Chapter 46 Mythical Beast Mounts

He decided to use what he had on hand to make a simple cot.

He selected several thick tree trunks and chopped them down with an iron axe.

He then arranged the tree trunks in parallel and secured them together with ropes woven from "tough vines" to form a rectangular frame. At the bottom of the frame, he added several thicker branches horizontally to increase strength and stability.

Making the cot took quite a while.

Throughout this process, the Pegasus remained quietly in place, watching Lin Feng work. Its gaze was no longer as hostile as it had been initially, but instead held a hint of curiosity and scrutiny.

Wangcai and Meiying stood guard to prevent other wild animals from approaching.

By the time the trolley was finished, it was already getting dark.

Lin Feng wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked to the side of the Pegasus.

“I’m sorry to trouble you. We’ll move you to that shelf and then take you back to my place. It’s safer there, and it’ll be easier to take care of you,” Lin Feng said softly.

He tried to lift the unicorn pegasi, but it was too large, and its left foreleg was injured and unable to support its weight. Lin Feng couldn't lift it onto the cot by himself.

Just as Lin Feng was at his wit's end, the Pegasus understood his intention.

It shook its head, then used its intact right foreleg to support itself on the ground, trying to stand up on its own.

It struggled a few times, but ultimately failed due to its injuries.

Seeing this, Lin Feng immediately stepped forward to help.

He used all his strength, half-hugging and half-supporting, and finally, with the help of the Pegasus, managed to get it to stand up, though only three legs were on the ground.

Then, he guided the unicorn Pegasus slowly to the side of the cot. He then carefully laid it on its side on the cot.

This process was extremely difficult. Lin Feng was panting heavily and his whole body was soaked in sweat.

The unicorn Pegasus also let out low moans of pain as it aggravated its wounds.

After settling the Pegasus onto the trolley, Lin Feng secured it with ropes to prevent it from slipping during the dragging process.

Next comes the most challenging task – dragging and dropping.

Lin Feng tied a thick "tough vine" rope to the front of the cot, then carried the other end of the rope on his shoulder.

"Wangcai, come and help too!" Lin Feng called out to Wangcai. He found a short rope, tied one end to the cot, and had Wangcai hold the other end in its mouth.

Once ready, Lin Feng took a deep breath and exerted his strength.

"rise!"

With Lin Feng and Wang Cai pulling together, the trolley began to move slowly across the grass.

But the speed was very slow. The weight of the Pegasus, plus the weight of the trailer itself, was at least several hundred kilograms.

Lin Feng had to exert tremendous effort to move each step.

The rugged forest path further complicated the dragging. The trailer would frequently get stuck on tree roots or rocks, forcing Lin Feng to stop, clear the obstacles, and then continue.

The phantom scouted ahead, occasionally letting out cries to warn Lin Feng about the road conditions.

As night deepened, the temperature in the forest began to drop.

Lin Feng was extremely exhausted; his clothes were soaked with sweat, which was also chilled by the evening breeze. His shoulders burned from the ropes binding them, and his legs felt as heavy as lead.

But he didn't give up. He knew he had to bring this strange creature back to the cabin as soon as possible.

The Pegasus lay quietly on the cot, sensing Lin Feng's hard work and determination.

It made no sound, but silently watched with its beautiful eyes the figure struggling to trek through the darkness ahead.

After an unknown amount of time, just as Lin Feng felt his strength was about to be exhausted, the outline of a wooden house finally appeared in front of him.

"We're here! We've finally arrived!" Lin Feng was overjoyed.

He gritted his teeth and used his last bit of strength to pull the cot into the open space in front of the cabin.

When he loosened the ropes on his shoulders, he was completely exhausted and sat down on the ground, panting heavily.

Wangcai was also exhausted, lying on the ground with his tongue sticking out.

The phantom jumped down from under the eaves and gently licked Lin Feng's fingers, as if to comfort him.

Lin Feng rested for a while and regained some of his strength.

He walked to the cot, looked at the still quiet unicorn, and a relieved smile appeared on his face.

“Welcome to my home,” he said softly.

He knew that from now on, his life would be completely transformed because of this wondrous creature.

After placing the Pegasus on the open ground next to the wooden house, Lin Feng, without taking a break, immediately began preparing a temporary shelter for it.

Using the remaining wood and thatch, he built a simple shed in a corner of the open space, which could barely keep out the wind and rain.

He laid a thick layer of dry grass on the ground to make the Pegasus more comfortable.

After treating those injuries, Lin Feng checked on the Pegasus's wounds. The wounds hadn't reopened, and the herbs had helped somewhat; the swelling and redness had subsided slightly. But this was far from enough. Lin Feng knew that this level of injury, and the potential for toxicity, required much more meticulous care.

He boiled water again, cleaned the wound with clean linen, and then applied new herbs.

This time, the Pegasus was more cooperative, quietly letting Lin Feng handle it, its eyes showing less wariness and more docility.

"Are you hungry? I'll go find you something to eat," Lin Feng said softly.

