Chapter 7 First Shipment

"Yeah, we're all walking in a straight line, scanning the detector left and right, but he's just drawing circles here."

"I don't know, who would pan for gold like that? It would be a miracle if he actually succeeded," Song Hui said with a mocking smile.

The group chattered amongst themselves, and Zheng Ping, seeing Chen Feng's detection method, felt somewhat helpless.

Thinking that Chen Feng was a novice and didn't know much about gold mining, I had to teach him the correct methods.

As soon as Zheng Ping walked up, before he could even speak, he heard a sound coming from the detector in Chen Feng's hand.

"Ooh-woo~"

Upon hearing this sound, Zheng Ping's eyes widened slightly. He hadn't expected that Chen Feng would actually find something using this unorthodox detection method.

He quickly stepped forward, pointed to the spot where the sound had just come from, and said, "Don't rush, explore slowly, it seems like it was right here."

The moment Chen Feng heard the detector's sound, he couldn't help but grin. He slowly probed with the detector and finally determined the location of the cargo based on the sound.

He squatted down to take out a shovel from his bag, but Zheng Ping handed him the shovel hanging on his bag and squatted down with him.

Chen Feng looked up and smiled, took the shovel, scooped up a spadeful of soil, and began to work it on the detector.

Those companions who were looking over here widened their eyes in surprise when they saw the two of them squat down.

"Holy crap, what's going on? Did they find something?"

"It seems so. Otherwise, why would they be squatting down? Look, aren't they shoveling dirt?"

"Holy crap, this kid is really lucky. I haven't even found a piece of iron yet, and he's a newbie who actually found something."

Song Hui looked at Chen Feng and his companion's figures with surprise in his eyes, and snorted, "What's the use of finding them? We're not even sure if we'll actually get the goods. Why are you so surprised?"

Those around him nodded in agreement. Indeed, it was too early to be happy; they didn't even know what it was yet.

"Ooh-woo~"

The detector went off as Chen Feng held the shovel over it.

"Take your time, pour out only a little at a time, so you don't spill the goods and make them hard to find," Zheng Ping instructed, watching the shovel from the side.

Chen Feng slightly raised the shovel and continued to move it over the detector. After moving it twice, the detector was still beeping.

Chen Feng then held the shovel in his left hand and extended his index finger with his right hand, rummaging around inside the shovel.

Zheng Ping was also helping Chen Feng look when he suddenly noticed a grayish-white object. He immediately laughed and pointed at the shovel in Chen Feng's hand.

"The goods are over there!"

Chen Feng also saw the small white particle, picked it up, and ran it through the metal detector.

"Ooh-woo~"

The sound confirms that this is the item in question.

"This isn't iron, is it?" Chen Feng looked at the object in his hand, chuckled, and said to Zheng Ping.

Zheng Ping took the small piece, examined it carefully, and said happily, "No, no, this is silver!"

"And it looks quite big, probably four or five grams. Gold is four hundred now, and silver is eight."

"After removing one-third of the impurities, it should yield about three grams after refining. Three times eight is twenty-four, so that's twenty-four yuan!"

Because the gold and silver they mined contained many impurities and were not pure gold, they needed to take them to a sales point to be refined into pure gold before the seller would accept them.

Typical losses are around one-third.

Zheng Ping laughed, patted Chen Feng on the shoulder, and returned the small silver coin to him.

Chen Feng was overjoyed with his first shipment. He took out a glass bottle he had prepared beforehand from his pocket, put the small silver particles inside, and closed the lid.

Those nearby also heard their laughter and looked at them in shock.

"What's going on? Why are they laughing so happily? Did they actually get a shipment?"

"I don't know! Really? Chen Feng really found something good?!"

"Holy crap, what's going on, Lao Zheng? What's wrong?!"

These people put down what they were holding and looked at Chen Feng. Some of them couldn't contain their curiosity and shouted.

"Shipping out! Shipping out! A silver nugget, and it's not small at all, worth several tens of dollars!"

Zheng Ping stood up and laughed heartily, as if he were the one who had shipped the goods.

Those around him were shocked upon hearing this, staring in disbelief at Chen Feng, who was shaking the small bottle in his hand.

"Huh? You actually have it?" Song Hui looked at the two of them with considerable surprise, his eyes filled with disbelief.

He just said that someone like Chen Feng definitely wouldn't be able to find anything, but he was proven wrong so quickly.

Chen Feng had only been there for less than an hour when he found silver nuggets worth tens of yuan. His luck was just too good.

"Damn, this kid actually found a prime location, and he's got some goods right off the bat."

"No wonder he kept looking around and wouldn't leave. It turns out he heard the noise. Damn."

"I was wondering why this kid kept drawing circles. Turns out he'd found something."

The crowd looked at Chen Feng with a mixture of envy and jealousy, and then continued to use their detectors to scan for mines.

It's no use just looking at others; no matter how long you look, it won't become your own.

"Great start! You're really lucky. Keep it up! If you can scrape together a hundred, then we'll be making a killing today." Zheng Ping said with a smile as he took the shovel Chen Feng handed him.

"Haha, you too. Anyway, there's still plenty of time, no rush." Chen Feng picked up the detector lying on the ground and said the same thing.

Zheng Ping picked up the detector and began to probe downwards, while Chen Feng continued with the same routine, strolling back and forth, looking for his own auspicious spot.

"Ooh-woo~"

Someone finally detected something, a long-lost smile appeared on their face, and they squatted down to start shoveling across the detector.

Unfortunately, he didn't have Chen Feng's good luck. A few minutes later, he looked at the brass-like object in his hand and sighed.

It's better than nothing, and it's better than a block of iron. If you accumulate enough brass, it can be worth some money.

About fifteen minutes later, Chen Feng finally heard the system notification again.

He couldn't help but chuckle, then started drawing circles around the spot, marking out an area, and began a thorough sweep.

"Ooh-woo~"

Upon hearing the sound, Chen Feng couldn't help but grin. He immediately knelt down and took out the small shovel from his bag.

They shoveled it down, ran it over the detector, and found nothing.

Chen Feng shoveled again with force, but after checking the detector, he still found no goods.

He kept digging with his shovel, piling up a small mound of dirt next to him, before the detector finally went off.

"Oh my, let me see what kind of quality you really are."

"Gold! Gold! Gold!"

Chen Feng shouted loudly as he threw soil down.
