Chapter 112: Testing

Chapter 112: Testing

I said mercilessly, "If you come back from a business trip for a few months and find that someone else is living in your house and your daughter treats your cousin as her real father, I guess you won't be in a good mood either."

Deng Sisi's eyes started to turn red again. My mom was about to scold me, but my dad glared at her and said, "What do you want to say? What did Mengmeng say wrong? Everyone needs to know their place! Come on, stop talking about unhappy things during the New Year."

Deng Sisi didn't dare to say a word, and ate in small bites with a look of grievance on her face.

I know my dad also can't stand Deng Sisi's behavior, but my mom is willing to spoil her, so my dad doesn't bother with her for my mom's sake.

However, business people are generally superstitious, and crying during special times like the New Year is a taboo.

My mother secretly pulled her, and Deng Sisi forced herself to hold back her tears.

After dinner, Deng Sisi accompanied my mother to the kitchen to clean up, and my father and I sat in the living room chatting.

I asked tentatively, "Dad, a classmate of mine told me a few days ago that she accidentally discovered that her father had an illegitimate child outside. She cried so hard on the phone with me."

My dad was stunned and said with a dry laugh, "It's New Year's Day, why are your classmates telling you this?"

"She has a good relationship with me. Should she tell her mother about this kind of thing? Hey, do you think she should tell her mother?" I asked deliberately.

My dad blurted out, "Of course not! If she tells, her family will fall apart."

"But her father already has an illegitimate child. It's so unfair to her mother. What if all the property is transferred to that shameless woman outside?" I looked worried for my friend.

My father looked at me with an embarrassed expression, feeling somewhat guilty: "She is her biological daughter after all, how could he give all his property to outsiders? He must have left some money for her.

A daughter shouldn't meddle in her father's affairs. Every family has its own problems. You don't know the circumstances of other families, so don't worry about them."

I smiled and said, "That's right, Dad. Do you think that men with money will find mistresses outside?"

My dad's expression became more and more unnatural. "It doesn't matter where it is, it depends on the situation."

I simply asked directly, "Dad, do you have any illegitimate children outside? Will you suddenly bring me a younger brother one day?"

My dad jumped up from the sofa and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? It's New Year's Day. If your mother heard this, we won't be able to celebrate the New Year. How could I, how could I have another family outside?"

I just looked at him quietly without saying a word.

My dad got scared when I looked at him. "Mengmeng, if someone tells you nonsense, don't believe it. You and your mom are the most important people in my life."

I smiled faintly as I watched my father's reaction, and my heart felt cold.

The feeling of home I had as a child is gone.

In the evening, I wanted to chat with Xiao Shiqiu, but he only replied: "Baby, I have something to do tonight, so I can't chat with you."

He never paid any attention to me after that. I felt empty inside and tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

In the middle of the night, I looked down from the balcony and saw that the lights in my parents' and Deng Sisi's rooms upstairs were off.

I put on a long down jacket over my pajamas and quietly opened the door to go out.

When my dad parks his car in the garage, he never locks the door and leaves the keys inside.

I opened the door and got in the driver's seat, hoping to find something in the car.

Sure enough, there was a mobile phone in the glove box. I turned on the screen and entered my father's birthday first, but the password was wrong. After thinking about it, I entered my birthday, but the password was still wrong.
