Chen Feng didn't do anything else; he just sat there watching, occasionally taking a sip of water or smoking a cigarette.
I'll go home for lunch and then come back. Then I'll go to Lu Dahai's house to buy an ice pop, and I'll throw the ice pop wrapper at his doorstep.
At five o'clock in the evening, Chen Feng stretched, picked up a chair, said goodbye to Li Dazhuang and the others, and went back to his home.
After Sun Liang discovered the tomb, he felt a great weight lifted off his shoulders and let out a long sigh of relief.
"He's gone, Mom. I guess he's gone home for dinner. Do you think he'll come back tonight?" Sun Liang said worriedly.
"How would I know? Don't sleep too soundly at night. Lock the front door and get up to check on the vegetable garden often," Sun Ling said, genuinely worried that Chen Feng might cause her trouble.
“Okay.” Sun Liang nodded.
At night, Sun Liang couldn't sleep soundly at all, constantly wondering if Chen Feng would sneak over and use military tactics to mess with them.
He really does get up every now and then, take a stroll in the yard, and then go to the vegetable garden to check if there's anything unusual about the vegetables.
After finding nothing unusual, he went back to sleep.
Sun Ling couldn't sleep well either, her mind constantly preoccupied with Chen Feng's threat.
"How's it going? Is everything alright in the fields?" Sun Ling asked as she walked out of the house when she heard Sun Liang return.
"It seems fine for now, let's go to sleep," Sun Liang said.
This situation continued until three or four in the morning, until Sun Liang couldn't take it anymore and finally fell asleep.
Sun Ling was also half asleep, feeling like someone had entered her yard. She would sit up every now and then and peek out the window.
Meanwhile, Chen Feng was lying in bed, fast asleep, with a movie playing on his phone beside him, showing no intention of going anywhere.
The next morning, after having breakfast, Chen Feng carried a chair, along with cigarettes and tea, to Sun Ling's doorstep. He lay down on the chair and continued reading military strategy.
"Mom, Mom, he's here again! What are we going to do?!" Sun Liang immediately reported to Sun Ling upon seeing the situation.
Sun Ling sat on the stool, feeling drowsy. After all, she was getting old, and it was no wonder she was drowsy after a bad night's sleep.
"He's here again? What the hell does he want?!" Sun Ling was furious. "Are you never going to stop?"
"Why don't we just tell him to give us a quick answer? What does he want anyway?" Sun Liang said, somewhat exasperated.
"Never mind him, you watch over him. I'm going to sleep now, I'm so sleepy." Sun Ling yawned, unable to stay awake any longer, and went back to her room to take a nap.
Sun Liang, holding his phone, sat in a spot where he could just see Chen Feng, absentmindedly scrolling through his phone.
It was past ten o'clock when Sun Ling finally got up. The first thing she did was to go out and see if Chen Feng was still there.
Upon seeing that Chen Feng was still there, she finally couldn't sit still any longer and stormed out.
"Hey, Mom, what are you doing?" Sun Liang saw this and chased after her.
"What the hell are you trying to do? What the hell are you trying to do?!"
"Why aren't you reading at home? What are you reading here, you little brat? Get out of here and read somewhere else!" Sun Ling pointed at Chen Feng and cursed.
Seeing this, Chen Feng closed the book, took off his straw hat, stood up, and, equally impolite, pointed at Sun Ling and cursed, "Go to hell! I can read wherever I want, what's it to you? Who do you think you are?"
"Is this your home? This main road your home? How can you be so shameless?"
"I'm watching right here, fuck you."
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing again, Sun Liang quickly dragged his mother into the house, pleading with her, "At this critical moment, please don't provoke Chen Feng, I beg you."
"Why are you pulling me? I'll give him a piece of my mind today!" Sun Ling said, still somewhat unconvinced.
"He just finished reading about military strategy, so don't mess with him!"
"I told you that land shouldn't have been taken, but you insisted on taking it anyway. Now look what happened, he's got his eye on it!"
"Of all people to mess with, you had to pick on Chen Feng. What kind of good person is he? Do you think you can afford to offend him?"
"I won't listen, I won't listen. Do you think your tantrums and shamelessness will work on him?"
"Tell me what to do now. If they really want to mess with you, you won't be able to do anything. They can make you disappear without a trace."
"Just give him the land already, it originally belonged to him anyway," Sun Liang complained irritably.
"Give me a damn thing. Now tell me what to do. He kicked my brand new fence and bent it. Make him pay me back for the fence, and I'll give the land back to him."
Sun Ling snorted loudly, somewhat afraid that Chen Feng would master the techniques in a few days and then use them to deal with her.
These country folk don't know anything about military strategy, how are they supposed to deal with him?
"Go ask him yourself and see if he'll give it to you or not," Sun Liang said, rolling his eyes.
“If he won’t give it to me, I won’t give him the land either. Let’s see who can outlast whom,” Sun Ling said defiantly.
Sun Liang didn't want to talk to her at all and went back to his room to lie down. "If you're so capable, why don't you go and do it with Chen Feng?"
At five o'clock in the evening, Chen Feng put away the phone on his stomach, closed the military manual he had been using to cover it, and slowly went home with his things.
Recalling what happened that morning, Chen Feng couldn't help but smile under his straw hat.
Sun Ling couldn't sit still any longer, haha.
I reckon it won't be long before they obediently hand over the land, not daring to utter a single word.
Subduing the enemy without fighting is the best strategy.
Of course, Chen Feng also made two preparations and has been planning some schemes in the past two days.
If Sun Ling is really so stubborn and intimidating that she can't be scared, then Chen Feng shouldn't blame him for being really ruthless.
The news that Chen Feng is studying military strategy to deal with Sun Ling's family has spread throughout the village, and everyone is waiting to see what happens to Sun Ling's family.
They had already experienced Chen Feng's prowess firsthand; it remained to be seen whether Sun Ling could withstand him.
As night fell, Chen Feng slept soundly with the small fan blowing on him, but while he could sleep, some people couldn't.
1 a.m.
"So, he didn't come, did he?" Sun Ling asked Sun Liang with droopy eyelids.
"It seems they didn't come. The chicken in the chicken coop didn't crow. I went to check, and there weren't many corn kernels left in there," Sun Liang said, turning off his flashlight and yawning.
"What about the vegetable garden? Has it been sprayed with pesticides?" Sun Ling pressed.
"How would I know? It's pitch black at night, I can't see anything anyway," Sun Liang said impatiently, preparing to go back to his room to sleep.
"That thing smells so strong, can't you smell it?" Sun Ling was so angry she wanted to curse.
"Your nose is good, go smell it yourself." Sun Liang closed the door, yawned, and lay down on the bed to sleep.
When will this ever end?
Seeing that Sun Liang had given up, Sun Ling cursed a few times and could only go and see for herself in the middle of the night.
She set an alarm every two hours, but she couldn't sleep soundly at all; she would sit up before the alarm even went off.
She remained like this until dawn, when she finally felt a little relieved and was finally able to doze off.
On the third day at eight o'clock, Chen Feng arrived at Sun Ling's door and sat down right on time. This time, Sun Liang couldn't sit still any longer.
