Chapter 84: Falling into Illusion

Ning Que had been wandering around the yard these days, secretly observing their every move. Through these days of observation, Ning Que had a general understanding of Mu Yanran's situation. It turned out that this illusion was her past, and that man was her brother Mu Qiuyu, as well as her sister-in-law and nephew.

Ning Que also learned from the system that the illusion was created by the people and things that the trial-taker cherished most. If the trial-taker was constantly immersed in it, they would not be able to complete the inheritance and might even fall into a deep sleep forever.

However, Ning Que was not aware of the tragic situation in reality where Mu Qiuyu's family was exterminated, so he did not know how to deal with the situation. He could not help but regret: "I should have asked Sister Yue about what happened in advance! What should I do now!" Should I ask Mu Yanran directly?

Ning Que felt a surge of irritation, realizing that he always got into trouble because he was not fully prepared.

At this moment, Ning Que suddenly looked up, as if he had thought of a solution.

"I remember now. Aunt Song taught me a secret technique that can peek into other people's memories. I have a way!"

One morning, the sun was shining brightly and the breeze was blowing. Mu Yanran walked out of the house alone, enjoying the rare peace and freedom. However, she did not notice Ning Que following closely behind her.

Ning Que followed silently, keeping a certain distance. His eyes were always fixed on Mu Yanran, as if waiting for something. When they came to the entrance of an empty alley, Ning Que suddenly quickened his pace, and his figure flashed and appeared in front of Mu Yanran.

Mu Yanran was frightened by Ning Que's sudden appearance and was about to scream, but Ning Que quickly stretched out a hand and chopped her neck with a knife. Mu Yanran fainted instantly and fell limply into Ning Que's arms.

Ning Que gently supported Mu Yanran, pointed his finger at her forehead, and silently recited a mysterious formula. In an instant, a strange power emerged, and the memories in Mu Yanran's mind poured into Ning Que's mind like a tide.

Picture after picture appeared before Ning Que's eyes:

Mu Yanran and Mu Qiuyu lived in poverty and suffered a lot in their childhood. They grew up tenaciously until their brother got married and had children, and the family finally ushered in a brief peace. However, fate was unfortunate. The bullies in the city coveted her beauty, and her brother's family was killed. Mu Yanran almost became a plaything in the hands of others. If Su Yue hadn't appeared in time to save her, the consequences would be self-evident...

Seeing these memories, Ning Que's heart seemed to be stabbed by a sharp blade. He couldn't imagine that Mu Yanran had suffered such a tragic experience. He gently stroked Mu Yanran's hair, with a hint of determination in his eyes.

Ning Que carefully picked up Mu Yanran and walked towards Mu Qiuyu's home with firm steps. When he arrived at the door, he knocked gently. It was Mu Qiuyu's sister-in-law who opened the door. She looked at the unconscious Mu Yanran in her arms with an anxious look on her face and immediately called out to her husband.

Soon, Mu Qiuyu ran out from the yard. Seeing Ning Que holding Mu Yanran, she looked nervous and hurriedly asked him to come into the house.

Ning Que carried Mu Yanran into the house and carefully placed her on the bed. He turned to look at Mu Qiuyu and his wife and began to explain:

"Just now on the road, this girl fell to the ground for no apparent reason. I happened to see her, so I went door to door to ask around. I learned that she lived here, so I sent her back."

Mu Qiuyu quickly bowed and thanked:

"Sir, please send my sister back!"

As he said this, he quickly took out a silver ingot from his pocket and handed it to Ning Que, but Ning Que waved his hand and refused:

"No need to do that. It's just a small favor. Now that it's delivered, I'll leave first."

Mu Qiuyu hurriedly stopped Ning Que and said:

"Sir, please don't refuse. If you don't want to accept the money, please stay and have a simple meal before leaving."

After that, he told his wife to go to the kitchen to cook, and said he would go get some good wine to entertain Ning Que. Seeing this, Ning Que no longer refused, smiled and agreed, sitting on the stool in the room waiting.

Time passed slowly. After an unknown amount of time, Mu Yanran woke up slowly on the bed. She opened her eyes and looked at the unfamiliar environment around her with some confusion, trying hard to recall what had happened before.

At this time, Ning Que asked softly: "Girl, do you feel better?"

Hearing Ning Que's voice, Mu Yanran turned around and looked at Ning Que suspiciously. She always felt that the person in front of her seemed somewhat familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him.

Ning Que knew that he had cast a spell just now to erase the memory of their meeting, leaving only the scene of Mu Yanran fainting inexplicably. In this way, Mu Yanran would naturally not have too much doubt about him.

At this moment, the door was pushed open, and Mu Qiuyu walked in with wine. When he saw that Mu Yanran had woken up, he showed surprise on his face, and hurried to the bedside and asked with concern: "Xiao Ran, you finally woke up! How do you feel? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Mu Yanran shook her head, indicating that she was fine. Mu Qiuyu then felt relieved and told her that she had fainted on the way and it was Ning Que who sent her back.

Mu Yanran followed her brother's gaze and looked at Ning Que. She could not help but feel an inexplicable sense of familiarity in her heart, which made her feel very confused. She quickly bowed to Ning Que and said gratefully: "Thank you, sir! What is your name? I will definitely repay you when I have the chance in the future!"

Ning Que smiled and waved his hand, saying, "Miss, you don't have to be polite. My name is Ning Que."

Seeing that the food was ready, Mu Qiuyu warmly invited Ning Que to dine with her, and took out the fine wine that she had collected for many years to drink with Ning Que. The two chatted while drinking, and the atmosphere was harmonious and they had a great time. After the meal, Ning Que said goodbye to Mu Qiuyu, and before leaving, he once again told Mu Yanran to have a good rest. Mu Yanran looked at Ning Que's back as he left, and a different emotion rose in her heart. She felt that this man was very familiar but she couldn't remember him.
