Chapter Ninety-One: His Majesty the Vermilion Bird (Part Seven)
Gu Yanjing got up early and was eating breakfast served by Mudan Molan when he suddenly heard someone outside report that the Sect Master of Tianming Sect had arrived to give a lesson to His Majesty.
Then, before the little fish demon could finish speaking, a middle-aged man entered from behind.
The man, dressed in white, was exceptionally handsome, but because he held a high position, he appeared righteous and awe-inspiring, exuding a powerful aura that commanded respect without being intimidated.
"This old minister greets Your Majesty. It has been a few days since I last saw you. When did Your Majesty acquire so many little demons?" The man was none other than the male protagonist's father, Murong Hua.
Murong Hua couldn't help but frown as he looked at the two maids serving him on either side.
He deliberately dismissed all the palace servants who served Gu Yanjing, giving him only enough food and water to survive each day, and restricting Gu Yanjing from leaving. Wasn't this just to make the young emperor annoyed?
As a result, after only three days of not coming to check on things, the palace had changed so much that he almost didn't recognize it.
If this young emperor weren't still the same incompetent young emperor, he would have thought it was the ancestors of the Gu family appearing to him.
"I have a few servants around me, and who are they? What right do you have to tell me what to do?" Gu Yanjing's expression was rather unpleasant.
Even having breakfast can be disturbed; Lu Lingjun is such a useless piece of trash.
That's right, Lu Lingjun was sent by Gu Yanjing to guard the door.
"Your Majesty, this old minister is naturally not qualified to interfere. However, Your Majesty cannot cultivate, and with so many vixens around, this old minister is afraid they will harm Your Majesty." Murong Hua put on a great show, instantly feigning pitifulness and grievance, as if he was thinking of Gu Yanjing's best interests.
Gu Yanjing found the sight disgusting and put down her chopsticks.
"Your Majesty, has something offended your eyes and made you unable to eat breakfast?" Mo Lan said sharply as soon as she saw Gu Yanjing stop eating.
Murong Hua, wiping away tears: ...Where did this brat come from?
I don't know whether to praise her for her keen observation or if she deliberately tricked him.
"Let's withdraw." Gu Yan waved his hand in surprise.
In an instant, a dozen or so women rushed in and quickly cleared away all the food and dishes, doing so silently yet impossible to ignore.
Murong Hua stood there like a fool, unsure whether to continue crying or just leave.
No, His Majesty doesn't seem quite right today either.
Could it really be the spirit of the Gu family's ancestors?
Impossible. Those people have either been annihilated or entered the cycle of reincarnation. How could they possibly come out to help a junior who cannot cultivate?
"Your Majesty," Murong Hua opened his mouth.
Gu Yanjing interrupted him directly: "Step down."
Murong Hua felt a chill run down her spine after being stared at by Gu Yanjing. Without daring to delay, she left immediately.
There's something strange about this palace.
Lu Lingjun leaned against the doorway, watching Murong Hua rush out. He cast a small spell on Murong Hua's back before turning and going inside.
Inside, Gu Yanjing ate breakfast, and like a tyrant, watched the peony dance and ate the fruit that Mo Lan fed him.
Lu Lingjun suddenly felt a tightness in his chest.
Gu Yanjing adapted quite quickly.
"Would Your Majesty like to go for a walk?" Lu Lingjun took a deep breath, suppressing the jealousy in his heart.
"I'm not going." Gu Yanjing changed his position and lay down. It's not good to eat fruit while lying down, so he asked Mo Lan to read him some dirty books.
Mo Lan read it with a charming smile, her emotions perfectly conveyed—a true level 10 voice actress.
The surrounding spirits blushed and giggled.
Lu Lingjun: ...There's a bit of color on this head.
