Chapter 844: Work Experience is a Bit Niche
The ladder slowly rose, and Xiaoyan's expression became serious, obviously entering a state of alert.
"I'm going to the bathroom." When the elevator reached the observation deck, Xiaoyan suddenly raised her voice and winked at me.
Huang Tianyi immediately understood, took my arm and said exaggeratedly: "Look over there! I want to take a picture of this night view!"
She deliberately dragged me to the floor-to-ceiling window. It was already dark outside. Through the reflection in the glass, I saw that Xiaoyan did not go towards the bathroom, but hid behind a pillar and quietly observed the hall.
I saw the Maori youth come out of another elevator, look around, and stop after his eyes swept over us.
He seemed to be completely unprepared and just casually held up his phone and took pictures in our direction.
It has now been confirmed that this Maori youth is coming for us.
After a while, Xiaoyan came back. She whispered a few words to Zhao Hu. Zhao Hu frowned and nodded.
Then he said something to Song Ci, who said reluctantly, "Does it have to be now? Aren't you guys being too concerned?"
Zhao Hu's expression grew serious. His voice was low but stern. "Have you forgotten why you came here? Do you really think you're here to travel with your girlfriend?"
Song Ci seemed to have just remembered and quickly put down his knife and fork, "Yes, I'll go right away."
Twenty minutes after Song Ci went out, our dishes still hadn't arrived.
After the revolving restaurant had turned half a circle, I saw Song Ci coming back with a serious expression. He walked to Zhao Hu, patted him on the shoulder, and gave him a look, motioning him to go aside.
After they left, Xiaoyan thought about it and followed them. Azhi also wanted to stand up, but Xiaoyan held him down and said, "You continue eating. Eat your fill first."
As expected, Azhi was very obedient and continued to work hard.
The best thing about taking Azhi out to eat is that you can order all the dishes you want to try without worrying about not being able to finish them all.
When Azhi was a child, he must have been a good kid in the eyes of adults. He was not picky about food and would eat whatever was given to him. Watching him eat always made people feel that the food was delicious.
Unlike many children who need to be coaxed and tricked into eating, they will be praised if they take a few more bites.
Suddenly I remembered that he was an orphan when he was very young. Maybe it was because no one loved him, or even because he was hungry, that he became so easy to raise.
When the raw venison slices were served, Su Rina was disgusted. "I can tolerate eating raw salmon, but how can you eat raw venison?"
"That's nothing. I've had raw beef in Korea before. It was the kind with ice chips, shredded pears, and a raw egg. It was pretty tender."
Huang Tianyi has the widest range of recipes besides Azhi, and is very tolerant of all kinds of strange foods.
She put a piece in her mouth and chewed it carefully. "Not bad, it has a special fragrance, a soft texture, sweet and sour, and is more tender than beef tartare."
Huang Tianyi also loves to eat, but even though she loves to eat, her tastes are different.
Qin Shi said that Huang Tianyi and Su Rina both love to eat. Su Rina is a typical foodie, while Huang Tianyi is a gourmet.
In my simple and rough understanding, the difference between the two is that Su Rina has a good appetite, while Huang Tianyi eats less but has eaten a wide variety of foods.
For example, I've never eaten the beef tartare she mentioned, and apparently no one else has either. Su Rimin is very sensitive to the word "beef." She asked Huang Tianyi, "Where is Dada beef from? I've never heard of it."
"That's a French dish," Huang Tianyi said, speaking of food as if she were being asked about her major. "Fresh beef tenderloin or fillet cut into cubes, mixed with raw egg yolk, pickles, mustard, and black pepper, and usually served with toast."
Hearing that it would be eaten raw again, Su Rina immediately lost interest. "Our ancestors 600,000 years ago knew how to roast meat before eating it. How come some people prefer to eat it raw now?"
Out of curiosity, I tried a bite of raw venison. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't particularly delicious either.
I'm more interested in unpretentious dishes like citrus-braised pork belly.
When the waiter brought the beef eye from New Zealand Silver Fern Farm, Song Ci and the other three came back.
I looked at Xiaoyan with a questioning look. She smiled at me and whispered, "Let's eat first and talk about it when we get back."
Ling Xiuzhi praised the beef eye dish highly and began to show off his knowledge. "Did you know? The cattle on this farm are all free-range and only eat fresh grass, so the beef tastes particularly good."
Su Rina looked at him in a daze, "Don't cows eat grass? My cows eat grass too."
We all nodded in agreement.
The last local dessert served was Pavlova cake, which is somewhat similar to soufflé, but the surface is crispier. Although it is a bit sweet, it is covered with fresh fruits, so it is not greasy to eat.
After returning to the hotel, Xiaoyan, Song Ci and Zhao Hu followed us back to the room. I knew they must have something to discuss.
After entering the room, they didn't bother to be polite with us and sat down on the sofa directly.
Zhao Hu spoke first, "Just now when we were eating, I asked Xiao Song to follow that Maori man, and we did get some results." After saying that, he looked at Song Ci.
Song Ci understood and continued, "That Maori man must be an ordinary person who was temporarily hired, so he has no anti-reconnaissance awareness at all. I followed him all the way to the second intersection of the Sky Tower, and he didn't even turn his head once."
He pulled out his phone and pulled up photos. "He saw this Asian guy wearing a baseball cap at the intersection. He was too far away to tell if he was Chinese. I could only confirm that he was Asian."
In the picture, a blurry male figure stands in the shadow of the street lamp. All that can be seen clearly is that he hands a stack of banknotes to the Maori youth.
"It's probably just a temporary stalker," Qian Hongcai analyzed. "If the Lu family really had influence here, they wouldn't use such a crappy spy to track us."
"track?"
Zhao Hu explained to us, "Prior to kidnapping, criminals usually follow their target and observe their habits and the people around them."
He looked at me and Huang Tianyi and asked, "Which of you brought a tablet?"
We both answered, "We brought them all."
"Take out the tablets, and let's study where they're most likely to strike."
Zhao Hu asked Song Ci to ask the hotel staff for paper and pen.
"Our trip lasts ten days. As experienced criminals, they will definitely not be in a hurry and will observe for two or three days.
See how much time the target spends alone, and once you've figured out who the target spends the most time with, try to find a way to avoid the people around the target first.
Find the easiest place to start.
Xiaoyan, you are more experienced in this area. If it were you, where would you choose?"
Huang Tianyi and I immediately opened our eyes wide and looked at Xiaoyan. Does she have experience?
Did she also kidnap our mother?
This work experience is a bit niche.
