Extra 3: Meng Beiyan

After Ying Qian got married, Meng Beiyan decided to go abroad.

But Ying Qian said, "Brother, if you leave, I will have no family left."

One sentence, just one sentence from her, is enough to win them back.

So he opened a law firm in Kyoto. Luckily, not long after the firm opened, the graduate student dormitory of Kyoto University was moved to a nearby location.

One evening.

"Ying Qian! Have you had dinner yet?" Meng Beiyan ran into Ying Qian as he came out of his client's house.

Okay, he admits that he took a detour to this place and bumped into it by chance.

Ying Qian said goodbye to her classmates and greeted them with a smile.

"I haven't eaten yet, are you going to treat me?"

Meng Beiyan pursed his thin lips. "Of course."

She said she's been busy lately and doesn't have much time; sometimes she even has classes in the evenings.

Dinner was served at a local specialty restaurant next to the law firm.

"How are things between you and him lately?" Meng Beiyan asked.

Ying Qian laughed: "What else can we do but live our lives quietly?"

He pondered for a long time before saying, "If he treats you badly, you must tell me."

Upon hearing this, Ying Qian was stunned. No one had ever said this before since she got married. Perhaps only family members would have the confidence to say such a thing.

In a sense, they were already family.

During the meal, Meng Beiyan got drunk. Ying Qian, who didn't drink alcohol at the time, toasted him with her beverage again and again.

"Ying Qian... if we could do it all over again, if you hadn't met Chen Wenzhi, would you have said yes to me?"

"……meeting."

While drunk, he heard Ying Qian making a phone call; her voice was very gentle.

He thought: If only I had been by your side back then.

It's too late to say all this now.

She was already married, and it was Meng Beiyan who personally handed over the woman he loved.

Is it wrong?

He asked himself.

He sat in the back seat of the car. The man in the driver's seat had long lost his youthful naiveté and had become much more composed. What hadn't changed was the person he loved.

He couldn't quite recognize the person in the passenger seat either.

"I was your driver today, I want a kiss when I get home~"

The woman laughed and scolded playfully, "Are you trying to kill me? Why are you being so coy?"

Chen Wenzhi smiled broadly, "Didn't you say that men should know how to be charming..."

"I really can't do anything with you."

"I'm busy with my mentor's projects every day, and I don't have time to spend with you."

"Why are you keeping me company? Focus on your work and make money!" Ying Qian sighed, "We still need to plan for the future."

Chen Wenzhi agreed, "For example, having another family member?"

"...How did you know?"

"I saw the medical report," Chen Wenzhi said, beaming from ear to ear. "I've already thought of a name for the child!"

"Tsk, you're always being indecent."

"Your husband is a great homemaker! You've struck gold!"

Ying Qian rolled her eyes at him, "You didn't pick it up, you clearly chased after it."

Inside the car, the couple laughed and chatted happily.

...

When I woke up, the client had just sent a message.

Meng Beiyan rubbed his temples, thinking about what he had overheard in the car last night.

He's going to be an uncle...

In the blink of an eye, the little girl who used to be so naive now has her own child.

But he was still alone.

What can one person do? He thinks being alone is fine.

He never expected that at the age of thirty-five, he would accept a suitor's advances.

They had a whirlwind marriage and went on their honeymoon immediately after the wedding. Because the Chen couple were quite busy with work, they helped take care of the child for a while after returning from their honeymoon.

The child looked like his mother. Looking at the sleeping child, he suddenly sighed, "It's good that he looks like his mother..."
