Chapter 138: Low price tells you, you better sell it at a higher price.

"It looks fine for now, but who knows what it'll be like when you're driving it? And your car looks a bit dirty. What do you usually do?"

Huang Fei opened the car door and asked with a frown.

"I just use it to haul goods. It's fine if it gets dirty; I can just wipe it off," the man said casually.

Chen Feng went into the car and quickly noticed a problem: there was a small hole in the back seat.

"Dude, your seat is broken," Chen Feng said, pointing to the hole.

The man felt a little embarrassed when he realized that the car dealers had discovered him. He thought he could get away with it, but he didn't expect these car dealers to be so sharp-eyed.

"That was from when I was hauling goods, it's nothing serious, just a small hole," the man explained.

Chen Feng didn't say anything more. It was his first time buying a used car, and he didn't know how to bargain. He was afraid that if he said too much, he would give himself away.

Anyway, just find the problem; that's where you'll start negotiating the price.

"So, brother, how much are you planning to sell it for?" Huang Fei asked.

"I'd like to sell it for 29,000. To be honest, I wouldn't be selling it if I didn't need the money urgently," the man said, touching the car.

"Twenty-nine thousand, that's a bit much, buddy. You've been driving it for over a year, and there are still problems with the interior."

"I don't even know if you've ever been in any dangerous situations before, we'll have to investigate that." Huang Fei clicked his tongue, looking somewhat hesitant.

"There has definitely been no danger, you can rest assured about that, you can adjust it as you like."

"The interior... it doesn't cost much to fix, maybe a hundred or twenty, or I can cover it," the man said.

"Have you had your car serviced since you bought it?" Huang Fei asked, looking inside the hood.

"I changed the oil, but nothing else was touched," the man answered truthfully.

“Your tires are all worn out and need to be replaced. That costs money; four tires cost eight hundred.” Huang Fei said, kicking the tires.

"Is my tire wear okay?" the man asked, looking down at his tires.

“What do you mean, ‘okay’? You’ve been driving for over a year, hauling goods every day. Do you think this is enough? These tires are all worn down. Look at how new tires look compared to yours.”

Huang Fei pressed his hand against the tire and patted the dust off his hands.

The man paused for a moment upon hearing this. He felt that as long as the tire was usable, it was fine. Anyway, he lived not far from home, at most a few dozen kilometers away, and he planned to replace it whenever it blew out.

But it seems that what he said is indeed true; the tires should be replaced after more than a year.

"Tires don't cost that much. I asked before, and they're only 140 each," the man said, trying to bargain.

"Isn't that bad? Cheap tires don't last long either, and similar ones cost around two hundred yuan," Huang Fei said definitively.

"Well... for the four tires and the interior trim, I'll deduct eight hundred from the total," the man said after thinking for a moment.

"Why bother with 800? Just give me 1000. You're not short of money." Huang Fei immediately started bargaining.

"Isn't a thousand a bit too much?" the man hesitated.

It's a perfectly normal mindset for sellers to want to sell more and buyers to want to get a lower price.

"That's really not much. This is assuming your car doesn't have any other problems. If it does, can you deduct a thousand?" Huang Fei was still looking at the hood, fiddling with the pipes inside.

"Alright, how long will it take you to sell them?" The man was genuinely in a hurry for the money, so a thousand was fine, it was within his expectations.

Huang Fei and Chen Feng were both stunned when the man said this.

They exchanged a quick glance, both seeing the confusion and bewilderment in each other's eyes.

What do you mean by "how long will it take to sell"? Are you treating them like car dealers?

The two reacted quickly, remaining silent. Huang Fei blinked and said, "That depends on the situation; it's hard to say."

"You need to give us your lowest price in mind; the cheaper it is, the easier it will sell."

Upon hearing this, the man thought for a moment and said, "If the other party is really sincere about buying, I can accept a discount of three or five hundred, but that's the most I can offer. It can't be any lower than that."

"Do you need the money urgently?" Huang Fei couldn't help but ask.

"Yes, if I weren't in a hurry for money, why would I be selling a car?" The man nodded.

Huang Fei feigned hesitation, but finally said, "How about this, just give me the 27,500 directly."

"Fengzi, did you bring the money?"

Chen Feng nodded and said, "Cash. If that works, I'll transfer the money immediately."

The man wavered a little upon hearing this, but then he thought about the cash and how he could get it right away, so he nodded and said, "Okay, then I won't dawdle."

"It's 27,500, and it has to be in cash."

"Don't worry, I'll check the insurance, then I'll take the car for a spin. If everything's fine, we'll transfer the ownership right away." Huang Fei approached the man and began checking the insurance.

Just as the man said, the insurance premiums have never been paid out since they were first paid.

The three got into the car, and Huang Fei found a quiet spot with few cars and started driving. Everything seemed fine, so he turned to ask Chen Feng for his opinion.

"If there are no problems, let's accept it," Chen Feng said from the passenger seat.

"Okay, then let's take it."

The three of them found a place to transfer the ownership of the car, and Chen Feng transferred 27,500 yuan to the man, thus completing the purchase.

After receiving the money and confirming that everything was alright, the man took a taxi home, and Chen Feng and the other man sat in the car, chuckling to themselves.

"He seems to be treating us like intermediaries?" Huang Fei laughed uncontrollably.

"It's like they're treating us like middlemen," Chen Feng said, laughing heartily.

Becoming a car dealer out of nowhere feels pretty good.

"You have to find an individual buyer like this. Otherwise, with this car's condition, even if a car dealer doesn't charge you 30,000, it's a bargain. The most you can get is 29,000," Huang Fei said with a smile.

"I'm really lucky, but the car is a bit dirty. I'll take it to the car wash later and have them give it a good wash."

"Let's find a place to eat, are you hungry?" Chen Feng asked.

"I'm doing alright," Huang Fei said.

Huang Fei drove his car in, and the two of them went to the car wash together. Chen Feng drove his car in.

I washed both the inside and outside of the car. The car wash cost me fifteen yuan and took half an hour.

Chen Feng and Huang Fei went to find a place to eat. Chen Feng was fine with anything, but Huang Fei suggested they have spicy hot pot, since they didn't have it in the village.

The two went to a mala tang restaurant, each ordered a bowl, some fried skewers and drinks, totaling over thirty yuan.

When it came time to pay, Huang Fei wanted to pay, but Chen Feng stopped him. He said that Huang Fei had come out to help him today, so how could he let him pay?

"We need to go buy a single bed later. Should we go to the secondhand market for that?" Chen Feng said, handing Huang Fei a cigarette.

"Why are you buying a bed? Do you even have room for it?" Huang Fei asked, somewhat puzzled.

Chen Feng's house is not big. It has the structure of a self-built house in the countryside, where the living room and kitchen are at the entrance, and there are two rooms on the left and right.

Unlike the houses built now, which are large, bright, and have many rooms.

"No, I'm going to put it in the car. I'll remove the back seat later," Chen Feng said, taking a drag of his cigarette.

"Damn, that's a great idea! You're only using your car to carry yourself anyway, so having so many seats is pointless," Huang Fei exclaimed.

(This is not a scheduled post; it's all handwritten, fresh out of the oven, and posted as soon as it's finished.)
