The bread was too big for it to lift, so Chen Feng gently placed it on the ground.
The mouse circled the bread twice, seemingly surprised and happy. It turned back to look at Chen Feng, its two front paws moving up and down as if thanking him.
"Wow, brother, you can't accept that. I should be thanking you."
Upon seeing this, Chen Feng immediately spoke up, clasped his hands together, and bowed as well.
He believed he had gotten a great deal and that he should thank Brother Rat if anyone was to be thanked.
If there were outsiders present, they would be absolutely stunned by this scene. A human and a rat are actually bowing to each other! Are you two going to become sworn brothers?
"Dude, do you still have any of this? If you do, take me there again, okay?" Chen Feng whispered to Brother Rat, clutching the gold.
He felt that the mouse seemed to understand human speech, so he started communicating with it.
The mouse took a bite of the bread, but this time it seemed not to understand Chen Feng's words, and turned around and scurried back into its burrow.
Before long, he emerged with several mice, one of which was as big as him, and several smaller mice.
After the rats came out, they started gnawing on bread. Chen Feng squatted on the ground and looked at them with a smile.
Even without gold, Chen Feng was satisfied. This was an extremely unexpected and delightful surprise. Who would have thought that a rat could give him a piece of gold?
Chen Feng took out another bottle of water from his bag. There wasn't much water left in the bottle. Chen Feng put the cap on the ground, poured out a little, and pushed it in front of the bread.
Apart from the first mouse, all the other mice instinctively ran away when they saw Chen Feng's actions, until they realized that Chen Feng meant no harm, and then they returned to eat the bread.
A little mouse cautiously approached the bottle cap, taking almost three steps back for every step it took. Only after realizing that Chen Feng was not moving did it dare to go forward and drink the water.
The first mouse would take a few bites and then glance at Chen Feng, occasionally looking at the other mouse.
Chen Feng couldn't help but laugh when he saw that they were actually drinking water.
After adding more food to their food several times, the first mouse looked at Chen Feng, walked to a spot, and started digging.
Seeing this, Chen Feng quickly followed, after all, this guy was no ordinary rat, and he wouldn't do anything without a reason.
As the mouse dug a small hole, Chen Feng's system suddenly beeped, which startled him greatly.
"Holy crap, it really exists?"
To be honest, even Chen Feng himself felt it was a bit outrageous. It seemed that this mouse really knew what he needed.
After the mouse finished digging the hole, it crawled into its own hole, and the other mice stopped eating and all crawled in as well.
Chen Feng, his eyes wide with surprise, was left squatting beside the small pit.
He took the detector and probed the small pit; the detector immediately went off.
"Ooh-woo~"
Chen Feng was truly dumbfounded. The mouse's location was even more accurate than a detector; it was really right there!
He took out a small shovel and began to shovel the soil, one shovelful at a time.
The goods were buried quite deep this time, and Chen Feng had to dig with many shovels before he could finally find them.
Chen Feng crushed the large clods of earth with his hands, and a gold nugget fell to the ground. He couldn't stop smiling.
This gold nugget is estimated to be worth six or seven hundred. Although it's not as big as the previous one, it's still quite good.
"I love you to death, Brother Rat." Chen Feng threw the gold nugget into the bottle and whispered back to the rat hole.
If he were to tell them back home that a mouse led Chen Feng to find two thousand yuan worth of gold, probably no one would believe him; they would all say that Chen Feng was talking nonsense and bragging.
A mouse can lead you to gold? Has it become a spirit?
Unfortunately, it really is true, and even Chen Feng himself finds it unbelievable.
Putting away his tools, Chen Feng figured that Brother Rat wasn't coming out and they were out of stock, so he continued to probe deeper inside.
The winding mine tunnel was empty except for some miscellaneous items. Chen Feng had no idea how deep he had gone; he just felt colder and colder, and goosebumps rose all over his body.
He knew this; no matter how hot it was outside, it was getting colder and colder underground. Even the miners had to wear cotton-padded clothes to work, otherwise they simply couldn't bear it.
Chen Feng was wearing only a short-sleeved shirt, and this was probably the only part of his shirt he could reach. He was shivering from the cold.
And since the system didn't go off after a long time, there probably wasn't much stock left inside.
After rubbing his arms, Chen Feng started walking back. He stopped when he passed by Brother Rat's lair.
The water in the bottle cap had been drunk up, and Chen Feng guessed that another mouse had just come out to drink.
Chen Feng unscrewed another bottle of water, filled it with the cap, took out a piece of bread, took two bites himself, and then placed it next to the mouse hole.
"Brother, once we leave, we don't know when we'll meet again. This is just a small token of our appreciation. I'll take my leave now."
Chen Feng spoke softly into the rat hole, then turned and left.
As Chen Feng's figure disappeared around the corner, a rat crawled out of its hole, raised its front paws and looked towards the corner, then scurried back in a few seconds later.
Chen Feng quickly reached the intersection. To be honest, he was a bit cold. He wanted to explore the mine on the right again, but he decided to go out and warm up first.
As he got closer to the cave entrance, he could hear the wind whistling through it.
Light appeared before him, and he walked straight toward it. The moment he stepped out of the cave, Chen Feng took a deep breath.
The blazing sun felt warm and comfortable on his skin, and he didn't feel hot at all. Chen Feng felt extremely comfortable.
Although it's cool inside the cave, it's still more comfortable outside. The environment inside the cave is too oppressive, and people really can't stay there for long; it's best to go there occasionally.
After resting outside for a while and having a cigarette, Chen Feng went from feeling warm at first to feeling a bit hot.
He turned around and went back into the cave, this time intending to explore the right side.
To be honest, if Chen Feng didn't go and take a look, he wouldn't be able to sleep at night, and he would dream about what was on the right side.
He soon reached the fork in the road and this time went straight to the right.
The same steel frame supports it, but for some reason, there's some loose soil on the right side of the land, whereas the road on the left was completely dry.
After walking a few steps, Chen Feng saw a safety helmet with a crack on it and the name of the mine printed on it. It seemed to be the safety helmet from this mine.
He turned the hat up, revealing nothing underneath, pursed his lips, and continued walking forward.
As Chen Feng continued walking, he saw a very long and thick pipe, so thick that it could fit him inside.
Upon closer inspection, Chen Feng discovered that the pipe was cracked and the system hadn't made any noise, indicating that there was no stock. Chen Feng lightly kicked the pipe and continued walking forward.
This thing isn't worth much; if it were valuable, Chen Feng could take it.
As Chen Feng walked further in, he saw a pile of tattered clothes, all of which were work clothes from the mine, and they were filthy.
Chen Feng slowed down as he passed by, but unfortunately the system didn't respond.
