Chapter 262 Buying a Mining Site

With a "ding," Chen Feng dug another hole in the large rock, and the small stone in the middle trembled.

Chen Feng sighed helplessly. It seemed like other people were so good at planing. Even those workers could hit the nails perfectly with a soft hammer.

To think that it could still go astray when I was so close is truly astounding.

He swung the pickaxe again, this time striking a small stone, which shattered into pieces and scattered all over the ground.

He looked around and picked up the small stone with gold on it.

I guess that's about the size I can smash it up to; it'll be too difficult to smash it any further.

Chen Feng tossed the gold-plated stone into his bag, packed up his tools, and continued on his way.

This entry was personally verified by Chen Feng, proving that it was indeed utterly useless.

It's nothing more than being able to sense what's inside the stone in advance, but what good is that?

Even if you don't know, you can't just throw it away, you'll still break it open anyway.

Just thinking about it makes his heart ache for his 200,000 points.

He took out a bottle of mineral water from his bag and drank half of it in one go. He felt a little hungry, so he took out a small bread roll from his bag to fill his stomach.

He had just taken the bread out when he thought about it for a moment and then put it back.

It's already past 10 o'clock, and we'll be having dinner in two hours.

He originally intended to cook for himself at the mine to save time.

But when I calculated it, even if I drove back, it would only take about twenty minutes. What could I possibly do in twenty minutes to cook? The rice probably wouldn't even be cooked by then.

If you have the time, wouldn't it be better to just drive back and eat something ready-made?

No canned food can compare to the aroma of four dishes and a soup.

Carrying his tools, Chen Feng continued walking forward. The thought of being able to eat soon gave him motivation to keep going.

Although I forgot to ask yesterday what time lunch would be ready, I figured it would be ready by around 12:00.

After walking for seven or eight minutes, the system gave a notification that there was precious metal in the vicinity.

After sensing the situation for a moment, Chen Feng took a few steps back, picked up his shovel, and started digging.

There weren't many gravel stones here, just a sparse layer. Chen Feng didn't need to clean them up; he just carried the gravel stones away while digging.

After digging about half a meter deep, Chen Feng wiped the sweat from his face, knelt on the ground, and began to shovel soil with a small shovel.

Before long, Chen Feng's detector went off. He lightly shook the shovel and began searching inside.

He had only been fiddling with it a couple of times when he bumped into something quite large. He reached out and picked it up, only to find it was a large silver ingot.

The silver ingot is estimated to be worth two or three hundred, which is quite a lot.

Chen Feng wiped it with his hand and put it into a small bottle.

After searching in the mine for another hour, around 11:40, Chen Feng turned back, found his car, and drove towards Old Zhang's house.

Chen Feng had intended to shop until midnight, but he was so hungry he couldn't stand it anymore; a little bread for breakfast wasn't enough to fill him up.

We soon arrived at Old Zhang's house, parked the car, and went inside. We saw the uncle standing in front of a thermos, serving food to someone.

Several more tables were set up inside, enough for about five or six people to eat.

Judging from the number of cars parked outside, there should be more than just these people today.

Some people have probably finished eating and left, while others haven't returned yet.

"Hey, you're back." The uncle smiled at Chen Feng.

"Yeah, I'm hungry today. I was thinking of browsing around for a while longer, but I'll eat first. I can't hold on any longer." Chen Feng picked up the plate next to him and held it out to the thermos.

"Tell me what dishes you'd like to eat, and I'll get you extra." The uncle said with a smile.

"I'm fine with anything, I'm easy to feed, and I'm not picky about food," Chen Feng joked, and the two of them laughed at the same time.

The uncle knew he was hungry, so he served him a plate of food.

"Okay, thank you, uncle." Chen Feng carried the tray to the nearest table.

Neither of the Zhang brothers were in the hall. Chen Feng looked at the slight sweat on the uncle's head and even wondered if the uncle had cooked the dish all by himself.

The middle-aged man was probably hungry too. Seeing that there weren't many people around, he picked up a plate, filled it with some food, and looked around, probably trying to find a seat.

"Come on, uncle, sit here, there's a seat here." Chen Feng waved to the uncle and pointed to the seat opposite him.

"Okay, let's eat together then." The uncle cheerfully brought over his tray and sat down opposite Chen Feng.

"How's my cooking? Not bad, right?" the uncle asked, picking up a mouthful of rice.

"Great, fantastic! This dish is really good. Uncle, you're wasting your life if you weren't a chef." Chen Feng praised sincerely while eating a piece of meat.

"Hehe, I learned to be a chef when I was young, but I quit halfway through because I thought the pay wasn't enough."

"Later I switched careers and started gold panning, and I've been doing that for so many years." The uncle sighed.

Perhaps when he was young, he never imagined that he would embark on the path of gold mining.

"Uncle, how old are you this year?" Chen Feng asked curiously.

"Me? Look at how old I am. I'm seventy-eight this year."

“Even my wife is seventy-seven this year.”

The middle-aged man unscrewed his teacup, took a sip, and said with a smile.

"Seventy-eight? That doesn't seem like it. I think you're only around sixty." Chen Feng was slightly surprised.

Apart from his slightly gray hair, the man doesn't look like someone nearing eighty.

"Haha, maybe carefree people don't look old." The uncle chuckled self-deprecatingly, picking at the rice on his plate.

"How was the harvest this morning? Did you make back your investment?" the uncle asked casually.

"I've made back most of it, not bad, pretty good." Chen Feng picked up a piece of spicy tofu.

The mapo tofu contains minced meat, but it's counted as a vegetarian dish.

This dish really tastes great, comparable to most restaurants. It seems the uncle was just being modest when he said he was only half a chef.

"Making a large profit is a good start. If you're lucky this afternoon, you can make a lot more. Although I've been running mining sites for so many years, I don't want to see you lose money."

"It's not easy for anyone to come out here to pan for gold; it's all for a living," the uncle said sincerely.

“Indeed, uncle, how many years have you been running this mine?” Chen Feng asked.

"It's been more than ten years. I was lucky back then. I just happened to come across this mining site and had some spare money, so I bought it."

"I never thought I'd be doing this for so many years." The middle-aged man pursed his lips and shook his head slightly.

"That's good too. It's settled down, saving us from running around all the time without a fixed schedule," Chen Feng said, taking a big bite of braised eggplant.

"It's alright, but if you're not familiar with it, don't just impulsively think about buying a mining site."

"This industry is very complex. You need to know what the mine was like before, how far it has been mined, and whether there is still any profit in it."

"You still need to conduct on-site investigations and analyze the situation yourself."

"If you're really interested and trust me, I'll find some time to explain the ins and outs of this to you."

When the uncle heard Chen Feng's words, he thought that Chen Feng was also interested in buying a mining site, so he quickly gave him some advice.
