Chapter 3 Fighting the Wolves for Territory

The male wolf clearly regarded Lin Feng as an intruder. Its limbs were slightly lowered, its muscles were tense, and the growl in its throat grew louder and louder, filled with a strong killing intent.

"bring it on."

Lin Feng muttered to himself, his eyes cold and focused. He had no way out; he was determined to get this cave.

Sensing Lin Feng's determination, the male wolf no longer hesitated. With a powerful leap from its hind legs, it transformed into a blur and pounced forward with lightning speed.

In the gaping maw, sharp canines gleamed coldly in the sunlight of the three suns, their target aimed directly at Lin Feng's throat!

Instead of retreating, Lin Feng advanced, slightly shifting his body to the side, narrowly avoiding the male wolf's fatal pounce.

At the same time, taking advantage of the wolf's lunge, he slashed his Swiss Army knife hard at the wolf's relatively soft belly!

"Sizzle!"

The sound of the blade piercing flesh was clearly audible.

"Awooo!" The male wolf let out a shrill howl as a deep, bone-revealing wound appeared on its abdomen, instantly staining the snow red with blood.

Having landed a successful blow, Lin Feng dared not be careless in the slightest.

Wounded wild animals are often more ferocious. He quickly took two steps back, putting distance between himself and the male wolf, and watched it warily.

The male wolf rolled around on the snow a few times, then quickly got up again.

Its abdomen was covered in blood from the wound, but its ferocity was fully unleashed.

It stared at Lin Feng with an extremely venomous look and launched another attack. However, this time, its movements were somewhat slow and unsteady due to its injury.

Lin Feng calmly dealt with the situation, using his agile movements and the sharp military knife in his hand to continuously add wounds to the male wolf's body.

He hadn't learned any sophisticated swordsmanship, but every strike he made targeted the male wolf's most vulnerable spots—its eyes, neck, and abdomen.

Just as Lin Feng felt that the male wolf's offensive was getting weaker and weaker and that he was about to be worn down, a sudden change occurred!

A shadow, slightly smaller than the previous male wolf but equally ferocious, silently darted out from the other side of the cave through a hidden exit concealed by bushes, its target none other than Lin Feng's back!

A she-wolf! And it was a sneak attack!

Lin Feng felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, and a deadly sense of crisis enveloped his entire body.

Before he could even turn around, his body, driven by his fighting instincts, rolled violently to the side!

"Pfft!"

The she-wolf's sharp claws barely grazed his back, leaving several deep cuts on his delivery uniform, sending a searing pain through him. Had he reacted even a fraction slower, he would likely have been disemboweled.

Damn it!

Lin Feng cursed under his breath and quickly got up from the ground. At this moment, he was caught in a dilemma, attacked from both sides.

The injured male wolf watched menacingly from the side, while the female wolf was clearly more cunning and ferocious.

The mother wolf missed her first attack, immediately adjusted her posture, and pounced again, forming a pincer movement with the male wolf.

Lin Feng took a deep breath, his eyes becoming even sharper.

He knew that today it was either him or her who would die.

He charged headlong into the more aggressive she-wolf, his military knife flashing coldly. He had to take one down first, or he'd be worn down sooner or later.

The battle was exceptionally fierce. Lin Feng was quickly wounded as well, his arms and thighs were slashed by wolf claws, and blood soaked through his clothes.

But he felt no pain at all; each strike was ruthless and precise. His physical strength was rapidly depleting, but his mind remained highly focused.

Finally, after a thrilling dodge, Lin Feng seized an opening in the mother wolf's defenses. He plunged his military knife into the wolf's eye socket at a tricky angle and twisted it forcefully!

"Awoo!"

The mother wolf let out a desperate and mournful howl, her body convulsed violently a few times, and then collapsed to the ground, never to make a sound again.

Having dealt with the mother wolf, Lin Feng didn't even have time to catch his breath before the injured male wolf pounced on him again.

But the male wolf was already at its last gasp. Lin Feng concentrated his remaining strength and fought it for several rounds before finally seizing an opportunity to stab it through the throat.

"Heh...heh..."

The male wolf made a few meaningless sounds in its throat, and blood gushed out like a spring. It struggled a few times, and finally collapsed unwillingly into a pool of blood.

"Huff... huff..."

Lin Feng leaned on his military knife, panting heavily.

As the adrenaline receded from his body, fatigue and intense pain washed over him like a tidal wave.

He looked at the two wolf carcasses at his feet and the blood all over the ground, but a cruel smile appeared on his face.

He won.

This cave is his now.

After resting for a while, Lin Feng dragged his tired body and first checked his injuries.

Most of them are superficial injuries; although they look scary, they do not damage the bones or muscles.

