There were at least twenty people in the living room, both men and women, gathered around the coffee table eating sunflower seeds and snacks.
Ying Qian didn't recognize most of them. She felt uncomfortable being hugged by Chen Wenzhi and pushed him away.
Chen Wenzhi had definitely never hugged a girl before; he was too rough with his hands. After he let go, Ying Qian had a red mark on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I went too far."
Ying Qian shook her head. "I didn't say I was blaming you."
When the two people appeared in everyone's sight, the entire room fell silent.
All eyes were on the two of them.
Ren Yi was there. He arranged for Ying Qian to sit on the sofa and teased her with a grin, "I really didn't expect you to come! Chen Wenzhi! The sun must have risen in the west."
Although it was supposed to be Chen Yun's birthday party, she was nowhere to be seen.
Ying Qian looked around, searching for Chen Yun to no avail, so she slumped back on the sofa and watched an unknown TV series playing on the television.
Soon after, Chen Wenzhi also came over.
From this vantage point, you can see a huge pile of gifts on the balcony.
Ying Qian asked, "Have you prepared a gift for Shen Yun?"
"Ready?" Chen Wenzhi looked at the television with no interest.
"What?"
"Money," he replied earnestly. "I'm not good at buying gifts; giving money is the most direct way."
Ying Qian: "..."
"And you?"
“I already gave her my gift,” Ying Qian said with an embarrassed smile. “I gave her a painting and a set of her favorite poems.”
"Will you give me a painting for my birthday?" Chen Wenzhi asked without looking at her.
"We'll have to observe for a while longer," Ying Qian said, arms crossed and pouting. "I still don't know what you like..."
They both leaned against the sofa at the same time, her head resting on his neck, her soft hair brushing against it a few times.
Chen Wenzhi's breath hitched, and without thinking, he replied, "I'll like anything you give me."
