Chapter 82 Temper

Meng Beiyan has a girlfriend.

Ying Qian only discovered it during the final exams.

Once New Year's Day was over, Meng Beiyan stopped picking her up and dropping her off, and her life returned to its usual routine of going back to home and work.

Ying Qian stays up late every night to do practice problems, and her dark circles under her eyes betray her.

She had lost a lot of weight during this period, and her once plump face was now somewhat gaunt, with her long, narrow eyelashes blinking innocently every day.

Ying Qian jogged a short distance, her body round and plump from wearing thick clothes, like a little doll. She stopped next to a snowdrift, deliberately turning back to make eye contact with Chen Wenzhi. "Thud!" She stepped on it, and the snow collapsed.

Chen Wenzhi followed behind, his doting smile followed by a reminder: "Don't step on it! You'll get your shoes wet! Don't blame me if your feet get cold!"

He noticed the changes in Ying Qian's body recently and subtly reminded her to get some rest.

She's a smart woman; she agreed verbally.

The lights stubbornly remained on at night.

Chen Wenzhi was also so worried about her that he sighed all day long.

"Chen Wenzhi, do you know what's wrong with Gu Xinan? He's been acting strange lately!" Ying Qian skipped back to the side of the reassuring young man.

Chen Wenzhi's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly, and his breath hitched slightly, as if he hadn't expected to be asked this question. "I don't know, I've been busy lately."

He made up some excuse.

Gu Xinan's little scheme must not be known to her. If she finds out, Gu Xinan and she will no longer be able to be friends.

Ying Qian was speechless.

"Okay, okay, have you decided where to go for winter break?" She looked expectantly into his obsidian-black eyes and couldn't help but pull his hand and start shaking it.

Chen Wenzhi raised his hand and gently stroked the bridge of her nose, saying without hesitation, "Be with you, I don't have a hobby of taking vacations."

"That's great!"

She seemed to have already guessed that Chen Wenzhi would say that, but she still felt a surge of joy from the bottom of her heart, and a smile spread across her entire face.

Chen Wenzhi watched her being as happy as a child and sighed softly.

"Why are you sighing like that?" Ying Qian turned her head. "Smile, Chen Wenzhi, you look better when you smile!"

He actually obeyed and put on a forced smile.

Seeing his forced smile, Ying Qian couldn't help but laugh and said, "You should just give up! You look much better when you smile genuinely! Hahahaha..."

"..."

When I arrived at the classroom, I saw Gu Xinan moving things.

"Gu Xinan, what's gotten into you today?" Ying Qian squeezed into a seat through the gap. Most of the books on the table next to her had already been moved away, leaving it empty.

Seeing that Gu Xinan was still absent-minded and nonchalant, she reached out and tugged at the corner of his school uniform. "Gu Xinan, what's wrong? Tell me."

"There's nothing to say." He was much more serious than usual, his deep brown eyes shining through the sunlight like amber. "I don't want to sit at the same table as you anymore."

"Oh." Ying Qian was completely baffled and picked up a stack of books with a silly grin.

"Then I'll help you move it!"

Hearing her say that...

Gu Xinan plopped back down. "I'm not moving."

Ying Qian was still standing, holding his book in her arms: "???"

"I suddenly don't want to move anymore." Gu Xinan glanced at her puzzled expression and smiled almost imperceptibly.

During morning reading, the class monitor from the next class ran over and said, "Hey, there's a long break today, and the leaders are going to inspect us. Remember to wear your school uniform. If you're not wearing your uniform, go find Teacher Lin!"

The class erupted in groans; it was time for morning exercises again.

But they all obediently took their school uniforms.

Ying Qian's school uniform is still hanging on the balcony, probably still dripping wet.

She thought for a few seconds and decided to go directly to the office to confess. What could they do to her? At most, she would be punished by copying texts or standing in the corner, and they might say a few harsh words.

She suddenly stood up.

Gu Xinan glanced at her burgundy hoodie, and without saying a word, he put down his Chinese textbook, took off his school uniform, and leaned back to block her way.

Ying Qian lowered her eyes and could only see his teasing gaze. Thinking he was about to say something sarcastic, she rolled her eyes at him and said irritably, "What?"

Gu Xinan smiled, but instead of speaking rudely, he placed the school uniform on her desk, left the words "a hero saving an ugly person," and walked out with his hands in his pockets, looking dashing and unrestrained.

Ying Qian stared at the school uniform for a few seconds, stunned.

When I came to my senses and tried to call out to him, he was already far away.

The winter school uniform is still blue and white, but it's thicker and looser.

Ying Qian hesitated for a moment, then put it on; it was much larger than her original clothes.

She was heartbroken, having once again incurred a debt of gratitude.

How should I repay it?

She's constantly in debt to people.

I might as well spend the rest of my life repaying your kindness.

After a long while, Gu Xinan slowly returned, a disdainful look on his face.

He sat down in his seat.

Did Teacher Lin scold you?

“I got scolded,” he replied casually. “They removed me from my position as class monitor, saying I wasn’t setting a good example.”

Is it that serious...?

"I..." Her breath hitched, and an idea popped into her head, "How about..."

Gu Xinan knew she was going to pull that "tell the truth" act again, so he raised his hand to stop her restless hands, sighed, and said helplessly, "Would it kill you to accept my kindness?"

"No." Ying Qian's lips twitched slightly. "But!"

Gu Xinan immediately covered her mouth, speaking casually, "Stop! You've put the clothes on, that's fine. Just wash them and give them back to me. I don't need anything else! I'll be grateful if you have time to go out for a meal with me during my holiday in a couple of days!"

Ying Qian felt a little more at ease.

After saying that, Gu Xinan added, "Can you not be so strict about repaying loans? Sometimes it's really unnecessary. You're too stubborn."
