Xiao Ning slowly opened his eyes, and the scene in front of him made him feel dazed. He found himself standing beside a busy road, with cars and people coming and going. The shrill horns and noisy voices intertwined like a chaotic symphony.
Xiao Ning looked around blankly, trying to sort out his thoughts. His eyes were confused and helpless. He walked to a glass and looked at himself carefully. His face was covered with dark circles, his skin was slightly pale, and he looked a little tired. He was wearing a slightly bloated coat and a computer backpack on his back. The heavy weight made his shoulders slightly bent.
Xiao Ning narrowed his eyes slightly, his heart full of doubts: "Is this a dream? Or is that world a dream?" He tried to recall his previous experience, but there was only a blurry image in his mind. He felt a splitting headache, as if countless thoughts were entangled in his mind.
At this moment, a rapid ring suddenly sounded, breaking his meditation. Xiao Ning frantically searched for his phone in his pocket, finally found it and quickly answered the call. There was a barrage of abuse from the other end of the phone. Xiao Ning lowered his head and apologized to the other party in a low and hoarse voice, with a hint of helplessness and grievance.
Afterwards, he jogged to the station and boarded a bus back to the company. The bus was packed with people, and Xiao Ning was squeezed into a corner, his body shaking with the bumps of the vehicle. He held the handrail tightly, staring out the window with a dull look. The scenery outside the window passed by quickly, but he had no intention of appreciating it.
When Xiao Ning returned to the company, he saw a mountain of documents on his desk waiting to be processed. He had no time to think about anything else and immediately threw himself into work. His fingers were typing quickly on the keyboard, his eyes were focused and determined. He did not complain at all, but just worked hard silently, hoping to complete the work as soon as possible.
He was busy all day, not daring to stop for a moment. As night fell, the clock pointed to ten o'clock in the evening. Xiao Ning rubbed his sore eyelids, turned off the computer, and clocked out. Today, he worked overtime for another four hours. After leaving the company, he dragged his tired body to a small restaurant and ordered a bowl of rice with toppings and a bottle of cold Coke. He ate voraciously, as if to fill the emptiness and fatigue in his heart.
After dinner, Xiao Ning had to catch the last bus home. He hurried to the station and just caught the last bus. There were not many people on the bus, so Xiao Ning found a seat by the window, closed his eyes, and let his mind go for a while.
After returning to the rental house, he tiredly put down his backpack and fell directly on the bed. At this moment, he felt the taste of being alive, a heavy and real feeling. Soon, he fell into a deep sleep...
Ding Ling Ling~Ding Ling Ling~
The alarm clock rang again, waking Xiao Ning from his sleep. He rubbed his sleepy eyes, got up from the bed in a daze, and mechanically completed a series of morning actions as usual: brushing teeth, washing face, getting dressed, carrying a backpack, and then going out to work. A new day began like this.
When he arrived at the company, his boss had prepared a long lecture. Xiao Ning sat there, forcing himself to stay awake, but in fact he was dozing off and didn't really listen to every word his boss said.
Next, it was busy work day after day. Xiao Ning sat silently at his desk, concentrating on processing various tasks and documents. Time passed quickly and the day passed quickly.
In the evening, Xiao Ning dragged his tired body to the small fly restaurant again. He ordered another bowl of rice and a bottle of Coke. After the meal, he hurried to the bus station and took the last bus home.
After returning home, Xiao Ning fell asleep and prepared to face the repetitive life of the next day. It seemed that everything was pre-planned and he was not allowed to deviate from the track. There was only work, sleep and eating in his mind, nothing else.
Another day, Xiao Ning was woken up by the alarm clock again. He quickly got up, completed all the actions as usual, and then went to the company. As soon as he arrived at the company, his boss started a long lecture, and then there was a pile of busy work waiting for him to deal with...
Xiao Ning's mind was filled with various things, and he had no time to think about other problems. The memories of Xiuxian Continent, Master, Aunt and Aunt seemed to become distant and unreal, as if they were just a dream in his mind.
After busy work day after day, he finally completely forgot the bizarre experience in his mind.
One day, Xiao Ning was at work when he suddenly received a call. The note on the screen was "Mom". He walked to the bathroom without hesitation and answered the phone, whispering, "Mom!"
A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, and there was a hint of concern and warmth in that voice. "Ning'er! Are you busy with work recently?"
Xiao Ning shook his head. Although the other party couldn't see it, he still did this action subconsciously. There was a trace of fatigue in his eyes, but his voice was still gentle: "Not tired, Mom, are you feeling better?"
"Well, much better. Will you come back on Labor Day? I have prepared a lot of mutton dumplings that you like." Mother's voice was full of anticipation.
Xiao Ning felt a little embarrassed. He frowned, hesitated for a moment, and said, "I'm sorry, Mom, the company offers triple salary, so..."
The mother behind the phone paused for a moment, then said happily: "It's okay, I know you young people are under a lot of pressure in big cities, and it just so happens that I have time on Labor Day, I'll take a bus to find you!"
