"Okay, you guys wait for me here."
Huang Fei pulled his coat tight and ran towards the prefabricated house. He took the keys, opened the car door, and got in. The moment he sat in the driver's seat, he took a deep breath and felt incredibly refreshed.
It feels so nice not having any strong winds.
Huang Fei started the engine, shifted gears, and drove forward. When they arrived at their destination, Chen Feng and the others rushed over and got into the car as if they had seen a savior.
"I'll go, I'll go." Li Chunlai plopped down in the back and rubbed his hands together.
"My face feels so cold today, let's turn on the heater." Lin Nian said, touching his face.
"That feels great." Chen Feng leaned back in the passenger seat and shivered.
"The heater's on. You should have told me you'd drive over this morning. It's freezing." Huang Fei said, lighting a cigarette.
It's impossible to light a cigarette outside; Huang Fei has been wanting one for a long time.
"Smack."
"Smack."
"Smack."
After he lit his cigarette, there was a simultaneous sound of three lighters being lit inside the car. The three men moved in unison, each taking a deep drag of their cigarette before slowly exhaling.
In an instant, smoke began to fill the car, making it look like a fairyland.
Chen Feng casually cracked open the car window to let the smoke escape, otherwise everyone would be poisoned.
"How long will this digging take? It seems like we've expanded really far today," Lin Nian asked Chen Jianguo.
"It's deep, we'll have to dig for a while. If things go well, we won't have to suffer too much. If things go badly, we'll probably have to go in and start digging."
Chen Feng took a drag of his cigarette and said.
"Do you think there's such a strong wind in the pit?" Li Chunlai asked idly.
"Who knows? I've never experienced this before, but I guess it'll be a little smaller?" Lin Nian guessed.
Just as they were still guessing, Chen Jianguo called.
"How's it going? Is it warm in the car?" Chen Jianguo asked.
"It's warm. It gets really hot when the heater is on." Chen Feng reached out and tested the air vent.
"You guys have it good, but my excavator is drafty, and the wind is blowing in so hard it's making my calves feel cold."
"Get ready to come down. I feel like there's granite down there, and I can't dig any further," Chen Jianguo said.
"Okay, we're coming down now," Chen Feng said, and hung up the phone.
"Let's go, guys, we've got a job."
Although Chen Feng didn't turn on speakerphone, his phone was very loud, and they could hear it clearly in the car.
"Come on, let me take another puff." Huang Fei took another drag of his cigarette butt and threw it out the window.
The group got out of the car and prepared to get their tools from the trunk.
"Oh my god."
As soon as he came out, Huang Fei was so exposed to the wind that he couldn't open his eyes. He was used to being comfortable in the car, so the feeling was even more pronounced when he came out.
"Quick, quick, get the tools and go into the pit, it'll be better there." Li Chunlai carried the impact drill and ran forward, and the others also jogged along with their tools.
Once they got into the pit, they immediately felt that the wind had subsided considerably. Although there was still some wind, it was a huge difference compared to the wind blowing outside.
"It's alright down here, at least the wind isn't too strong," Huang Fei said, tapping the pit with his pickaxe.
"This still looks like granite," he said, squatting down and touching the grayish-white powder.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's drill." Li Chunlai didn't waste any time, and started drilling as soon as he pressed the drill bit to the ground.
"Clang clang clang clang".
He and Huang Fei attacked from both sides, and the granite below gradually crumbled.
Chen Feng stepped slightly outwards, his brows furrowed.
In his mind, the gold wasn't under the granite.
They were standing at least two meters away from the gold.
If this is all granite, then things will be really bad. Even if you have a hammer drill, it will take you a long time to drill through it.
As they went deeper, the ground below was so badly damaged that it was almost impossible to stand; it was all broken rocks, and they couldn't drill any further.
"Go up there, let Uncle Qing do a quick check first," Huang Fei said, pulling out the impact drill.
Several people climbed up and waved to Chen Jianguo. Chen Jianguo, with a cigarette in his mouth, nodded in response. After they had gone far away, he started the excavator and began to dig down with the bucket.
After a few scoops, all the rubble was removed. Li Chunlai and Huang Fei then jumped down with their things, while Chen Feng and Huang Fei watched them from the edge of the pit.
Going down now is useless; the bottom hasn't been cleared yet.
Of course, it's not entirely useless, since it's sheltered from the wind underneath and doesn't blow as much...
"I'm tapping, and this is still deep! How deep is it anyway?" Huang Fei said, pointing with the impact drill.
"Could this mean we've struck some kind of bedrock layer?" Li Chunlai said, unusually using a technical term.
After the two finished speaking, they both looked up at Chen Feng. Seeing this, Chen Feng could only helplessly spread his hands.
He didn't know either.
"Go ahead and drill, it doesn't matter what layer it is, I just want to see how deep it can go." Li Chunlai refused to believe it.
And so the two continued to drill down, the rocks cracking like a spider web before being shattered.
After smashing the rock again, Li Chunlai and Huang Fei felt their hands go numb from the shock.
This job isn't particularly tiring, it's just very shaky.
"Try it again." Li Chunlai and Huang Fei went up, and Chen Jianguo understood what he meant from the gesture, so he started the excavator and began digging.
I dug up a full shovelful of stones and tilted it to one side. By sheer coincidence, the wind suddenly changed direction. Although the stones couldn't be blown away, the small pebbles and sand inside were blown away very easily.
All of those things were used up and blew directly onto Li Chunlai and Huang Fei, who were standing to the side.
"Holy crap!"
"oops!"
When the two realized what was happening, it was too late. They could only turn around abruptly and shut their mouths and eyes tightly.
The key point is that even with just that, they could both feel the tiny grains of sand scraping against the back of their heads.
"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey, I've got sand in my mouth, wipe it away," Huang Fei said, spitting out several mouthfuls of sand.
"I suggest we keep our distance next time. How can this hair be blown back?" Li Chunlai said, running his fingers through his hair.
When he brushed his hair aside, you could clearly see grains of sand flying out.
Upon seeing their miserable state, Chen Jianguo couldn't help but laugh out loud, before quickly suppressing his laughter.
He bears half the responsibility for this. He was just lazy, so he didn't move the soil further away. If he had moved it further away, even if it was blown back, it wouldn't have affected them.
After all the stones had been sifted out, Chen Jianguo took a step back, indicating that they could come forward.
Moreover, he clearly felt that the excavator could no longer extend further.
If you want to dig further down, there are only two ways.
First, he could expand the surrounding area further so that the excavator could drill deeper, but if he expanded it further, the time would increase exponentially.
Secondly, they planned to use manpower to dig and find a way to transport the soil from below to the surface.
