After working for more than an hour, Lin Nian increasingly realized that something was wrong. The rocks in front of him were getting bigger and bigger. At first, he could move them quite easily, but now it was becoming more and more difficult.
"Chunlai, let's switch, I'm a little too tired to keep going," Lin Nian said, sweat beading on his forehead.
"Okay, here you go, you can use it." Li Chunlai handed him the tube and went to change shifts without thinking too much.
He swam to the front, tried to lift the large rock, gritted his teeth, and flipped it over.
He moved the stone several times before finally managing to move it.
When Li Chunlai returned, he was completely bewildered by the endless pile of stones and didn't know where to begin.
"No, how am I supposed to do this? Even if you work me to death, I can't possibly finish translating all of this," Li Chunlai said to Lin Nian.
"What should we do then? How about I help you move it, and we can smoke it after we're done?" Lin Nian was also having a bit of a headache.
"No, although the two of them can move it quickly, their strength is limited, and they can't do it for very long."
"Let's go up first and discuss it with Brother Feng," Li Chunlai said, urging him to go up together.
"What's going on?" Chen Feng asked when he heard the voice in his earpiece.
“There are huge rocks down there. Although the two of us can move them with a little effort, we can’t move them all,” Li Chunlai said as he surfaced.
Upon hearing this, Chen Feng put down the plate, walked out of the pit, and waited for the two of them to come up before Lin Nian carefully explained the situation to Chen Feng.
"What should we do? Should we hammer in nails and use a truck to haul it in?" Huang Fei suggested from the side.
“That would require driving in so many nails, and there are endless rocks underwater. Even if you tow the car to pieces, you still wouldn’t be able to get rid of them all,” Lin Nian immediately rejected the suggestion.
"Just how big is the rock?" Chen Feng asked, taking a deep breath.
"Let's put it this way, we can move it if we put our strength into it, but we can't keep moving it forever." Lin Nian roughly gestured how long it was.
“This won’t do. We need to find something to pull it, and isn’t this situation becoming more and more common?” Chen Jianguo asked, frowning.
"Yes, I glanced at it when I came up, and that's basically the situation, but I didn't see anything too far away," Li Chunlai replied.
“That’s basically it. You can use a truck to tow it occasionally, but you can’t keep doing it all the time. Try to rent a crane to lift all the stones up. That will make things much easier,” Chen Jianguo suggested.
"It seems there's no better way. Huang Fei, come with me, let's rent a crane," Chen Feng said.
"Wait a minute, I'll go with you guys. I'll check the model." Chen Jianguo got into the car as well.
Watching the car slowly drive away, Li Chunlai shrugged at Lin Nian and said, "Alright, now it's just the two of us. Let's play with gold if we're bored."
"Okay, let's go then," Lin Nian said, stretching.
And so, the car quickly drove into the city.
"Hello, what do you need to rent, an excavator or a crane?" the owner asked the three people inside the house.
"How much does it cost to rent a small crane per day?" Chen Jianguo asked.
"It depends on which one you want, the price ranges from eight hundred to one thousand five hundred," the shopkeeper replied.
"Then show me what's here," Chen Jianguo said.
"Okay, come on over here, a few of you." The boss led them to the parking lot, where all sorts of mechanical vehicles were parked.
"This one will do. How much per day?" Chen Jianguo had driven these things before, so he knew his way around and directly selected a crane.
"This costs 1,000 a day," the boss replied.
"Okay, this one will do. You have to deliver it to my location. I want a long-term lease. Can you give me a discount? I can open it myself." Chen Jianguo said to the shop owner.
"Long-term lease, how long?" The boss seemed unsure.
"It will take at least half a month," Chen Jianguo replied.
"Hmm... how about this, if you're sure you don't need a driver for fifteen days or more, I'll give you eight hundred a day, what do you think?" the boss said, looking up.
“Okay, eight hundred it is. Transport it to this location. There’s someone there to receive it.” Chen Jianguo sent him a location.
"Okay, then let's do it this way. Shall we pay for fifteen days first?" the boss asked, holding up his phone.
"Pay for fifteen days first, and I'll transfer the money to you once the machine arrives," Chen Jianguo nodded.
"Alright, alright, I'll send someone to prepare for transport right away," the boss said.
"Let's ship it."
After exchanging a few more words, the three of them returned to the car.
"Why don't we go back with him? We're going the same way anyway." Huang Fei didn't quite understand why they had to wait here for a while.
"I'm wondering, even if we've rented all the cranes, how are we going to haul the rocks up?"
"Are we supposed to drill holes in each one, tie all the ropes together, and then use a crane to lift them?" Chen Jianguo hesitated.
"It seems like this is the only way for now," Huang Fei said, scratching his head.
"Then how about we get a basket, have them put all the stones in the basket underwater, and then use a crane to lift them up? That would save us some trouble," Chen Feng suggested from the side.
"This method sounds good, and it's much faster than drilling holes one by one. But where can I buy one of these hanging baskets? Do you have any here?"
Huang Fei looked around in the car but couldn't see if there were any hanging baskets for sale.
“What a joke. Let’s do it ourselves. Come on, let’s go to Brother Qi’s place and get a welding machine and some steel pipes.” Chen Jianguo started fiddling with the navigation system.
"Wow, Uncle, you can even make this yourself?" Huang Fei asked in surprise.
"Just kidding, I know a lot more than you guys don't know." Chen Jianguo started his car and drove towards Brother Qi's mine.
Brother Qi was overjoyed to hear that they were coming, as he had been wanting them to come recently anyway.
Although Chen Feng has already settled things at the construction site and there hasn't been any trouble lately, it's always good to come and show your face from time to time.
Upon arriving at Brother Qi's office, Brother Qi came out to greet me.
"Quickly, come inside and talk. I've already brewed the tea for you." Brother Qi welcomed them in.
"Uncle Qi, you're too kind. Please have a seat." Chen Feng pulled him into the house.
"How's the water mine going? Any difficulties?" Brother Qi asked as he sat down.
"It's alright, I can make about 100,000 yuan a day on average. Of course, it's really difficult to harvest them, these kids are in the water every day, haha." Chen Jianguo handed over a cigarette and said.
There's no need to hide the income from him. When it comes time to sell, we'll still have to give it to Brother Qi. We'll have him sell it at the designated bank, and he'll find out sooner or later anyway.
"Okay, as long as there's income, that's good. I didn't expect you guys to actually succeed in your research. That's really great." Brother Qi was happy for them when he heard this.
"By the way, Brother Qi, there are quite a few stones in the river. I'm thinking of getting a welding machine and some steel bars to weld an iron frame to hold the stones. Do you have any extra?" Chen Jianguo asked.
"Yes, of course we have them. You can go directly to the mine to get them. If you can't find them, call the accountant and ask him." Brother Qi readily agreed.
