Chapter 116 Dislike

"Alright, alright, go to evening self-study when you're supposed to, otherwise your mean-spirited homeroom teacher will tease you again and start asking about your private life." Ying Qian pushed him.

“I’m not in a hurry.” Chen Wenzhi suddenly felt that it didn’t matter whether or not to attend this perfunctory evening self-study session. “You don’t seem to be in a good mood. To be honest, I feel helpless and worried…”

The girl pointed to herself with her index finger. "Do I look haggard?"

She'd probably be shocked if she saw the dark circles under her eyes.

Chen Wenzhi raised his hand and smoothed her hair. His cold fingertips touched her earlobe, and she trembled involuntarily. "Why are your hands so cold?"

"You know my hands are cold, aren't you going to let me in to sit down?" He grabbed Ying Qian's wrist with his other hand.

Ying Qian looked up, slightly speechless.

"Please, please, please!"

What do you want to eat tomorrow?

The two snuggled on the sofa, Chen Wenzhi holding Ying Qian in his arms, where she curled up into a small ball.

"I want to eat everything," Ying Qian muttered.

"..." Chen Wenzhi nuzzled her cheek, his voice tinged with amusement, "You want to eat everything? Then I don't know what to cook to make you happy."

As soon as he finished speaking, Ying Qian rolled over and pressed herself against him, burying her head in his chest. "As long as you're here, I'll always be happy, Chen Wenzhi."

"That's great." Chen Wenzhi knew she must have dropped another little pearl.

She hasn't been in a good mood lately.

When she looked up, her eyes were indeed filled with tears, and I wiped them away with my fingertips.

"You've turned into a crybaby again." Chen Wenzhi sighed, patted her back to help her catch her breath, and saw her with snot and tears streaming down her face, which made people feel sorry for her.

Inside the guest room, Meng Beiyan breathed heavily, listening to the faint sobs coming from the doorway. He longed to break free of his shackles and rush out of that door, so that they would never be siblings again.

No matter what others say, he only wants Ying Qian, he only wants Ying Qian, he wants to take her away, take her abroad, and tell her the whole truth about her mother.

The inner struggle was incredibly intense.

"Chen Wenzhi, what will happen to us in the future?" she asked softly.

Chen Wenzhi's smile widened, a faint and unreal smile. He ruffled Ying Qian's hair. "What can we do? It'll just be a long-term relationship."

"A steady, continuous flow?"

"Yes, the simple things in life, like firewood, rice, oil, salt, and a steady stream of water." He gently pinched Ying Qian's cheek. "Let's live a good life together. Whatever you want, I'll give you. If you want the stars in the sky, I'll pluck them down for you... okay?"

Ying Qian knew he was joking, so she gently pinched his nose, her eyes red-rimmed, and sniffed a few times before saying, "Who taught you to make empty promises to me?"

"I wasn't just making empty promises." Chen Wenzhi held Ying Qian's hand in his. "I'm serious, I just want to make you happy."

"Happy, definitely happy."

Ying Qian snuggled against him playfully, pressing her hands against his waist, and pouted at him, "My lips are so dry, I'm thinking of going to pick out a lip balm, would you like to come with me to take a look if you have time?"

Without hesitation, Chen Wenzhi pressed his lips to hers.

After a long pause, he said, "Buy, pick the good ones."

Ying Qian's cheeks flushed even more, and she gave him a kiss on his dimple. "What should I do, Chen Wenzhi? I'm liking you more and more. What if I can't live without you?"

"Then we won't leave, we won't separate."

His affectionate gaze lingered on Ying Qian, as if he wanted to give her his whole heart and soul, his sparkling eyes surrounding her.

"It's a pinky promise, right?" Ying Qian stretched out her little finger and grinned.

"childish."

"Pinky promise." Chen Wenzhi wrapped one arm around her waist and hooked his other hand around Ying Qian's little finger. "Never to change, not for a hundred years, not for ten thousand years."

Ying Qian laughed foolishly, "Didn't you say it was childish?"

"You're so childish, just like me."

The next morning, Ying Qian woke up already in bed. The orange curtains cast a sunset glow over the room, even though the sun was high in the sky.

Ying Qian covered her eyes with her hand, her head feeling dizzy.

Sitting in front of the mirror, I thought, "Why are my under-eye bags so swollen? It looks like they've been filled with water... It's terrifying, so scary!"

Looking at my dry lips, I vaguely remembered last night.

She rushed into the kitchen, and there in the refrigerator was the cake Chen Wenzhi had snatched. It was real after all; it wasn't a dream...

The phone next to me rang.

Ying Qian knew who it was without even having to guess.

Chen Wenzhi: [Are you awake? Reply if you are. I made you breakfast.]

Ying Qian smiled slightly. [You're awake. Breakfast will be ready soon.]

She walked to the guest room door, but hesitated for a long time before knocking, her heart filled with mixed feelings and deep hesitation.

"Awake?" The man came out of the bathroom. "What would you like to eat? Do you want me to make you something?"

Ying Qian waved her hand, "No need, I'll go downstairs to eat."

Meng Beiyan looked slightly dejected, but he didn't say much, nodding to indicate that he understood.

Even after Ying Qian finished washing up and went out, his gaze remained fixed on her back. The child had grown up, but she wasn't close to her family anymore.

He joked about himself.

Although Ying Qian cannot be considered a family member.

He slumped onto the sofa, wearily swiping his phone. He deleted over a dozen missed calls from Tang Ya-wen, deciding to avoid seeing them altogether.

He closed his eyes, which were unbearably dry, and before he knew it, he had drifted into a light sleep.

"elder brother?"

When Ying Qian opened her eyes again, she saw a bowl of steaming hot wontons on the coffee table.

"Did you wrap this?"

"Okay." Ying Qian nodded. "Eat quickly, it won't taste good if it gets cold."

It sounds a bit like an adult ordering a child around.

Meng Beiyan vaguely felt that she had really grown up, and his possessiveness grew stronger. He hugged her from behind, and their disordered breathing mingled together.

"Be with me... Ying Qian."

"Okay, brother, we'll be together forever."

He awoke from his dream to find the snow still falling outside the window, while the house was empty and completely silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. He couldn't help but chuckle.

A dream is just a dream.

It can only ever be a dream...

Not long after I returned, the door opened.

Ying Qian packed a serving of fried rice and placed it on the coffee table. "Do you want some fried rice? If you don't want any, I'll make you something else."

Seeing her nose as red as a strawberry, Meng Beiyan felt a sudden urge to tease her. He lowered his voice, subtly raised his chin, and looked up at the stunned Ying Qian, "Who am I?"

"You are... my brother?"

"Um."

The conversation did not continue.

Ying Qian made an excuse to do her homework and went to the study.

Meng Beiyan took a deep breath, feeling inexplicably choked up.