He took out some tissues from his pocket and simply bandaged the bleeding wound.

Then, he entered the cave he had fought his way back with his life.

The cave was drier and more spacious than he had imagined, winding its way inwards to a depth of about ten meters.

Deep inside the cave, he smelled a strong, milky odor.

He cautiously approached and discovered three wolf cubs, their eyes still closed, howling for food in a makeshift nest made of hay and animal fur.

Lin Feng looked at the three young lives without a trace of pity in his eyes.

In this cruel wilderness, there is no room for mercy.

Without hesitation, he raised his military knife and ended the lives of the three wolf cubs.

To him, they were merely potential threats, or rather... potential food.

After doing all this, Lin Feng finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He dragged the carcasses of the two adult wolves into the cave, leaving the cubs' bodies aside. He now urgently needed to deal with these spoils.

He began carefully peeling the wolf skin off with the sharp blade of his Swiss Army knife.

This was a delicate task, especially given his exhaustion and injuries.

But he was exceptionally focused on it.

He knew that a complete wolf pelt was an excellent source of warmth, more precious than any gold in this icy wilderness.

It took Lin Feng nearly two hours to completely peel off the two wolf skins.

Then, he cut the wolf meat into pieces, picked out the tenderest pieces, and prepared them for dinner.

He planned to preserve the rest of the wolf meat by smoking or air-drying.

The cave reeked of blood, and Lin Feng frowned. He threw the wolf's entrails and some bone fragments some distance outside the cave, hoping to attract some scavengers to dispose of them.

By the time all this was done, it was already getting dark.

Two of the three suns had already sunk beneath the distant snow-capped mountains, leaving only the sun radiating a dark red light hanging on the horizon, staining this icy world with an eerie crimson hue.

The temperature plummeted, and the cold wind howled, whipping up the snow on the ground and making a wailing sound, like the howling of ghosts and wolves.

Lin Feng cleared a flat area near the cave entrance and used dry branches and some dry kindling he found in the wolf den to start a campfire.

The flickering flames dispelled the chill at the cave entrance and brought a glimmer of light and a sense of security.

He skewered a piece of wolf meat on a sharpened stick and roasted it over a fire.

Soon, the aroma of meat filled the air.

He leaned against the cave wall, feeling the warmth from the flames and listening to the howling wind and snow outside, a sense of peace settled in his heart.

Although he had just survived a life-or-death battle and was covered in wounds, he felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. This was the life he wanted.

Just as the aroma of his grilled meat filled the air and he himself was starting to feel drowsy, a series of hurried footsteps and a woman's voice broke the tranquility.

"It looks...it looks like firelight!"

"Quick! There's a fire over there! And the smell of meat!"

"Is it that man? Has he found a place to stay?"

Lin Feng's brows furrowed instantly, the peace and joy in his heart vanished, replaced by intense disgust and impatience.

Why have these persistent women come back again?

Sure enough, a moment later, seven women, dressed in rags and shivering from the cold, appeared at the cave entrance.

Their hair was disheveled by the wind, their faces and hands were covered with frostbite and tiny cuts from tree branches, and their eyes were filled with longing for warmth and food, as well as a hint of barely perceptible fear.

When they saw the campfire burning in the cave and the piece of roasted wolf meat, golden brown and juicy, in Lin Feng's hand, their eyes widened in astonishment.

"They have barbecue!"

The Lolita internet celebrity, Tang Bao, exclaimed in surprise. Her originally cute Lolita dress was now torn in several places, covered in mud, and her face was filthy, making her look like a pitiful little kitten.

She practically scrambled towards the fire.

Although popular actress Su Wanqing tried her best to maintain a semblance of composure, her purple lips from the cold and her trembling body betrayed her predicament.

Her expensive evening gown was torn to shreds and barely held her body, offering no protection against the bitter cold.

She gazed greedily at the fire, then looked at Lin Feng, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

Following closely behind was Qin Lan, dressed in a business suit. She appeared to be the most composed of the women in the group, but the fatigue and anxiety between her brows were hard to conceal.

Fitness influencer Liu Fei, wearing yoga pants, found her once-proud figure meaningless in the face of the cold. Her tight yoga clothes clung to her body, soaking wet, making her feel like she was about to freeze.

These seven women, who are usually glamorous and admired goddesses, are now in a sorry state, like stray dogs.

They saw the cave and the fire as a lifeline.

Tang Bao was the first to break down, and with a sob in her voice, she tried to squeeze into the cave: "Big brother, please, let us come in and warm up by the fire, we're freezing to death!"

Lin Feng looked at them with disgust, his voice colder than the wind outside: "Get out of here!"
