Chapter 39: No bottled food?

"Brother Feng has always been a good friend, it's just that the villagers always gossip about him," Lin Nian snorted.

After finishing his meal, Chen Feng prepared to go to Lu Dahai's house to buy a pack of cigarettes. As soon as he entered, he heard countless gasps of amazement from people.

"Holy crap, Fengzi, you made over four thousand today?"

"My goodness, you've really struck it rich!"

"Fengzi, how did you find this? Teach me!"

"Yeah, is there some trick to it?"

Chen Feng felt a headache coming on as he looked at the dozen or so people in the room staring at him at the same time.

This news spread like crazy. It's a waste that the FBI intelligence department didn't recruit you guys.

"It's just good luck, a stroke of good fortune. Calm down, calm down."

Chen Feng waved his hand, indicating that they could sit down.

Upon reaching the counter, Chen Feng said to Lu Dahai, "Two packs of Baitashan cigarettes, please."

Lu Dahai looked at him with a smile and said, "You've earned over four thousand, how about we get a pack of cigarettes to celebrate?"

"Forget it, smoking that stuff makes you cough." Chen Feng chuckled.

"Then a can of food will do too," Lu Dahai said jokingly, handing him a cigarette.

“Who eats canned food every day? I’ll get diabetes from it. I still have one of those two bottles left from last time,” Chen Feng said, taking the cigarette.

"I have to admit, you're really something, kid. You make several thousand every day, and there's always something coming your way?" Lu Dahai said, puzzled.

"Nonsense, what did you go out to do? If you didn't find some gold, you'd have wasted your travel expenses." Chen Feng leaned against the counter and unpacked the package.

"Damn, you're getting all cocky after I praised you a couple of times. There are so many gold prospectors, but I've never seen anyone walk out and find gold. You're the real pro," Lu Dahai chuckled.

"There's nothing I can do. I want to keep a low profile, but my abilities don't allow it." Chen Feng handed the money to Lu Dahai, waved his hand, and prepared to leave.

"Hey Fengzi, do you take on apprentices? I have a nephew who wants to strike it rich. Could you teach him? Or you can ask him to pay your tuition."

An older woman at the door stopped Chen Feng and discussed the matter with him.

"Auntie, actually... I've only been doing this for three days at most, who am I supposed to teach?" Chen Feng said helplessly.

“It’s alright, you have experience too. He’s your nephew, isn’t he your brother too? Help me out, I’ll have him come over tomorrow.” The aunt said, ready to make the decision.

"Forget it, don't come. I don't take on apprentices, and I don't know anything. I'm going home to sleep." Chen Feng said, turning to leave.

Isn't that crazy? I barely know you, let alone your nephew. Who is he anyway?

"Fengzi, why are you so stingy? It's just for a few days. Just tell him how you got it, isn't that easy?" The old lady blocked the doorway, not letting Chen Feng leave at all.

Chen Feng was getting annoyed by her, and frowned, saying, "If you're so good at talking, why don't you teach me? Why do you need me to teach you?"

Upon hearing this, the older woman waved her hand and said, "It's not that I don't understand, do you? You're the expert."

Chen Feng snorted and said, "I think you're the expert. This guy talks so easily. If you're so good at talking, you do it. I can't."

After Chen Feng finished speaking, he pushed her aside, ignored her, and left on his own.

The older woman was pushed aside and stood there awkwardly. She couldn't help but mutter to Chen Feng's back, "What's wrong with teaching this kid a lesson? It's not a big deal."

Upon hearing this, Lu Dahai couldn't help but chuckle, but remained silent.

Why should someone teach you? Why are you so arrogant, acting like they owe you something?

Seeing this, everyone inside couldn't help but smile, and they went about their business, chatting and playing games.

But at night, the village will surely have one more interesting story to tell.

When Huang Fei returned home, his mother couldn't wait to ask, "How was it today? What did you find?"

When Huang Fei's father saw Huang Fei's dejected appearance, he knew it was all in vain, so he snorted and didn't say anything.

"I didn't find anything. The timing was wrong today. I just watched Chen Feng rummaging around." Huang Fei said casually as he sat down at the dining table and picked up his rice bowl.

"Then what happened? There's nothing here!" Huang Fei's grandfather asked, puzzled.

Chen Feng gets to eat meat, but you don't even get to drink the soup?

"You can't stick to anything, what can you possibly make? I bet you'll be sleeping at home tomorrow," Huang Fei's dad said irritably.

I bought this machine for 3,000 yuan, and now it's probably just gone to waste.

"Nonsense, I'll definitely go out again tomorrow. Who said I lack perseverance?" Huang Fei retorted.

"It's okay if you don't find anything on the first day. Take your time. Nobody can find anything on the first day... except for Chen Feng."

Huang Fei's mother comforted him.

Huang Fei's father didn't believe Huang Fei's words at all; he knew the boy's personality all too well.

Huang Fei knew what his father was thinking, and naturally he was also holding his breath.

He had to set an example for his father.

When the Wang family heard that Chen Feng had made another four thousand yuan, they were filled with envy and jealousy. Old Wang's wife threw down her chopsticks and snorted.

"How come Chen Feng is so lucky? He always manages to find something. What is that stuff?"

She had a large mole on the corner of her mouth; she was the one who was making veiled accusations outside the door when Chen Feng woke up.

Old Wang sighed and said, "That's just their fate."

"What fate? What kind of fate could a widow possibly have?"

"I don't think he probably got that money from a bargain he found. Maybe some random guy gave it to him, and he's just too embarrassed to say it," Old Wang's wife snorted.

Old Wang was speechless upon hearing this and couldn't help but say, "Don't go around spreading rumors. When did she ever date another man?"

"All you do is spread rumors and talk big. Why do you keep provoking Chen Feng, that scoundrel?"

Upon hearing this, Old Wang's wife immediately flew into a rage, slammed her hand on the table, and shouted, "You, Wang, are talking nonsense!"

"When did I spread rumors? I would have said anything to Chen Feng if he hadn't stolen my chickens?"

"You're just a coward, you're nothing! Why don't you dare fight Chen Feng and get your money back?!"

Old Wang said irritably, "How could he steal your chickens, not anyone else's? You old women are always spreading rumors about Liu Ping, as if you saw it all."

"How could his son not be angry if he heard that? If you're so capable, why don't you go ask Chen Feng for the chicken money?"

"Go to hell, you're nothing. You call yourself a man? You're not even as good as that nice old woman."

"I'm going to Chen Feng tomorrow to ask for the chicken money. You just wait and see, if he makes money and doesn't give it to me, you'll see what I do to him!" Old Wang's wife cursed angrily.

Old Wang is henpecked and can't control his wife at all. Hearing this, he sighed and waved his hand.

Do whatever you want. If you can't afford to mess with them, can't you at least avoid them?

The weather forecast for tonight showed that tomorrow would be cloudy with possible light rain. Zheng Ping and his group discussed it and decided to wait and see what the weather was like before going to the abandoned mine. They decided to stay home and do some farm work instead.
