"You're really awesome. Let's hurry up and get going, don't lose them this time," Chen Feng called out, and continued driving forward.
This time there were no major problems, and we arrived at our destination quickly.
"This is it. You guys can shop here. I'll go check out the payment booth and see what's going on," Chen Feng instructed.
"Okay, okay, call us if anything comes up." Everyone got out of the car and gave Chen Feng these instructions.
After exchanging a few words, Chen Feng drove towards the toll collection point.
By the time we arrived at the mining site, it was already around seven o'clock, and the sky was half dark.
Looking at the navigation, this should be the right place.
In front of us was a large courtyard that could park more than twenty cars, and at the very front was a three-story building.
The building is not small, and there are only about seven or eight cars in the yard.
Chen Feng parked the car in the parking space, then got out and went inside.
"Hello, is this Zhangjia Mine?" Chen Feng asked as he pushed open the door.
"Oh, yes, you're here to pan for gold?" an old man came out and greeted him with a smile.
The old man was slightly overweight with gray hair, and looked to be at least seventy years old.
He was in good spirits, unlike those old men who are hunched over.
"Yes, I heard from others that there was a gold mining spot here, so I thought I'd come and take a look," Chen Feng said with a smile.
"Alright, alright, come inside, child." The old man reached out and beckoned Chen Feng into the house.
"Have you eaten yet?" the old man asked, turning around.
"Not yet," Chen Feng answered truthfully.
"I just finished making this. Come and have a bite. Since this is your first time here, we can talk about anything you don't understand while we eat." The old man asked Chen Feng to sit at the table while he went to get the food for him.
Chen Feng turned around and saw the old man holding a plate, serving food to Chen Feng from the thermos.
There are four of these insulated containers in total.
The old man played three rounds in a row. Seeing that he couldn't carry that many at once, Chen Feng got up to help him carry them.
"Thank you," the old man said with a smile.
"It's alright, it's alright," Chen Feng said politely, as the two of them carried three trays to the dining table.
The area here is really big. As soon as you enter, there is a large hall. Just from what Chen Feng could see, there are several rooms, like a villa.
No, this place is no different from a villa, it's even bigger than a villa.
The decor doesn't resemble a villa; it's more like a place to entertain guests.
Perhaps this place was built for business purposes, otherwise it wouldn't have been built so big.
The old man told Chen Feng to eat first, then went upstairs himself, and soon brought down an elderly woman with difficulty walking.
Although the old lady didn't look well, her clothes and hair were clean, her short, gray hair was combed back, and there was a piece of white cloth left over from the IV drip in her hand.
"Have a bite, and when it's not so hot later, I'll take you for a walk. The doctor said you need to move around more," the old man said to the old woman.
"Okay, but I don't feel hungry and can't eat much. Who is this child?" The old lady looked at Chen Feng.
"Hello, I'm here to pan for gold, I'm a gold prospector," Chen Feng said with a smile, holding his chopsticks.
"Oh, is that so? You old man, why did you only give the child so little food? Children this age should be eating a lot."
"Go and make some more money for him," the old lady said before the old man even picked up his chopsticks.
Chen Feng looked at his overflowing plate and felt a mix of amusement and exasperation. He quickly said, "Auntie, no need, I can't eat any more. It's too much, and it would be a waste to fill it up."
"It's alright, child, eat more. Gold panning is tiring. If you're still hungry, go pan again. Don't be shy. Make yourself at home here," the old lady said to Chen Feng, her hands trembling slightly as she picked up her chopsticks.
"Okay, thank you, Auntie, I understand." Chen Feng nodded repeatedly.
The old man, watching the old woman from the side, also chuckled, gently shook his head, and picked up his chopsticks.
"Uncle, I've never been to a paid mining site before. How do you charge fees?" Chen Feng asked while eating.
"That's right, it's 500 a day, which is 24 hours a day. You can shop around as much as you want, and you can take whatever you find with you. It has nothing to do with me."
"But I suggest you don't go fishing after dark, it's too dangerous," the old man explained.
"Then we have lunch and dinner here, fifteen yuan a meal, four dishes and a soup, two meat and two vegetable dishes."
"You can come back to stay at night; a room costs twenty yuan."
"Of course, child, don't misunderstand, I'm not asking you for money for this meal, and you don't need to feel embarrassed."
"It's not easy to make money outside, so think it over yourself and don't feel pressured."
The old man was afraid that Chen Feng would misunderstand and think that he was forcing him to buy something, so he quickly explained.
"It's alright, it's alright, I can't misunderstand," Chen Feng said with a laugh.
"Eat more, child. If you're still hungry, get more. It's all you can eat," the old man instructed Chen Feng.
"Hey, thank you, uncle." Chen Feng nodded.
"Can you chew this meat? If not, I'll get you some potatoes," the old man asked his wife, turning around.
"It's alright, it's stewed until very soft, no need to serve it any more." The old lady shook her head.
Chen Feng ate the whole plate of food with all his might, mainly because he felt embarrassed to leave any.
"Uncle, I'll book a room in a bit. I'll shop around here tomorrow. Shall I pay you now?" Chen Feng asked, putting down his chopsticks.
"No rush, you should rest well first. It will be fine to give it to you tomorrow morning." The old man put down his chopsticks, stood up, and was about to find a room for Chen Feng.
"Uncle, I'm not in a hurry. Take your time eating, we'll talk after you finish," Chen Feng said, stopping the uncle.
"It's alright, it's alright. Finding a room will be quick. You should get some rest so you can work well tomorrow. I can eat whenever I want." The uncle insisted on standing up, then led Chen Feng to a room and unlocked the door with his key.
The room was a very simple hotel room, with nothing special about it, and it even had a private bathroom, which surprised Chen Feng.
There's no air conditioning; there's only an electric fan in the room.
"Is this alright? If you don't like it, I'll find you another one," the uncle asked.
"Okay, this is fine, no need to change it. Uncle, go eat your meal." Chen Feng shook his head and said.
“Hey, if there’s anything missing in the house, just come out and tell me, and I’ll find it for you. It’s no problem.”
"Okay, I understand, Uncle," Chen Feng said with a smile.
After settling Chen Feng in, the uncle smiled and went back to continue eating. Chen Feng took the keys, went out, returned to his car, and retrieved some things.
As he closed the car door with his bag on his back, he saw a pickup truck drive in and a middle-aged man get out.
He looked Chen Feng up and down while carrying his things. Seeing that he was a new gold prospector, he smiled kindly at Chen Feng and nodded.
Chen Feng didn't recognize him, but he felt that he looked a bit like the uncle, so he smiled in response.
