"Damn, what does this mean? We're just going to move rocks and throw them down like this?" Huang Fei grinned.
"Almost. First, throw them down as far as you can. Once you've thrown enough, throw them into the metal frame, then use a crane to lower them down, and then you can pour them into the water." Chen Feng outlined his general plan.
"This job is really something. A few days ago we had to dredge it out, and these past few days we've had to fill it in. If only we had just dredged it out and thrown it here back then." Huang Fei took the gloves that Chen Jianguo handed him.
"You wish!" Chen Feng picked up a rock and threw it into the water with a splash.
"This location is fine, isn't it?" Lin Nian asked, holding the stone.
"Yes, just don't make it too far to the side." Chen Feng turned around and continued carrying the stone.
"This river is five or six meters deep, how many stones do we need to throw in? Are these enough?" Li Chunlai asked hesitantly.
"You really want to intercept it? You don't need to fill it so deep. Just fill it a little, and the current underwater won't be so strong."
"And there are plenty of stones, it's just a matter of whether you can move them." Chen Feng threw two stones into the river.
This location was the result of his selection after standing on the shore. There was very little gold here, almost none. Even if it was buried by stones, it didn't matter. He wouldn't feel bad about jumping over it.
After all, once so many stones are piled up underneath, it's impossible to move them again.
"I used to love throwing stones into the river when I was a kid, and today I can finally have my fill." Lin Nian threw the stone he was holding into the river with a "plop".
"Hilarious, there's no way I can throw them all over here." Huang Fei was carrying a pile of pebbles and threw them all into the river on the bank.
After throwing all the stones from the shore into the water, they had to go further away to collect stones, and then carry them back to throw them in again.
"Phew, I'm a bit tired, Feng. Let's just use the crane. Moving things like this won't get us done in a while," Li Chunlai said, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"Okay, get the rim ready, then throw it down." Chen Feng nodded.
The group started using the crane to drop stones down. Li Chunlai and Lin Nian had already dressed and dived into the water to catch them.
And so they worked for a whole day. Although the surface of the water still looked very turbulent, the bottom was much better, at least the two of them wouldn't get soaked.
Lin Nian touched the pile of stones behind him that resembled a city wall and said, "Brother Feng, that's enough, no need to throw anymore."
“Okay, let’s do it then,” Chen Feng said, sitting on the ground by the shore.
It's worth mentioning that they've also piled up the original stones from the riverbed to one side, so they don't have to go through the process twice, and it's much more convenient to siphon them in.
"This is really satisfying to suck; I can suck up the whole riverbed without stopping," Lin Nian said while sucking.
“Of course, I’ll sit down and rest for a while. If you get tired, I’ll take over,” Li Chunlai said, sitting directly on the bottom of the river.
"OK."
Lin Nian inhaled for over an hour before handing the vacuum tube to Li Chunlai.
"Here you go, take a drag."
Normally, Lin Nian could have finished inhaling the whole thing without any problem, but after moving so many stones for so long today, he was exhausted.
As for the shift change, Huang Fei was already exhausted on the shore, his tongue lolling out. Moving stones on the shore was much heavier than in the water.
They worked like this until dark before they finally finished sucking up the area.
"Is that all? If not, let's go back. I'm so hungry," Lin Nian asked.
"Almost there, just a little bit left." Li Chunlai took a deep breath along the pile of stones, then floated up while holding the vacuum tube.
Once ashore, the two men took off their helmets and clothes and sat down on the bank to catch their breath.
"Huff, huff."
"I can smell firewood," Li Chunlai said, taking a deep breath and exclaiming with delight.
"I made this stew in an iron pot today, and I specially chopped the firewood. This stuff only tastes good when stewed over a wood fire," Chen Feng said, puffing on his cigarette.
"This is fantastic! This is exactly what I need to satisfy my cravings," Li Chunlai exclaimed.
Who would have thought that in such a desolate place, they could actually enjoy a steaming pot of stew? What could be more comforting to the soul than this?
Well… of course there is, and that is gold.
Huang Fei took over Li Chunlai's shift today. He carried a bucket to the gold panning ship, collected all the gold dust, and then started sifting the gold in front of everyone when he returned.
"Look at my technique, tsk tsk tsk, it's perfect." Huang Fei shook his head and sighed narcissistically.
"This is anything but perfect! Everyone searches like this. Hey, slow down! Two of those gold grains are already at the edge!" Li Chunlai was getting anxious.
"Don't panic, watch me do it."
Huang Fei shook the glass for a moment, and surprisingly, he actually managed to stabilize the few gold grains on the edge. In the end, all the gold sand was sifted out, and not a single grain was spilled.
"Look, look, from now on please call me the Gold Screening Master, thank you," Huang Fei said proudly.
"Hiss~"
The three of them said in unison, "It's simply unbearable to watch."
"Let me see how heavy it really is." Huang Fei used paper to absorb the moisture and then put it on the electronic scale.
"Um... how did you get rid of it again?" Huang Fei asked, a little confused, holding his phone.
"Give it to me, little brother." Li Chunlai took it and started massaging it.
"After accounting for losses, the total is over 278,000, which is quite good," Li Chunlai said, looking at everyone.
After all, there was no large pit at the bottom of the river today, nor any hidden cargo. To be able to suck up more than 270,000 tons just by dry suction is already quite impressive.
"That's great, really. I'd be satisfied if I could earn this much every day," Huang Fei nodded.
After all, they weren't Lin Nian; it was their first time hanging out with Chen Feng.
Lin Nian was already used to such a big harvest, but the two of them couldn't. To put it bluntly, even if it was only 100,000 a day, let alone 200,000, it would be enough to make them content.
"That's enough, that's enough. I'm already starting to think about what car to get," Li Chunlai chuckled.
"Me too, hehe." Huang Fei, unusually, didn't argue with him and nodded in agreement.
After resting for a while, the group went back together to prepare for dinner. When the lid of the steaming iron pot stew was lifted, steam flowed down the lid, making Chen Feng and the others' mouths water. It smelled so good that they almost died of hunger.
"Quick, quick, try this goose and see if it's delicious. I specifically asked for it." Huang Fei picked up a piece with his chopsticks and took a big bite.
"What, you can even pick geese? They all look the same to me after they've been plucked," Li Chunlai asked curiously.
"Choosing a goose is easy, just pick the one you don't like. This goose was practically asking for trouble, it even pecked at me, and it kept chasing after me to peck."
"Then I can't just let it get away with this. I'll just buy it and stew it, and see who's better, you or me," Huang Fei said, feeling quite relieved.
"What is this? It's still alive! Where did you buy it?" Lin Nian asked in surprise.
"On our way back, there's a small village. I was thinking of going there to see if I could buy a live chicken."
