Chapter Fifty-Four: First Love

Soon after, Chen Chang slowly walked up to the stage and sat on either side of the leaders with his co-host.

The principal asked with a hint of disappointment, "Chen Chang, don't you feel regret?"

"Hmm?" Chen Chang smiled, calmly asking as he tidied his manuscript, "What does the principal mean?"

"Why did you choose to stay in school when you had the opportunity to be admitted to a better university?"

Chen Chang's lips trembled slightly, but he quickly replied with a calm expression, "My sister is quite sensitive, and I want to stay so I can take care of her."

"Is that so?" The principal smiled with relief, casually mentioning the past, "I thought it was because of Xi Yin, but it seems I was overthinking it."

His fists clenched, his eyes grew dimmer, and he lowered his head, pretending to look at the manuscript, but his breathing was already chaotic and disordered. No matter what, the matter of Xi Yin was deeply imprinted in his heart... He hated it!

"The past cannot be retrieved," the teacher often said.

But the name "Xi Yin" was like a fine needle, piercing the softest spot in his heart, evoking memories of the girl's sweet smile, the embrace under the sunset, the blessings in the snow...

We've known each other for five years, and she always says with a smile, "Do you think we'll be together in the future? (Sad face)?"

Every time, he answered without hesitation: "Yes, of course."

The last time they met, Xi Yin wore a light pink dress and a scarf he had knitted by hand. Her smile was still bright and sunny as she waved goodbye to him.

"Chen Chang!" his female partner called his name. "It's starting, get on with the script! Otherwise, I'll take this part!"

He paused for a moment, suppressing the bitterness in his heart, and said, "Okay, I understand."

"First love? Chen Chang still has a first love? Tell me more about it."

Before the 3,000-meter race even started, Ying Qian left her seat and ran to the small bamboo grove behind the toilets. The grove was on higher ground, and she could clearly see the students at the check-in area.

I didn't expect to hear two boys smoking talking as soon as I got there.

"It is said that the two were reported because of their close relationship. Later, Chen went to participate in the Olympiad. His girlfriend blamed herself for everything and jumped off a building."

"Huh? Is it really that serious?"

"Oh, let me tell you, that girl's parents were going through a divorce. When she was called to the school, she cursed a lot of nasty things right at the classroom door! The sound of her slapping could be heard throughout the entire floor."

"No wonder...this is so pitiful..."

Ying Qian knew that eavesdropping was not a good thing, but having overheard these things, she felt even more sorry for Chen Chang. She had heard Chen Wenzhi mention before that Chen Chang had given up his guaranteed admission spot, and she was still wondering about it.

Now she understood completely.

Perhaps, the regret will haunt him for the rest of his life.

With a sigh, she was bitten several times on her calf. Just as she was about to lose her temper, she heard that her classmate Sanqianmi had already entered the field, so she hurriedly ran out of the bamboo grove.

"Xi Yin?" The boy, dressed in his senior year school uniform, immediately went weak in the knees and collapsed to the ground upon seeing Ying Qian running out of the bamboo forest.

Ying Qian wasn't sure if he was calling her, so she smiled awkwardly and leaned over to help him.

The boy rubbed his eyes, jumped up, and after seeing the girl's face clearly, bowed and scraped apologetically, saying, "I'm so sorry! I mistook you for someone else!"

"No, it's okay!" She tilted her head and smiled, then ran quickly toward the stands.

When they reached the stands, the class was already in an uproar, chanting "Chen Wenzhi's" name.

Ying Qian sat in the front row.

"Ying Qian, what's your relationship with that senior who shared his experience at noon?" a girl in the class asked curiously.

The cheers from the sidelines did not dampen the girls' curiosity at all.

“He’s my brother.” Ying Qian wasn’t thinking about that; right now, all she could see were the boys in numbered uniforms on the playground.

Chen Wenzhi was tall and didn't stand out much among the crowd, but to Ying Qian, he had an aura that allowed her to spot him at a glance.

He seemed to notice the intense gaze, and when he met it, he raised his hand and waved it a few times.

The boys who run 3,000 meters are all warriors. Those who volunteer are eager to participate, while those who are forced to stay put and give up are destined to finish the race!

Chen Wenzhi stood out from the crowd. Even though he was doing simple warm-ups like everyone else, he was still exceptionally dazzling, especially when his female fans shouted his name in unison.

Ying Qian was surprised. Even though she knew Chen Wenzhi had many female fans, she was still shocked. The deafening sounds rose and fell, harmoniously forming the name "Chen Wenzhi."

She could see the smile on the headmaster's face; clearly, their screaming was being tolerated.

She rested her chin on her hand, observing the situation on the field.

"Aren't you going to write a news article for him?" Ren Yi finally managed to squeeze to the front, holding a potato chip and putting it into his mouth one by one, without looking at her.

"unnecessary."

Ying Qian didn't write a press release, partly because Wang Mengyao forgot to bring it, and partly because Chen Wenzhi really didn't need any press releases to encourage him, at least not her to write one.

Just as he was about to ask a question, a long string of encouraging words was announced from the podium, all of which were attributed to Chen Wenzhi.

Ren Yi chuckled, finally understanding.

Soon, the first group of 3,000 warriors stood on the starting line. Chen Wen stopped in lane two, right in front of class three, and winked at Ying Qian.

She grinned foolishly and shouted "Go for it!" in a very generous manner.

The starting gun fired.

The contestants sprinted off like bullets, their speed was extremely impressive.

Chen Wen stopped running nonchalantly. After one lap, there wasn't much sweat on his forehead. In response to the screams, he simply nodded politely to the audience and waved.
