"Father, I want to talk to you about mother."
Xiao Ning's tone was extremely serious, and his eyes were fixed on Xiao Ding, as if he wanted to see his father's true thoughts through his father's eyes.
However, when Xiao Ding heard this, the expression on his face instantly became solemn, and the originally relaxed atmosphere froze at this moment. He slowly put down the chopsticks in his hand, raised his head, and looked at Xiao Ning, revealing a trace of helplessness and pain in his eyes.
"Ning'er, I know what you want to say. Your mother...is too dependent on you."
Xiao Ding's voice was low and hoarse, as if every word carried endless weight. After hearing this, Xiao Ning nodded slightly, with a firm light flashing in his eyes.
"Father, no matter how much my mother is your first wife, you are her husband, and you should handle the emotional issues with my mother. I can't get entangled with my mother like this anymore, she is becoming more and more dependent on me! I'm afraid..."
Having said this, Xiao Ning suddenly stopped talking. His throat seemed to be blocked by something and he couldn't continue speaking.
Xiao Ding narrowed his eyes slightly, he sighed deeply, and then said:
"I understand, Ning'er, I understand everything. But I am really disappointed with your mother. I have lived with your mother for more than 30 years. I love your mother, but I also hate her. She killed your aunt Song's only child and caused her to lose her fertility. This is the thing I cannot forgive her for the most.
Xiao Ding's voice gradually became lower, and his eyes revealed deep pain and sadness.
Xiao Ning was filled with emotion when he heard his father's words. He tightly grasped his clothes, as if trying to suppress his excitement. His lips trembled slightly, and he wanted to say something, but he didn't know how to start.
"Father, I know that mother has done many wrong things. I understand that I am not qualified to ask you to forgive mother. This is your business after all, but I am mother's child. I can't watch her go on like this!"
Xiao Ning's voice was tinged with tears, his tears welled up in his eyes, but he tried hard not to let them fall.
After saying that, Xiao Ning stood up suddenly and knelt on the ground without hesitation. His knees hit the hard ground heavily, making a crisp sound.
"Father, please help my mother! Even if your relationship with her is irreparable, you can't just watch her go on like this!"
Xiao Ning's voice echoed in the air, full of pleading and earnestness.
Xiao Ding looked at Xiao Ning who was kneeling on the ground, his heart filled with pity and pain. He turned his head, his eyes showing endless sorrow, as if the whole world had frozen at this moment.
The father and son just faced each other quietly like this. Time seemed to have stopped flowing between them and they fell into a long and heavy silence.
Finally, Song Junwan walked in with firm steps. Her eyes revealed concern and heartache. Seeing Xiao Ning kneeling for a long time, she hurried forward to help him up.
"Ning'er, what are you doing!" There was a hint of anxiety and blame in Song Junwan's voice.
Xiao Ning slowly raised his head and looked at Song Junwan, his eyes full of guilt and helplessness. He finally kowtowed to her and said, "Aunt Song, I'm sorry. I don't know how to make amends for what my mother did to you. I'm willing to serve Aunt Song like a slave for the rest of my life. I only ask you to persuade my father! Help my mother!"
Song Junwan looked at Xiao Ning who was kowtowed to her, and tears immediately flowed from her eyes like a flood. Her heart was broken, and she couldn't suppress the sadness in her heart. She also knelt on the ground and hugged Xiao Ning tightly in her arms, as if she wanted to use her warmth to soothe the pain in his heart.
"Ning'er, don't be like this, I..."
Song Junwan's voice was choked with sobs, and she turned her gaze to Xiao Ding beside her, her eyes full of pleading and helplessness.
Xiao Ding sat aside, his body trembling slightly, his eyes flashing with complex emotions. Years of resentment and pain intertwined in his heart, making it difficult for him to let go. However, looking at the scene in front of him, a ripple surged in his heart.
Song Junwan continued, "Xiao Ding! Don't do this anymore! It's been so many years since this happened, and I haven't made a fuss about it. Why can't you just let it go?"
There was a hint of anger and disappointment in her voice, but it also revealed her deep concern for Xiao Ding.
Xiao Ding silently looked at Song Junwan and Xiao Ning, as if two forces were fighting fiercely in his heart. His eyes revealed endless pain and struggle, as if he was fighting the devil in his heart. He knew that the resentment in his heart was like a double-edged sword, which not only hurt others, but also deeply hurt himself.
Time passed by minute by minute, and Xiao Ding finally stood up slowly. His movements seemed a little heavy, as if he was carrying the weight of the whole world. He did not go forward to help Xiao Ning up, which was his last dignity as a father. He took steps silently, and every step seemed to be stepping on his heart, which was unbearable.
Xiao Ning listened to the sound of his father leaving, and his body gradually relaxed. He buried his head deeply in Song Junwan's chest, as if looking for the last warmth and comfort.
He bit his lips tightly, trying not to cry out loud, but the tears kept flowing like a flood.
Song Junwan looked at Xiao Ning distressedly, her eyes blurred with tears. She gently stroked Xiao Ning's head, constantly comforting him:
"Ning'er, don't be sad, Aunt Song will help you and will always be with you..."
After a long time, Xiao Ning finally stood up. His steps were unsteady and he seemed like he might fall at any time. He slowly returned to his room. As soon as he entered the room, he saw Xiyue and Youniang sitting at the table beside him, staring at Honghong who was eating.
