I don't know if Li Qinqin thinks she's lying.
There were no more replies in that chat window.
"No matter how much I sleep in winter, I can never get enough sleep." After her afternoon nap, Ying Qian washed her face.
Chen Wenzhi doesn't have the habit of taking a nap; he always stays in his study reading.
Most of the books in the study were left by the original owner, including fantasy novels and literary masterpieces.
There was also a small number of books belonging to Ying Qian. Among these, Chen Wenzhi's favorite was the art collection. Although it was called an art collection, it was just a compilation of sketchbooks.
He never imagined that Ying Qian would like to draw so much.
Seeing that he was looking at the art collection, Ying Qian naturally leaned on his shoulder and followed his gaze downwards. The brushstrokes were still so clearly etched on the paper.
The painting depicts mountains and water, and also includes some sketches.
It carries five years of loneliness.
"Why do you draw so little now?" Chen Wenzhi asked, turning the pages.
Ying Qian pouted, "Um...maybe, I'm not as pessimistic as I used to be."
Because of a new life?
“Yes.” Speaking of this, Ying Qian was very grateful to Meng Beiyan. “At least I don’t have to worry about food and clothing anymore, I can go to school, and I can do whatever I want. I am a free person.”
Chen Wenzhi felt a pang of sympathy for him for some reason.
"Aren't you bored being with me every day, Chen Wenzhi?" she suddenly asked.
This question left Chen Wenzhi bewildered. "Why would you ask such a question?"
“Because I get bored when I’m with someone for a long time.” Her hand, which was hanging on Chen Wenzhi’s chest, kept waving. “Except for you.”
Chen Wenzhi sighed silently, grasped Ying Qian's hand and said, "Just like you said, you are free, you have hope for the future, we are the same kind of people, that's why we came together. So far, there is no one more suitable to stand side by side with me than you."
"I'm so happy to be with you, how could I be bored?"
"What about after that? What if we're not in the same city after we graduate?" Ying Qian pressed on.
Chen Wenzhi said, "The love between couples who can truly stay together will gradually transform into kinship amidst the daily grind. It doesn't mean that love disappears, but rather that it becomes more reliable and dependable. The foundation of all this is time and experience."
The implication is that if our love is truly stronger than ever, then we can be together anywhere.
"What if I stop liking you one day?"
Chen Wenzhi had no idea where she got so many strange questions today, so he could only resign himself to answering them one by one.
He separated his fingers and intertwined them with Ying Qian's, answering earnestly, "Whether you love me or not is your freedom. If that day ever comes, don't blame yourself. Just tell me, and I will let go and encourage you to embark on a new journey."
"I don't want to be apart from you anymore, Chen Wenzhi." Ying Qian nuzzled against his neck, her voice soft. "Let's never be apart, okay?"
"Um."
Perhaps they never imagined that the promises they made in their youth would truly become eternal.
He spent the afternoon reading and doing practice problems in his study, with Chen Wenzhi occasionally going out to cut some fruit and bring it in.
It's very comfortable.
Not long after, Chen Wenzhi received a call from his father, who said that his grandmother had broken her leg and was hospitalized in the provincial hospital, and asked him to go and see her.
Ying Qian saw that his face was visibly pale and didn't know how to comfort him, so she sat in the chair anxiously.
He patted Ying Qian on the shoulder and comforted her instead, "Don't worry about me, I'm fine, I'll message you no matter what."
Ying Qian nodded blankly.
Immediately, Chen Wenzhi strode out of the study.
"Chen Wenzhi!" she suddenly called out to him.
Chen Wenzhi turned around and smiled back, "What's wrong?"
"be safe."
"good."
Watching his departing figure, Ying Qian was stunned, her eyes filled with confusion.
Besides Chen Wenzhi, who else is she?
The curtains in the study were tightly closed, and the bright light from the desk lamp illuminated the entire room.
"..."
"Ring ring ring—"
She picked up her phone, saw the contact name, and answered the call.
"Ying Qian, I received your father's wedding invitation. Your train leaves at 8 PM tonight. Pack your things; you'll probably be staying in Qincheng for a few days."
"Okay, I understand."
"...Don't you have anything to ask?" the man asked in a deep voice.
Ying Qian sneered, "What could I possibly have to ask?"
After a short conversation, Meng Beiyan hung up the phone, citing work as the reason.
Meng Beiyan has been very busy lately, and I guess he's taken leave again.
She always had to trouble him… Ying Qian clenched the hem of her clothes and ran to pack her clothes.
Around evening, Chen Wenzhi sent a message saying that he had arrived at the hospital and that his grandmother was fine. She had just broken a bone, but her head was fine and her life was not in danger.
Ying Qian breathed a sigh of relief.
I messaged him saying, "I'm going back to Qincheng tonight."
The person on the other end seemed to know everything, quickly replying, "Okay, leave the key in the usual place. I'll take care of your succulents."
A faint smile appeared on Ying Qian's face as she tapped her fingers on the screen.
[It's not for that reason.]
Prince: [Once things are settled with my grandmother, I'll come to Qincheng to see you, okay?]
Ying Qian: [Oh no, Meng Beiyan will be going with me.]
Prince, feel free to message or call me if you need anything. I'm always available.
Ying Qian held her phone tightly to her chest, her heart pounding wildly.
He always gives you a sense of security, that's for sure.
Before long, Ying Qian finally packed all her luggage into her suitcase. Shen Yun arrived at this moment, her nose red from the cold, holding a large bunch of flowers in her hands.
