Chapter Ninety-Six: His Majesty the Vermilion Bird (Part Twelve)

Gu Yanjing looked in the direction Lu Lingjun was pointing and immediately saw a huge apricot tree in a house on the side of the street. Its branches had grown over the wall and were laden with golden apricots.

For a moment, Gu Yanjing felt as if he had returned to the time when he was in the human world.

Back then, when he was still a young boy, he and Lu Lingjun descended to the mortal realm for the first time, and everything was new and exciting to them.

Seeing the half-grown oranges hanging outside someone's courtyard wall, they couldn't resist the temptation and urged Lu Lingjun to pick some for them. However, the owner happened to see them and chased them for three miles with a broom.

At that time, the two children ran all the way with oranges in their arms, laughing. But when they finally ate the oranges, they found that it was not the right time for oranges to ripen. The oranges were sour and astringent that Gu Yan's teeth ached from the sourness.

However, at that time, the two were truly carefree and intimately close.

He regained his senses in a moment, looked at the ripe apricots, glanced around at the quiet, deserted street, and nodded reservedly: "Mm."

"Then Your Majesty, please prepare yourself. I will go and pick them. If the owner discovers them, Your Majesty will have to run away with me." Lu Lingjun smiled and draped a snow-white cloak over Gu Yanjing's shoulders. "It's windy at night, Your Majesty, please don't catch a cold."

This angered the two maids, who puffed out their cheeks in frustration.

This person has truly paved the way for them, leaving them no room to maneuver.

History repeats itself in an astonishing way. Lu Lingjun tiptoed to steal a bag of apricots, and, wanting to pick more, happened to run into the owner's family who were returning home late.

The three bystanders immediately turned and ran without looking back, and Lu Lingjun grabbed Xingzi with his clothes and ran after them.

The four of them ran so fast that they couldn't hear what their pursuers were saying; all they could hear was the sound of the wind, as if they had returned to the carefree days of their youth.

The host chased after them for a while but couldn't catch up. He almost lost his shoes while running, and panting heavily, he muttered to himself, "Those apricots are bitter, how come they ran so fast? I'm not going to hit anyone. These young masters, really."

On the other side, beneath the palace wall, Gu Yanjing had already stuffed an apricot into Lu Lingjun's mouth: "This time, you try it for me first, and see if it's delicious."

Lu Lingjun was fed an apricot, and his face almost scrunched up in pain. Although it didn't look very good, he exclaimed to Gu Yan in surprise, "Your Majesty, it's sweet."

Gu Yanjing sneered, slapped away the apricot that Lu Lingjun was feeding him, and turned to leave.

Lu Lingjun grabbed Gu Yanjing's hand, slammed him against the wall, and kissed him so hard that Gu Yanjing could barely breathe.

My mouth was filled with the bitter taste of apricots.

He tried to break free, but the other person forced him to swallow the taste.

"Your Majesty, try it. Is it sweet? To me, even if it's poison, it's sweet." Lu Lingjun released Gu Yanjing and licked the corner of Gu Yanjing's lips.

It all tastes like His Majesty's cooking.

Gu Yanjing raised his hand to wipe away Lu Lingjun's drool and spat, "Fine, then go cook a bowl of noodles, and I'll personally feed you."

Lu Lingjun: "...Your Majesty, isn't this a bit too harsh?"

How could he not know what he was doing?

"Oh, didn't you say that anything I feed you, even poison, will taste sweet?" Gu Yanjing sneered.

What a scoundrel.

Lu Lingjun did not answer, but instead hugged Gu Yanjing's waist and rubbed against him, saying coquettishly, "Your Majesty, please forgive me. I was just thinking about Your Majesty too much just now."
