Chapter 77 A Family of Three
I rubbed my forehead and said coquettishly, "But the way she looks at you is different."
"Your man is handsome, but you don't let others see him? You are a little overbearing, little girl." He hugged me in his arms and laughed heartily.
At this moment, his phone rang, and a charming female voice came over, "Mr. Xiao, your movie tickets have been booked. The movie is at 8:20 pm. The ticket collection information has been sent to you on WeChat."
"Okay, got it." He replied and hung up.
After getting dressed, he took me to the most upscale shopping mall nearby. "What do you want to eat?" he asked casually. I was about to answer, but then I remembered the last time I asked and he vetoed my request. I snorted and said resentfully, "It's useless for me to say it, so why are you asking me?"
"Who said your words are useless? Just pick out the things I agree with and say no." He answered as a matter of course.
I:"……"
While taking the escalator upstairs, I saw a familiar figure coming out of a jewelry store. Although it was only his profile, I could recognize at a glance that it was my father.
I was about to call him excitedly, but then I remembered the man next to me and it seemed difficult to introduce him, so I suppressed my words.
But why didn't my dad tell me he was coming to City A? Was he coming to take me home? I've been studying in City A for over three years, and he's never come to see me. It's unlikely he'd come to take me home.
As I was wondering, I saw a young woman in her thirties, dressed in luxurious clothes, following my father out, holding a boy of about ten years old in one hand and carrying a shopping bag from that store in the other.
After coming out, she seemed very intimate with my dad and put her arm around his arm. Then it was my dad's turn to hold the little boy's hand, and they looked like a family of three.
I was stunned as I watched them leave. I felt that woman looked familiar, but I couldn't remember where she was. Xiao Shiqiu saw that I looked strange and squeezed my hand. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"I, I think I saw my dad." I said uncertainly.
"He's coming to pick you up?"
"I don't know if it's him. He looks very similar, but there's a woman and a little boy next to him. They look like a family of three." My voice got smaller and smaller. "Maybe I'm seeing things." I whispered to comfort myself.
Seeing me like this, Xiao Shiqiu put his arm around my shoulders and said, "Well, maybe I saw it wrongly. Don't think too much about it."
I was worried, so I took out my phone and called my mom, "Mom, I'll be back tomorrow."
"I know. What time will you be home?" My mother's voice was always calm and expressionless.
"It should be in the afternoon." I hesitated and asked again: "Where's my dad? Is he home?"
"He's on a business trip and said he'll be back in two days."
My heart skipped a beat. "Where did he go on this business trip?"
My mother was a little surprised. "What's wrong? Are you suddenly concerned about your father?"
"Oh, I was thinking that if he came to City A on a business trip, he could just take me back with him." I made up an excuse.
"He didn't say anything. You know I never care about his business. Why don't you give him a call and ask? If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
After saying that, my mother hung up the phone.
I have become accustomed to my mother's attitude. Sometimes I feel that she doesn't love me, but when she enrolls me in various interest classes and tutoring classes, she spends money without blinking an eye.
My food, clothing and other expenses have always been among the best in the class. She takes great care of me and is definitely a qualified and good mother. It's just that I always feel like something is missing.
