Chapter 507 Gold Panning on the Shore

After cursing, Li Chunlai went back to hug the vacuum tube and continued walking forward.

The trash at the bottom of the river isn't just this plate; there's a lot more, like rotten branches, rotten grass roots, and sometimes even plastic bottles.

Li Chunlai would suck up anything he could, and for anything he couldn't, he would just brush it aside.

With another suck, he sucked in a thick twig, but because the twig was too long, it got stuck at the end of the tube.

"What a piece of junk." Li Chunlai reached out, pulled the branch out, threw it aside, and continued sucking down the tube.

On the shore, Huang Fei was ready to change shifts. Lin Nian was resting his chin on his hand, feeling bored, when he suddenly remembered what Brother Qi had said back then.

"Hey, Feng, didn't Qi say back then that there was gold not only in the river, but also on the riverbank?" Lin Nian asked.

“Yes, there’s gold on this shore too. What, do you want to pan for it?” Chen Feng asked Lin Nian.

“Yeah, we brought a detector too. We have nothing to do here, so we might as well collect whatever we can. We just don’t know how much there is down there,” Lin Nian said, looking around.

Chen Feng glanced around and thought it over. It seemed feasible. Although the amount of fish on the bank was definitely not as good as in the river, and it would be more troublesome to scoop them out, at least one person could work while four people watched. Every little bit counted.

Moreover, Chen Feng knows where there is a lot of gold, so he can just focus on mining there.

“Come on, let’s stretch our muscles. There’s a shovel in the prefab house, right?” Chen Feng stood up and asked.

"Yes, I'll go get them." Lin Nian said, jogging over and bringing back three shovels.

"Brother, how do we dig? Where do we dig?" Lin Nian asked with great interest.

"Or we could just dig it up from the riverbank."

“Hey, that won’t do. If you dig along the riverbank now, you’ll just be changing the river’s course. You need to widen the river. Let me do some research and find a suitable location.”

Chen Feng carried a shovel and paced back and forth along the riverbank, occasionally digging a couple of shovelfuls of soil and then rubbing it between his fingers.

It's all just for show; what he's really doing is looking for places with high gold content.

"Come on, this is it, just start digging." Chen Feng walked to a spot more than forty meters from the shore and gestured back to them.

Upon hearing this, several people grabbed shovels and ran over, standing beside Chen Feng.

"So, you're just digging like this? Don't you need to use a detector?" Huang Fei asked, holding a shovel.

"No need, just dig. The gold here is all gold dust. Didn't Brother Qi say to dig about two meters deep and see?" Chen Feng planted the shovel in the soil and stomped on it with his foot.

“Okay, let’s get started. Let’s dig it up and see what happens. But if this is all gold dust, will we have to use a plate to sift it out?” Chen Jianguo asked, remembering the question.

“Yes, dig first, then sift it to see if there’s anything left. If not, keep digging. Once you can sift it, you can keep sifting.” Chen Feng shoveled a spadeful of soil and tossed it aside as he spoke.

The three of them understood and it was time to dig. But when Chen Feng looked up at the three of them digging with all their might, he suddenly felt that something was wrong.

"Hmm..." Chen Feng touched his chin, something seemed off.

"Damn it, why did you all come over here? Chunlai is still underwater. Huang Fei, hurry up and go to the shore to keep an eye on things, lest we don't know when he pulls the rope!" Chen Feng urged.

"Damn, yeah, how come we're all here and forgot about him!" Huang Fei was startled when he was reminded and quickly dropped his shovel and ran to the shore.

He gently tugged on the rope and, finding no problems, relaxed and gave Chen Feng an OK sign.

"It's alright, it's alright, the money-sucking ship is still spraying water!"

Hearing that everything was alright, Chen Feng finally breathed a sigh of relief. It was truly fortunate that Li Chunlai didn't know; if he had, he would have been cursing him out.

Li Chunlai was still leisurely sucking in the water, completely unaware of what was happening on the shore.

Chen Feng forcefully scooped up a shovelful of soil and then tossed it aside. After digging, Lin Nian tentatively squatted down, grabbed a handful, and squeezed it.

"Brother Feng, isn't this depth enough? I don't think I can see anything." Lin Nian said, breaking up the soil.

"Not yet, it's still early. It needs to be at least two meters deep before we can start processing. Although there's a lot of gold dust, panning for it is much more difficult than panning for gold nuggets," Chen Feng said, continuing to shovel soil out.

Gold sand has to be panned out bit by bit, while gold nuggets can be picked up after the pit is dug.

Therefore, Chen Feng preferred to dig for gold nuggets, as they were easier to find.

Anyway, Lin Nian and the others have nothing to do, so once they find Jinsha, they can each carry a plate and wander around there slowly.

After all, gold is a very valuable thing; even a few grains can be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.

The three of them were very efficient at digging the hole. In no time, they had dug a hole. Chen Feng deliberately widened the hole to make sure they could get out later, since two or three meters was not shallow.

"Brother Feng, is this gold?" Lin Nian bent down and carefully picked up a clump of soil, squeezed it in his palm, and picked out a small yellow grain.

Chen Feng glanced at it and nodded: "It's gold, but it seems there's not much here. Let's dig a few more shovelfuls and then start processing."

"Okay." Lin Nian put the gold, the size of a grain of sand, into the small box, and then suddenly shoveled it out a few more times.

"Fengzi, alright, let's just keep panning slowly like this. Otherwise, it would be such a waste to dig up all the gold," Chen Jianguo said with some heartache.

Although he knew that the real prize was down there, the thought of gold being thrown away made his heart ache.

"Okay, I'll go get the bucket." Chen Feng threw the shovel on the ground, turned around, climbed out of the pit, went to get three sets of tools: a stool, a chair, and a bucket. He then filled them with water and brought them back.

"Come on, everyone get a set of tools, let's start shopping."

After Chen Feng finished distributing the soil to them, he picked up a small stool, found a relatively flat spot in the pit, sat down, and grabbed a handful of soil, placing it in the middle of the plate.

I dipped the plate into the water and then slowly shook it from side to side, and the sand grains were gradually flung out.

Then, repeating the process, the sand was quickly washed away, leaving a few small grains of gold in the center of the plate.

"I think this is worth two or three hundred?" Chen Feng estimated as he picked it up.

"Hehe, Brother Feng, I have more than you. I have five here." Lin Nian also finished spinning the ball and picked up the gold nuggets, laughing.

"Why is there nothing here? Did I throw it all out?" Chen Jianguo looked at his plate in confusion, then held it up and looked down at his empty bucket.

"Maybe you're just unlucky, and it's not possible to find gold in every handful of sand, so it's normal," Chen Feng said, grabbing another handful of sand and putting it into the plate.
