"That's good, Feng-ge, keep it." Li Chunlai tossed the gold to Chen Feng.
Chen Feng caught it and put it in his pocket, and the group sat at the bottom of the pit.
"Take a break, come on, have a cigarette. To be honest, it's quite sheltered from the wind down here, though it's a bit chilly on your butt." Li Chunlai handed one to each of them.
"At least you can light a cigarette. If this were up there, you wouldn't even be able to smoke, you'd just get a cold sweat," Huang Fei said, taking a drag.
"Has Brother Feng chosen his next spot yet?" Lin Nian asked.
"No, let's talk about it later. Take your time looking, no rush." Chen Feng glanced at his phone; it was only ten o'clock.
The group chatted for a while before climbing out to dig the next hole.
As soon as they stepped outside, a strong wind blew them in the face, making them squint.
"I want to go back," Huang Fei said, covering his face with his arm.
“Then you should go back. You can just stay in the pit tonight,” Li Chunlai said, braving the wind.
"What, are you going to bury me too?" Huang Fei asked.
"Let's get back in the car, it's too windy." Lin Nian said, running straight back to the car.
The three of them ran into the car, leaving Chen Feng alone outside in the strong wind.
"I suddenly feel like having a system isn't such a good thing after all." Chen Feng spat out a mouthful of sand that had gotten into his mouth and walked forward.
The three people in the car simply stood there, enjoying the warm air, watching Chen Feng walk forward with his head down.
"Tsk tsk tsk, don't you think we're doing well here? Let our boss suffer out there while we're enjoying the warm breeze here," Li Chunlai said with emotion.
"There's nothing I can do about it. I'm really heartbroken, but I can't help him share the burden." Although Huang Fei said this, there was no trace of heartache on his face.
"Indeed, it hurts terribly, it hurts so much," Lin Nian chuckled, rubbing his hands together.
Chen Feng walked about two hundred meters before finally settling on a place that looked pretty good.
"This is fine, no matter how big it is, it's still meat." Chen Feng said, turning around and waving vigorously, signaling that they could come over.
"What's Fengzi doing? It looks like he's waving to me."
Huang Fei, sitting in the driver's seat, leaned out and asked.
"Really? It doesn't look like it. Is it freezing and moving around there?" Li Chunlai couldn't see clearly either, so he couldn't help but guess.
"Yes, it's an activity. Look, he's moving his arms back and forth. It's exactly the same as the calisthenics we did in school," Lin Nian said with absolute certainty.
"Fengzi, you're really bold. You're doing the exercises despite all the wind and howling. You should go back and practice some more." Huang Fei said, laughing out loud.
Meanwhile, Chen Feng, standing some distance away, waved his arms and made hand gestures for the aircraft carrier to take off, but the Prado opposite him remained unmoved. In the end, Chen Feng's arms ached from waving.
"What the hell are these bastards doing?"
Chen Feng angrily took out his phone and made a call.
"Are you fucking having babies in the car? Come here!" Chen Feng shouted into his phone.
"Damn, you weren't doing calisthenics to warm up, we thought you were doing exercises." Huang Fei immediately shifted gears and drove forward, looking embarrassed.
"I'm doing chicken feather exercises in this strong wind, are you guys out of your minds?!" Chen Feng was so angry that his nose almost crooked.
Doing radio calisthenics in strong winds—is that even a human thought process?
"Right away, right away."
Huang Fei hung up the phone after he finished speaking.
"Damn it, I told you he was calling us. Who said he was doing exercises? It's all your fault," Huang Fei complained.
“Exactly, they’re obviously calling us over, Chunlai, but you keep saying he’s doing exercises.” Lin Nian chimed in.
"Um?"
Li Chunlai was completely bewildered. It didn't seem to be true. He had said he was doing exercises, but that was what you said. And now you're blaming me.
When Chen Jianguo saw them approaching, he understood what was going on without even being called. They had found another location, so he drove his excavator over there.
Chen Feng picked up a twig and drew a circle on the ground.
"That's it." Chen Feng gestured to Chen Jianguo, and his father nodded to indicate that he understood.
Chen Feng got into the vehicle when the excavator started working.
The moment they got into the car, the three people inside stared straight ahead, as if nothing had happened and they hadn't seen Chen Feng.
"Playing dead, huh? Who said I was doing exercises? Tell me!"
Chen Feng didn't tolerate them and gave each of them a whack on the head. All three of them covered their heads and tried to stifle their laughter.
"There's nothing I can do, the movements are too similar, and the distance is a bit far, so I can't see clearly," Huang Fei explained.
"Heh." Chen Feng looked at him with annoyance.
"Come on, have a smoke to warm yourself up," Lin Nian said, quickly lighting a cigarette for Chen Feng.
This time, the pit didn't have granite, so Chen Jianguo was able to dig it quite well and quickly dug it to a considerable depth, expanding the area around it twice.
Once he felt it was about time, Chen Jianguo went back and called Chen Feng.
"Is this depth okay? Should we continue digging?"
"No need, I'll go down and take a look later." Chen Feng hung up the phone after saying that, and Huang Fei and the others followed him down.
He had barely stood at the edge of the pit when Huang Fei and his two companions jumped in with their tools.
"Without stones, this is much more convenient," Huang Fei said, stomping his feet a few times.
"Damn, what else is there to say? It's a piece of cake, just dig it up." Li Chunlai said, picking up his shovel and getting to work.
"You should have said so earlier. I brought the impact drill for nothing." Lin Nian put the impact drill aside and prepared to switch to a shovel.
Just as the three people below were digging enthusiastically, Chen Feng frowned slightly and looked at the small mound of soil that his father had dug out.
He ignored the three of them, grabbed a small shovel, squatted down at the mound, and started digging, deliberately scooping towards the center.
The mound was a bit damp, so Chen Feng scooped it up several times, but it didn't collapse. Once Chen Feng felt it was ready, he threw the shovel aside and reached in to feel around.
After feeling around for a few moments, Chen Feng pulled out the piece of gold.
"call."
Chen Feng smiled slightly, blew on the piece of gold covered in dirt, and then wiped it with his hand.
This piece of gold wasn't as big as the previous one. He held it and weighed it in his hand, estimating it to be worth around seventy or eighty thousand.
He took the gold and walked to the edge of the pit, only to find three people still foolishly digging at the bottom.
"Hey, what are you three digging for?" Chen Feng asked, amused.
"Gold, of course. What else could we be digging for?" Huang Fei looked up and said matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, this soil is so much easier to dig, much faster. We have to chisel the granite." Li Chunlai scooped up a big shovelful of soil, feeling great.
"No, why didn't you first find out where the gold was before you started digging? You just started digging like that?" Chen Feng simply couldn't understand their thinking.
Upon hearing this, the three people exchanged glances.
