"Let me pick up Ning'er."
Yun Yao suddenly spoke, her voice clear and firm, as if this was an unquestionable decision.
Hearing this, Xiao Ning and Xia Ling were both stunned, and their eyes fell on Yun Yao at the same time. Yun Yao was holding Xiao Ning's wrist tightly, with a serious look on her face that could not be ignored.
After a moment of silence, Xiao Ning was the first to come back to his senses. He laughed awkwardly and said to Xia Ling, "Hey, Junior Sister, there's no need. I'll let Senior Sister take care of it."
As he spoke, Xiao Ning gently pulled his hand out of Xia Ling's, and then quickly walked to Yun Yao's side. A gentle smile appeared on his face, and the look he gave Yun Yao was full of trust and dependence.
"Let's go, senior sister." Xiao Ning's voice was soft and low, with a hint of intimacy.
Yun Yao responded with a smile, looking at him with tender eyes, and then turned around to leave. At this moment, Xia Ling suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of loss. She looked at the backs of Xiao Ning and Yun Yao, and felt that the atmosphere between them was extremely harmonious, but she felt like an outsider.
However, Xia Ling did not let this emotion last too long. She quickly adjusted her mentality, summoned her sword, stepped lightly onto the sword, and flew after him.
In the sky, Yun Yao was flying like a fairy, stepping lightly on her sword, her posture was graceful and elegant. Xiao Ning was hugging her waist tightly, his body trembling slightly. He closed his eyes tightly, as if he didn't dare to look at the scene below.
Yun Yao could feel the slight tremor coming from Xiao Ning. She couldn't help but smile slightly, secretly sighing in her heart: It turns out that my junior brother is still afraid of heights.
She slightly adjusted her breathing and body posture to make herself more stable. Then, she freed her left hand and tightly grasped Xiao Ning's hands on her waist.
Xiao Ning immediately felt the pressure on the back of his hand. His heartbeat quickened a bit. He asked nervously:
"Senior Sister, I..."
However, before he could finish his words, Yun Yao gently interrupted him: "It's okay, Ning'er, Senior Sister is here and won't let you fall."
Yun Yao's voice was firm yet gentle, like a spring breeze, gently brushing past Xiao Ning's ears. This voice made him feel extremely relieved, and at the same time, the uneasiness in his heart gradually dissipated.
Xiao Ning quietly felt the warmth of Yun Yao's palm, and that warmth was like a clear spring, slowly flowing into his heart. And the faint body fragrance coming from Yun Yao made him unconsciously lean his body slightly towards Yun Yao, wanting to get closer to her.
The speed of the flight was very high, which not only required the sword pilot to have superb skills, but also put a great test on their physical strength. After flying for about two hours, the sun gradually set and night began to fall.
The three of them finally arrived above a village. Yun Yao looked down at the village below, then turned to Xia Ling and said:
"Xia Ling, let's stop here first."
Xia Ling nodded and slowly lowered the long sword. As the long sword fell, a slight cyclone arose on the ground, but it soon returned to calm.
The long sword landed safely on the ground. Yun Yao gently patted the back of Xiao Ning's hand, indicating that he could let go.
Xiao Ning opened one eye first, and when he was sure that what he saw was not the sky, he opened both eyes completely. He loosened his hands, and when he stepped on the solid ground, he felt the sense of security brought by the center of gravity, which made him feel relieved.
Xia Ling ran to Xiao Ning, patted him on the back and joked.
"Ning'er, you have to overcome your fear of heights, otherwise what are you going to do when you go on missions alone in the future?"
Xiao Ning shyly touched the back of his head with his hand and explained.
"I will try my best to overcome..."
Yun Yao saw that he looked shy and didn't say much. He put away his sword and motioned for the two of them to go into the village first. After Xiao Ning and Xia Ling calmed down, they followed.
When I arrived at the village, I thought that at this time of year, there should be smoke rising from every chimney, but upon closer inspection, that was not the case. What was even more strange was that there was not even a single person on the road!
This inevitably made the three of them feel a little strange. Under normal circumstances, in the evening, even if the people had gone home early, it would not be so deserted. A trace of uneasiness flashed through Yun Yao's heart, and she stretched out her arm to signal the two to be careful.
Xiao Ning looked around, and at this moment, a flash of light flashed in his eyes, and a dagger with a cold glow suddenly flew towards the direction of several people.
At the critical moment, Xiao Ning reacted immediately and pushed Xia Ling away, thus avoiding this terrible attack.
"who!"
Xiao Ning took defensive action and shouted around, but in this empty village, there was no response and the whole place was plunged into a tense atmosphere for a moment.
At this time, a sound was heard on Xia Ling's right, like the sound of someone stepping on a dry branch, and suddenly a black shadow flashed by quickly.
“Don’t run!”
Xiao Ning immediately caught sight of this situation. Without saying a word, he rushed over, shouting as he chased. Yun Yao and Xia Ling followed closely behind him.
The three followed the black shadow out of the village and walked towards a forest. When Yun Yao saw this, she shouted to Xiao Ning.
"Ning'er, be careful! Don't chase too deep!"
However, Xiao Ning seemed not to have heard and just kept chasing after her. Yun Yao felt that she could not persuade him any more, so she looked at Xia Ling and walked in together.
The night was as dark as ink, falling quietly, and the forest seemed to be covered by a huge black hand, and instantly fell into darkness. In this endless darkness, a chase was taking place fiercely.
