"What about you? You didn't find anything all morning, did you?" Huang Fei asked.
"Nothing at all, bad luck today." Chen Feng said, sitting on the car seat, taking off his backpack, and picking up the food that was placed on the seat.
Huang Fei didn't leave either, and Chen Feng found the food too heavy to carry, so he threw all the food into the car and only carried a bottle of water.
"What's wrong, Fengzi? You're not in good form today. I've already found the goods, and you haven't won a single one yet?"
"There's not even any wire or iron?" Huang Fei said, picking up his lunchbox and taking a bite of food.
"I didn't take them, I threw them all away," Chen Feng said, tearing open a bread bag.
“Why don’t you take them? You can save up more and sell them for some money. I see everyone else is taking them,” Huang Fei said.
"Too lazy to save up," Chen Feng said with a shrug.
The two quickly finished their meal. Huang Fei took out his cigarette case, handed a cigarette to Chen Feng, and lit one for himself.
He was in a really good mood at that moment, having earned a considerable amount of money in a day.
"I'm sleepy." Huang Fei took a drag of his cigarette, leaned back in the driver's seat, and turned to Chen Feng with a smile.
"You get sleepy right after eating?" Chen Feng laughed.
"I got up too early this morning and you dragged me out of bed before I was ready."
Huang Fei originally intended to rest for a while before going to pan for gold.
But the car was warm and cozy inside, and it was really comfortable to lean back in the seat.
Since I've already earned so much, it's time to reward myself and take a break.
"Fengzi, I'm going to take a nap. You can go shopping as you like," Huang Fei said, leaning back in his seat and comfortably closing his eyes.
"Okay, you can go to sleep." After resting for a while, Chen Feng picked up his things and prepared to get off the bus.
Then I looked at Huang Fei, who was fast asleep, sleeping soundly.
Chen Feng smiled, took his things, and quietly got out of the car without disturbing him.
This time, Chen Feng walked in the opposite direction, no longer going to the place he had visited in the morning, and his choice proved to be correct.
I had only walked a few dozen meters when the system notification sounded.
"bite!"
“There is precious metal within a three-meter radius of the host!”
Chen Feng glanced around and noticed a pit on the ground. He recognized the pit all too well; it was the mark left by gold prospectors.
Chen Feng was puzzled. He walked over and scanned the pit with the detector. There was no sound inside the pit, but the sound came from the side of the pit.
He squatted down and looked around, and then he saw a small, rusty piece of iron on the ground.
The system message is still there.
“This wasn’t Huang Fei’s work. He wasn’t here this morning. It’s probably a hole left by other gold prospectors.”
Chen Feng roughly guessed what was going on.
Generally speaking, gold prospectors will avoid any trace left by others and go to other locations.
The fact that there are traces here proves that it has already been searched, and continuing to search would be a waste of time.
Chen Feng never expected that there would be hidden goods in the place where the gold prospectors had panned.
"Since you haven't found it, I'll gladly accept it." Chen Feng smiled and began drawing circles.
After a thorough, sweeping search, the detector finally went off at the edge of the circle.
"Ooh-woo~"
Chen Feng took out a shovel, squatted down, and began tapping the soil.
After seven or eight shovelfuls, Chen Feng had a sizable silver coin in his hand, worth about forty or fifty yuan.
Looking at the silver nuggets in his hand, Chen Feng honestly felt like laughing.
He was also puzzled as to why the previous gold prospector was able to accurately avoid the correct answer and instead pan out the iron while leaving the silver in the ground.
Perhaps this is fate; if he had just leaned one meter to the side, this silver nugget would have been his.
After putting the silver particles into a bottle, Chen Feng carried the detector and continued walking forward.
The afternoon passed quickly. Chen Feng took out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack, unscrewed it, took a sip, and glanced at the time.
It's a little past 5:20 now.
His small bottle was already full; he had found quite a few silver nuggets throughout the afternoon. Although he hadn't found any more gold, he was quite satisfied.
Chen Feng needed to buy shoes for his mother, so he prepared to return to the car and tell Huang Fei to go home.
When Chen Feng got into the car with his things, he found that Huang Fei was still asleep, his mouth open and his eyes closed, looking very sound asleep.
Ha~ Ha~
Chen Feng gently nudged him and said, "Dafei, it's time, don't sleep."
It took several pokes to wake Huang Fei. He was startled to see Chen Feng and instinctively picked up his phone, saying, "Oh dear, how long have I been asleep? I even forgot about gold panning."
"I'll get off the bus and pan for gold after I catch my breath."
Chen Feng chuckled upon hearing this and said, "No need, you can drive home after you've calmed down a bit."
"It's already 5:30, what's the point of shopping anymore?"
Huang Fei looked at the time on his phone, slapped his forehead in disbelief, yawned and said, "My God, I actually slept for so long, it feels like only half an hour has passed."
Chen Feng sat down, took off his backpack and put it aside, saying, "Coincidentally, I feel the same way every night when I go to sleep."
"It was already daylight when I opened my eyes; I thought I had just fallen asleep."
Upon hearing this, Huang Fei chuckled, realizing that it made sense.
"Alright, I've had a great day anyway, so I might as well go home for dinner."
"By the way, Fengzi, how was the afternoon? How much did you buy?" Huang Fei started the car and only then remembered to ask.
"Air Force, we've already spent all our money on ham sausages." Chen Feng lit a cigarette and then handed one to Huang Fei.
"Ah, that bad?" Huang Fei said in surprise, taking the cigarette and putting it in his mouth.
"Is that so?"
Chen Feng said with a positive attitude, and from Huang Fei's perspective, Chen Feng's mindset was not bad.
"It's okay, maybe you'll find one next time. It's perfectly normal for gold prospectors to fail."
"We just had the wrong orientation today, let's come back tomorrow," Huang Fei comforted him.
"Yeah, it's nothing, I didn't even think about it," Chen Feng said nonchalantly.
Huang Fei quickly drove the car to the county town, and the two of them got out of the car together.
"Fengzi, should I go with you to buy shoes first, or should we go sell goods together?" Huang Fei asked.
"I haven't even searched what I'm selling. You go ahead and sell it. I'll just go to the mall next door, buy a pair of shoes, and come right back."
"If you've sold out, just wait for me in the car," Chen Feng said with a chuckle.
Huang Fei thought it over and agreed, saying, "Okay, I'm going to sell my goods now. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay, go ahead."
After they finished talking, Huang Fei went to the gold shop he frequented, while Chen Feng stood on the street looking back and forth before entering a relatively large shopping mall.
After entering, I went straight to the women's shoe store and came to a store whose brand I didn't know.
"Hello, are you looking to choose women's shoes?" A saleswoman who looked to be about forty years old came up and asked.
"Yes, buy my mom a pair of shoes, the kind she's wearing now."
"Okay, how about these sneakers? They're lightweight and durable. If you're not satisfied, we also have leather shoes," the salesperson explained.
"Leather shoes won't do." Chen Feng shook his head. His mother needed to wear them for working in the fields, and leather shoes would be too tiring. These sneakers would be just fine.
