"Come on, I bought a roast goose today. Let's taste it tonight and see how it's seasoned, hahaha," Huang Fei said, looking at the pile of gold.
"Come on, I've been smelling the fragrance coming from the car for ages." Li Chunlai handed the gold to Chen Feng, and the group walked back together.
Chen Feng returned to the prefab house and poured the gold into the large box.
The box was full of gold, which left Chen Feng completely bewildered.
He reached out and grabbed a handful, then slowly scattered it. For some reason, Chen Feng suddenly felt like an ancient Egyptian pharaoh.
The feeling of extravagance came over me instantly.
"Tsk tsk tsk, this is the only thing that's comfortable to look at."
Chen Feng closed the box and went outside. Huang Fei was already breaking apart the roast goose.
"Damn, one roast goose costs as much as four roast chickens. I just want to see what this thing tastes like."
After breaking the roast goose apart, Huang Fei washed his hands, and everyone sat down together.
Everyone picked up a piece of roast goose and put it in their mouths to chew.
"Hmm...it tastes good, but why do I feel..." Lin Nian hesitated for a moment.
“It tastes just like roast chicken,” Li Chunlai added for him.
“Indeed, apart from the meat being chewier than roast chicken, there doesn’t seem to be much difference,” Chen Feng added.
"Damn it, I get fooled every day, and every time it's different. I've been tricked by that old man again," Huang Fei said, somewhat annoyed.
This roast goose is quite expensive, but it seems to be no different from roast chicken. I should have just bought roast chicken; for the same price, I could have bought almost four.
"It smells pretty good, let's eat it like roast chicken." Chen Feng's words pierced Huang Fei's heart even more.
The next day, Li Chunlai and Lin Nian went into the water and continued to push forward.
The two of them cleared an area, used a crane to send the stones up, and Lin Nian started sucking them up with a pipe.
Nothing special happened today; it was the same work process, and nothing unusual occurred.
By around 4 p.m., the area had been basically cleared away.
"Brother Feng, why don't you come down and take a look? See if there's any gold hidden at the bottom of the riverbed," Lin Nian asked.
"You two come up here, I'll go down and take a look." Chen Feng knew there was gold in this place, but very little.
But thinking that it might be a waste not to make a profit, I decided to chisel a few holes anyway.
After they came up, Chen Feng changed his clothes and went into the water. Lin Nian simply didn't take off his clothes and went down into the water with Chen Feng again.
Upon reaching the riverbed, Chen Feng gestured with the impact drill for a while, then pressed down to start chiseling.
"Clang clang clang clang".
"Suck it in." Chen Feng said and then began to swim away.
"Hey, Brother Feng, why did you leave? Weren't you supposed to be chiseling?" Lin Nian asked, somewhat bewildered.
“This is thin, you can just poke it through, you can just wash it clean.” Chen Feng’s voice came through the earpiece.
"Oh." Lin Nian finally understood what was going on and started sucking through the tube.
After they sucked away all the rubble, they just saw the gold but before they could even suck it up properly, it was gone.
"Wow, so little!" Lin Nian stared at the pit in surprise. Then, unwilling to give up, he reached in and scooped it up. After finding that there was indeed nothing left, he pursed his lips and left.
"There's not much here today, don't expect it to be like yesterday," Chen Feng added.
"How far away is it before we find another dark cave like this?" Lin Nian asked expectantly.
This river is so big, there must be a few more fish in it.
"Who knows? We'll find out when we find it." Chen Feng shook his head, pressed down on the impact drill, and started working hard.
"All done, come here."
After finishing his drug use, Chen Feng went to find the next one, while Lin Nian cleaned up the scene.
"This pit seems to be even smaller than the last one," Lin Nian said, rummaging around in the pit.
There weren't many of these pits today; Chen Feng only managed to hit four or five before telling Lin Nian to go back.
"That's all, Feng-ge," Lin Nian said, still feeling unsatisfied.
Although today's harvest is far less than yesterday's, even a small fly is still meat.
"That's all. Don't get your hopes up. We had a lot of trouble finding these." Chen Feng said as he floated to the shore, and Lin Nian also floated up.
After taking off his clothes, Chen Feng said to Li Chunlai, "You don't need to serve us anymore. Go and get the buckets and see how much money we made today."
“Okay.” Li Chunlai said, taking the bucket over and collecting the gold before coming over to sift it.
"Let me weigh it and see," Li Chunlai said, placing the gold on the electronic scale and then taking out his phone to calculate.
“After accounting for losses, the total is over 240,060, which is quite a lot,” Li Chunlai said in surprise.
"That's quite a lot. There aren't many hidden treasures down there today. It seems like only five openings were made, and there's not much inside yet."
"This is already quite an achievement," Lin Nian said, standing up.
"How much did you earn today?" Lin Nian asked Huang Fei.
"Yes, it's all here." Huang Fei showed them the gold in the small box.
"Here, let me weigh it." Li Chunlai took the gold and weighed it. He was surprised even by his own calculations.
"Wow, they sifted over 18,000 gold coins today alone?" Li Chunlai exclaimed incredulously.
He felt that the sifting hadn't taken very long, but he didn't expect Huang Fei to be so efficient.
"Bullshit, that includes yesterday's," Huang Fei couldn't help but say.
"Oh right, yesterday we were so focused on weighing the big ones that we completely forgot about the small ones. We're sifting an average of nine thousand a day, that's fine." Li Chunlai didn't seem to mind as he poured the gold together and handed it to Chen Feng.
They continued sifting in the river for three or four days, gradually moving downstream from the middle section.
"I'll take the first shift today. You two have been on the first shift for the past few days," Huang Fei said while eating breakfast.
The breakfast for the group was very simple: ten packs of instant noodles, seven or eight eggs, and some ham sausages.
There was nothing he could do; the food was all gone yesterday, not a single dish was left, so Chen Jianguo couldn't cook two dishes this morning.
“Okay, then you’ll take the first shift. I’ll switch with you this afternoon,” Lin Nian said.
After putting on their diving suits on the shore, Li Chunlai and Huang Fei went into the water with their pipes, while Chen Feng and Lin Nian returned to the pit to continue sifting for gold.
If we spend another half a day sifting today, I estimate we'll finish sifting this pit, and then we can move on to the next pit.
Lin Nian and Li Chunlai felt something was off about today as soon as they got into the water.
"Holy crap, why is the current so strong today?" Li Chunlai exclaimed in surprise, looking in the direction the water was coming from, and swam forward a little.
Normally, I can just slowly dive to the bottom of the water, but today, even just being submerged makes me feel like I'm going to float away, and I have to keep swimming back.
"Could it be that there's a flood upstream?" Huang Fei guessed.
This is incredibly unlucky. Huang Fei rarely works the early shift today, and then the flood hits. Forget about making money, he can't even stand up straight.
"Let's try diving to the bottom first," Li Chunlai said, as he plunged into the water.
