"So, this is how it's going to happen?" Chen Jianguo was somewhat skeptical, so he grabbed another handful of sand and continued to shake it slowly.
As the water flowed up and down, the sand grains were slowly washed away, and the sand in the plate became less and less. Chen Jianguo looked at the shrinking pile of sand and slowly frowned.
After shaking it a few more times, the sand in the plate was completely gone. Chen Jianguo looked at the plate, which was now completely empty, and felt utterly dismayed.
"Damn it, something's not right. Where did you guys get your sand? I don't have any. I was even shaking it carefully." Chen Jianguo asked, sticking his head out to look at the two of them.
"How could that be? Look at me, there's gold here." Chen Feng shook the plate to remove the last bit of sand and showed him the remaining gold particles.
"I'm really something, maybe I'm not looking in the right direction. Let me grab a handful of sand from here and see." Chen Jianguo stood up, bent down, grabbed a handful of sand in front of Chen Feng, and prepared to shake it properly.
Chen Feng looked at the handful of sand he had grabbed and sighed silently in his heart.
The ground beneath his feet was covered in golden sand, except for the handful he grabbed. Chen Jianguo's luck was truly incredible.
Honestly, you're lucky you didn't starve while working in the gold mining business; you really have a great boss.
Chen Feng pinched a handful of soil with three fingers. If there was no gold, he would flick it away. If there was, he would put it on the plate and continue pinching.
He doesn't know if others have gold, but he definitely does.
After Chen Jianguo finished shaking the plate of sand in his hand, he felt like cursing.
No, he's just immune to gold.
Everyone else gets a bunch when they shake their phones, but I don't get a single one?!
"No, are we shopping at the same place?" Chen Jianguo asked, looking at the two of them with suspicion.
"Um, Uncle, why don't you try grabbing one of these from here again?" Lin Nian comforted him.
Upon hearing this, Chen Jianguo grabbed a handful of soil in front of Lin Nian and continued shaking it, this time even making bigger movements.
Anyone who watches others sift through gold while they themselves get nothing would probably get furious.
It can only be said that heaven rewards those who persevere, or perhaps it's because he caught so many this time that Chen Jianguo finally saw something of value.
Before he could even feel happy, he saw the gold nugget drift away with the water and fall directly into the basin.
"Holy crap!"
This scene infuriated Chen Jianguo; he realized his own idea was truly awful.
He slowly put the plate down and reached into the bucket to pick up the gold nugget. The problem was that the gold nugget was too small, and he couldn't pick it up no matter how many times he tried. In the end, the more he tried, the deeper it went.
"Damn it, I'm going into the water tomorrow. Let whoever wants to shake this piece of junk shake it!" Chen Jianguo said, completely losing his composure.
Chen Feng and Lin Nian exchanged a smile, shook their heads, and remained silent.
While they were still rocking, Li Chunlai had already come ashore and was preparing to change shifts.
"Phew." Li Chunlai came up, took off his helmet, and took a deep breath. Huang Fei helped him take off his clothes.
When he glanced around the shore, he realized that Huang Fei was the only one there; where had everyone else gone?
"Dafei, where are they? What have they all been doing?" Li Chunlai asked, taking off his diving suit.
"They're all behind us, aren't they... um?" Huang Fei turned around instinctively and was startled by his own reaction.
"Holy crap, where did they go?"
Looking back, there was no one there at all; there wasn't a soul in sight.
"What happened? Did they run away?" Li Chunlai asked, lighting a cigarette.
"It can't be in a pit, can it?" Huang Fei said, looking at the pit with digging marks.
"In a pit? What are you doing in a pit? Where did this pit come from?"
Li Chunlai asked, puzzled.
“Of course they dug their own grave,” Huang Fei said, standing up.
"Dug your own hole? And then crawled right in?"
"No, what could be so upsetting that you'd want to bury yourself in the sand?" Li Chunlai asked, puzzled.
"No, they're panning for gold. Let's go take a look." Huang Fei and Li Chunlai walked over together.
As soon as they arrived at the edge of the pit, Li Chunlai and Huang Fei saw three people sitting in the pit, holding plates in their hands.
Upon hearing the sound, Chen Feng and the other two all looked up at the edge of the pit.
To be honest, Li Chunlai didn't know why, but he suddenly felt like laughing.
These three people looked like the African laborers, sitting on a small, tattered stool with blank expressions.
"Are you done?" Chen Feng asked.
"I couldn't hold it in any longer, so I came up to switch shifts. Is there gold here too?" Li Chunlai asked curiously.
"Yes, of course I do. It's just that it doesn't seem to work as fast as when I inhale, but I can get some anyway, since I'm just killing time."
Lin Nian carefully pinched the gold from the plate into the box, then grabbed a handful of dirt and continued to gently shake it.
“Then I’ll come too. Do you have any stools?” Li Chunlai said, rolling up his sleeves.
"Hey, wait a minute, you help me get into the water first, then have someone else watch over me," Huang Fei quickly said.
Don't just sit here sifting gold; it'll be fine if no one's watching from the shore.
"Oh, let's go then." Li Chunlai was reminded that he still needed to leave someone to keep an eye on Huang Fei underwater.
"You're quite observant, kid. I would have forgotten about this if you hadn't mentioned it," Li Chunlai said with a smile, patting Huang Fei on the shoulder.
Huang Fei chuckled dryly upon hearing this, but remained silent.
It has to be said that being slow-witted has its advantages; at least you can still laugh.
If it were Fengzi, he would probably have noticed what was going on immediately.
Do you want to guess why I'm so meticulous?
After helping Huang Fei into the water, Li Chunlai walked to the edge of the pit and said, "Come on, I'll switch. Who of you will watch over Huang Fei?"
"Go ahead, just take a break. Don't start working right away," Chen Feng said, trying to send him back.
“No need, it’s not tiring down here. Uncle Lai, go sit by the river, I’ll take your place,” Li Chunlai said to Chen Jianguo.
"No need, you should rest."
Chen Jianguo was very polite, but his body language betrayed him as he stood up; he was genuinely getting a little worked up and his mentality was about to collapse.
After shaking it for half an hour, only a few pitiful grains of gold dust came out. Anyone would be furious if that happened to them.
"Uh, it's okay, I'm not tired."
Li Chun looked at his movements and had a few black lines on his forehead. "You should at least pretend, you got up way too fast."
"I'm going to check on Dafei. You guys take your time with the digging," Chen Jianguo said as he climbed out of the pit.
Li Chunlai took over Chen Jianguo's position, casually grabbed a handful of sand, put it in a plate, and slowly began to shake it.
"So, is there a lot of gold buried under that big rock? I can see gold dust glittering at the bottom of the river," Li Chunlai asked curiously.
“Yes, we didn’t work in vain. That gold-absorbing ship was spewing out gold all at once. Just that one time felt like more than your three hours yesterday,” Lin Nian said with a smile.
"Wow, that's awesome, haha. I knew there would be a lot, but I didn't expect there to be so many. Although it's hard to move big rocks, if I could get this much from every single one, I'd be willing to drill my head every day."
Moving a single rock could cost tens of thousands of yuan; Li Chunlai found the thought incredibly appealing.
