Chapter Seventy: The Zombie King (25)
Countless zombies frantically climbed the city walls, and some even formed human ladders in a desperate attempt to climb up.
The ability users formed another strong defense on the city wall. Nan Wan'er and the other thirty-nine water-based ability users stood on the top of the wall, releasing water and then turning it into ice to prevent zombies from climbing.
However, this was to no avail, as more zombies learned to insert their sharp nails into the ice and use them to climb up.
Qin Xiao arrived a little late, but his first priority was to rush to Nan Wan'er's side and knock down the zombie in front of her with a lightning strike.
Nan Wan'er caught a glimpse of Qin Xiao rushing over and pretended to collapse backward as if she were exhausted.
"Wan'er, are you alright?" Qin Xiao quickly hugged her, feeling extremely distressed.
Nan Wan'er shook her head, her face pale. "It's nothing. I just have some special abilities that I've invested in. You can help me to the side to rest for a bit." Nan Wan'er shook her head, her gaze passing through Qin Xiao and meeting that of the man behind Qin Xiao.
That man was one of the ten level-six zombies that Gu Yanjing brought in last time. He is now a level-seven expert, while Qin Xiao is only level five.
The sound of something cutting through the air reached my ears, carrying the stench unique to zombies.
Qin Xiao held Nan Wan'er in his arms and instinctively tried to dodge, but found that his whole body was frozen in a thin layer of ice, which hindered his movements.
He looked down and saw the pale-faced girl give a smug smile before shoving him violently into the zombies behind her.
Chaos reigned all around. The level seven expert they relied on had just turned into a ferocious zombie right before their eyes, tearing Qin Xiao's chest through in an instant.
Nan Wan'er let out a realistic scream, and in the chaos, Qin Xiao fell off the wall.
The zombie glanced at Nan Wan'er again, and after injuring a group of people, it leaped down and disappeared into the crowded horde of zombies.
About half an hour later, the zombie horde gradually dispersed. Nan Wan'er, panting heavily, was helped down by others, and many familiar people comforted her.
After all, everyone knows that Qin Xiao and Nan Wan'er are a couple, and they all saw Qin Xiao being killed by zombies and falling off the wall. It's estimated that his flesh and bones have been completely devoured by the zombies by now.
Nan Wan'er's face was pale, with tears still on it, and she looked filthy, as if she had lost all hope.
Gu Yanjing took a feather fan and stood not far away, slightly covering his nose, as the surrounding smell made him feel nauseous.
"He's become ruthless, but not ruthless enough," Gu Yanjing commented slowly.
"Your Majesty is absolutely right," Lu Lingjun flattered like a sycophant.
Gu Yan glanced at him in surprise, but didn't say anything, his gaze showing a hint of disdain.
"You mean, is Qin Xiao dead now?" Gu Yan's surprised gaze slowly fell to the city below.
The scene was a bloody mess, with countless white bones still covered in bits of flesh and blood.
It was impossible to tell how many people's bones were below, or which bones belonged to which person.
"Of course he's dead, but he's also alive." As long as he can move and remember the hatred in his heart, how can he not be alive?
"Then tell me again, what would Nan Wan'er do if she knew Qin Xiao was still alive?" Gu Yan's figure vanished, leaving the place in an instant, stopping a thousand meters away.
Lu Lingjun naturally followed.
“Then, naturally, we’ll kill him again.” Lu Lingjun followed Gu Yanjing’s tilted gaze and looked at the man with a huge hole in his chest, who had become a walking corpse.
