Chapter 92 Completely Lost

Unfortunately, no matter how many times I dialed, it was useless.

On the other side, Yin Xing, far away from the van, hurried back with an extremely solemn expression.

Twenty minutes earlier, he was still exploring the goods on the ground, and the cooler weather made him feel very comfortable.

As he peered around, he suddenly realized something was wrong. He looked up abruptly and discovered that it had gotten so dark!

He immediately took out his phone to check the time and was instantly terrified.

He hadn't realized how late it was, completely absorbed in his treasure hunt.

A strong sense of crisis gripped his heart. He disregarded everything else, grabbed the detector, and started walking back, quickening his pace several times over.

He walked while looking at his phone, and the complete lack of signal startled him.

He could only pray that it would get dark slowly; if it got completely dark, he would definitely lose his bearings, and then everything would be over.

Spending the night in a place like this, who knows what might happen?

Once you reach a place with a signal, even if it's a low one, it's okay; you'll be able to find your way back.

However, his pace couldn't keep up with the speed at which it got dark. Twenty minutes later, it was completely dark, and Yin Xing was completely at a loss.

Unfortunately, the moonlight was quite sparse tonight, and he could only vaguely see ahead. Yin Xing took out his phone's flashlight to illuminate the way he had come from, and tried his best to walk back.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down; the more panicked he was at this moment, the worse it would be.

After walking for another twenty minutes, when he saw the tree that had appeared a few minutes earlier reappear in front of him, he stood there dumbfounded.

"It's over." Yin Xing swallowed hard, his eyes showing a hint of panic.

He had completely lost his way back.

After carefully looking around for a long time, he stared in one direction, tried hard to recall the memories of the day, and finally gritted his teeth and walked in that direction.

He didn't want to wait to die in the same place; he had to try to move forward.

After walking for about ten minutes, he arrived at a completely unfamiliar place.

He was certain that he had never been to this place during the day.

He looked around in a state of near collapse, too afraid to move.

He was afraid that if he went too far, he would really not be able to find his way back.

He didn't know if it was because of the cold weather or because his heart was cold, but he felt a chill.

I looked around in a panic, but I couldn't tell which way was which. My phone still had no signal. The only consolation was that it still had more than 60% battery left.

He sat down and lit a cigarette to try and calm himself down, but the more he smoked, the more he regretted it. How could he have been so blinded by that piece of gold?

I even forgot to check the time.

If he were given another chance, he definitely wouldn't continue exploring; he would just go back.

A cool breeze blew by, and goosebumps involuntarily rose on his body. He rubbed them vigorously.

He had enough water and food with him to last a day, but the weather was getting colder and colder. He was wearing short sleeves and shorts. Could he really stay in this place for one night?

He had seen the news and learned about a condition called hypothermia, which means that people can freeze to death outside even when the weather isn't very cold.

He felt he was already experiencing those signs.

He didn't want to die, but he stood there, too afraid to move.

He was on the verge of a breakdown; he never imagined that a tiny piece of gold could take his life.

If he had known it would turn out like this, he would rather not have it at all.

Yin Xing paced back and forth, trying his best to find an opportunity to see if there was any familiar spot he remembered.

It also serves to move the body and increase body temperature.

The more he looked, the colder he felt; he already had a premonition of his fate.

There wasn't a single place he recognized around here. What was he going to do now? Did he really have to spend the night here?

He genuinely felt that if he stayed there overnight, he would freeze to death.

After looking back and forth for an unknown amount of time, he finally felt a sense of despair, sighed deeply, and sat down on the ground, at a loss.

His body felt colder and colder, so cold that he hugged his shoulders, goosebumps kept appearing, and he couldn't rub them off at all.

He buried his head between his legs to keep it a little warm.

Then he raised his head again, searching for that faint hope.

Taking out the last half pack of cigarettes, Yin Xing lit one after another. He wasn't addicted; it was just to keep himself warm.

He had considered starting a fire, but he didn't even have an axe. With just a shovel, he couldn't chop down much wood to start a fire.

He finally finished half a pack of cigarettes, lit the pack, and heated his hand over it.

The flame, like a glimmer of hope, vanished in an instant before Yin Xing could even react.

He sighed deeply, thinking desperately, "Am I really going to die here today?"

If there were a fire in front of him right now, that would be such a luxury.

He gave a wry smile, shook his head, and curled up on the ground, hugging his legs.

My mind wandered, thinking about all sorts of things, even wondering if I should use my phone to record my funeral arrangements.

That way, when they find me, I can at least give my family an explanation.

Just as he was looking ahead unintentionally, he suddenly saw a very faint light.

And the light seemed to be flashing.

Yin Xing even wondered if he was really about to freeze to death and was hallucinating.

Isn't that just like the little girl selling lighters?

But when he looked at the light more closely, he realized that it seemed to be moving, not an illusion.

In an instant, something occurred to him!

Yin Xing grabbed the detector and ran forward, not even caring that he was scratched by the bushes because he was running too fast.

He ran while shouting, "I'm here! I'm here!"

But the light was really far away, and no matter how much he shouted, no one responded.

The light disappeared after a few minutes, and Yin Xing was so anxious that he almost lost his voice from shouting.

"Don't go, I'm here, I'm here!"

Yin Xing was so anxious he was about to cry. Who could understand the feeling of seeing hope only to watch it slip away?

There is nothing more desperate than this.

As Yin Xing watched the light vanish like the flames from before, his mood plummeted from heaven to hell.

He stood there helplessly screaming, but there was no response from anyone around him.

Yin Xing stood there blankly, countless thoughts rushing through his mind.

Ten seconds later, he gritted his teeth and ran headlong towards the spot where the light had been, even though it had disappeared.

Because it was too dark, Yin Xing even fell halfway through, and his leg was burning with pain.

But at this moment, he couldn't care less about the burning sensation; if he didn't rush to seize that sliver of hope, he would soon be ice-cold.

He ran for a long time, but still couldn't see that glimmer of hope.