Horses are herbivores, but Lin Feng wasn't sure what this extraordinary unicorn Pegasus would eat.

He recalled that in some myths and legends, unicorns had a particular fondness for pure dew and certain plants.

He went into the forest, carefully searching for grass blades that looked fresh and juicy, and some plants that he considered relatively "clean." He even went out of his way to collect some leaves covered in morning dew.

He carefully placed the various kinds of grass he had collected near the Pegasus's mouth.

The unicorn Pegasus sniffed the hay, then began to eat it in small bites.

It is particularly interested in the tender leaves covered with dew and eats them with relish.

Seeing it begin to eat, Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it was willing to eat, there was hope for its recovery.

Over the next few days, Lin Feng's focus shifted almost entirely to taking care of the unicorn pegasus.

He changes its medicine, feeds it, and cleans its shed every day on time. He saves the best hay for it and brings it the cleanest spring water.

He cared for this unicorn winged horse even more than he cared for himself.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe it as "serving one's own father".

He would spend a lot of time with the unicorn Pegasus, talking to it, even though it might not understand him.

He would gently comb its snow-white, soft fur and stroke the single horn on its forehead.

The single-horned tentacle was warm and had a slightly cool feel, which made people feel very comfortable.

Lin Feng discovered that when the unicorn was stroked, the Pegasus would appear very happy and would emit a satisfied hum.

Wangcai and Meiying gradually became familiar with this new "big guy".

Wangcai is no longer as restless as it was at first. It will curiously circle around the unicorn Pegasus and occasionally rub its nose against its leg.

The Phantom maintained its aloof demeanor, but it would also quietly lie not far away and silently observe the Pegasus when it rested.

Under Lin Feng's meticulous care, the Pegasus's injuries improved day by day.

The wound gradually healed, and the redness and swelling completely subsided. The horn on its forehead became even brighter, and the luster on its wings became softer.

Its mental state is getting better and better, and it has begun to stand up on its own and move around in a small area around the shed.

Although his left foreleg is still slightly lame, it no longer affects his normal walking.

Its wariness of Lin Feng gradually decreased, and its eyes were filled with dependence and affection.

When Lin Feng approaches, it will nuzzle his arm with its head and let out a cheerful neigh.

Lin Feng could sense that this strange creature was slowly accepting him.

"Get well soon, my friend."

Lin Feng stroked the unicorn's neck and said softly, "Once you get better, we'll explore this world together."

He named the unicorn Pegasus "White Moonlight" because its snow-white fur would emit a soft halo under the white moonlight, and also because of its eyes that seemed to contain the stars and the sea.

Lin Feng has high hopes for the future of "White Moonlight".

He knew that once "White Moonlight" was fully recovered, and once he could truly tame it, it would become his most powerful asset in this primitive world.

With a mount, his hunting range can be expanded several times over, allowing him to explore unknown areas further away and find more resources.

Moreover, having a flying unicorn as a companion is something that would excite anyone.

Lin Feng began to consciously make some attempts to tame it.

He would lead "White Moonlight" on a leash and walk slowly around the open space around the cabin, letting it become familiar with his commands.

He would reward it with some of its favorite tender leaves to encourage it to perform some simple actions.

"White Moonlight" is very intelligent; it can fully understand Lin Feng's intentions.

Although it still retained a hint of arrogance, it did not resist Lin Feng's training; on the contrary, it showed a strong learning ability.

Lin Feng believed that as long as he had enough patience and love, he would definitely be able to win the complete trust of "White Moonlight" and make it his most loyal companion.

The sun shone brightly that day. As usual, Lin Feng changed "White Moonlight's" medicine and fed it fresh hay.

"White Moonlight" had mostly recovered from its injuries, though it still walked a little awkwardly. It gently nuzzled Lin Feng's cheek with its head, emitting an affectionate whimper.

Lin Feng's heart stirred, and he decided to give it a try and see if he could ride on the back of "White Moonlight".

He took a deep breath, slowly approached the body of "White Moonlight," and then carefully reached out and placed his hand on the broad back of "White Moonlight," gently applying pressure.

"White Moonlight" stiffened slightly, but did not resist. It turned to look at Lin Feng, its eyes filled with a question.

Lin Feng gently stroked its neck with his other hand to soothe it.

Then, he mustered his courage, leaped up, and sat steadily on the back of "White Moonlight".

The "White Moonlight" has a broad and stable back, making it very comfortable to sit on.

It didn't react much to Lin Feng's actions, only shaking its head slightly.

"Great!" Lin Feng was overjoyed. He had succeeded!

He gently patted "White Moonlight's" neck, indicating that it could move.

"White Moonlight" took off with all four hooves and began to walk slowly on the open ground.

Its steps were light and graceful, and even carrying Lin Feng, it showed no signs of strain.

Lin Feng sat on the back of "White Moonlight," feeling the breeze on his cheeks and watching the scenery rushing past him. His heart was filled with unprecedented joy and pride.

He knew that a new era was about to begin!
