root cause. Who knows what kind of despicable things he'll do next?" Xu Guang said with a headache.
