Chapter 6

Chapter 6

After the exam, Jiang Zhinian walked out of the classroom.

I don't know when it started outside, but snowflakes have already started falling.

The school, which was always bustling, has suddenly become very quiet, and there are no children playing on the playground.

The feeling of loneliness in the wilderness suddenly hit Jiang Zhinian.

She is like a snowflake between heaven and earth, falling alone on the ground forever, and silently turning into a drop of water in a corner where no one knows.

She stretched out her hand and gently placed it on her stomach through her clothes.

It seems like you are still with me.

But how long can you stay with me?

She sighed, went back to the office, took out the cell phone locked in the drawer, and found that Shi Ye had sent her a message fifteen minutes ago.

"I'll wait for you at the school gate."

Jiang Zhinian immediately packed up his things and rushed to the school gate.

Shi Ye was standing against the wall not far from the gate. When he saw Jiang Zhinian running out, he stepped forward to support her.

"During the first three months, it's best not to run."

Jiang Zhinian panted and explained, "I didn't run away. I just saw you and was afraid you'd be waiting anxiously, so..."

"It's okay, I'm not in a hurry."

Jiang Zhinian nodded, looked around, and asked him, "Do you have something to talk to me about?"

Shi Ye saw the snowflakes falling on her head and asked her, "Would you like to have lunch together?"

Jiang Zhinian had a feeling that he had something to say to her, so she nodded: "Okay, where should we go to eat?"

"Let's go to your house."

It was the first time that Jiang Zhinian brought a man back to her home, and she felt very awkward as soon as she entered the door.

"My house is a mess..."

Shi Ye glanced at the living room and found that the house was a one-bedroom apartment. It was not big, but very clean and tidy, and it felt like home.

On the coffee table in front of the sofa, there is an opened box of folic acid, and it seems that he is taking it seriously.

He put the ingredients he bought downstairs into the kitchen.

"Salmon pasta for lunch, okay?" He washed his hands carefully and pretended to cook. "I don't know how to cook much, but the food is pretty good."

Jiang Zhinian was a little dumbfounded: "How about I do it?"

Shi Ye checked the seasonings on the table and said, "No need. I told you I'll treat you to dinner."

Jiang Zhinian stood outside the kitchen for a while, at a loss, and was then driven by Shi Ye to sit in the living room.

"You've been standing all morning. Go take a rest. I'll call you later."

Because the kitchen was very small, Jiang Zhinian couldn't squeeze in to help, so she had to obediently return to her room. She originally wanted to change into her usual home clothes, but when she thought of Shi Ye at home, she felt that it seemed impolite.

In the end, she had no choice but to change into a new sweater she had bought a few days ago. It was light yellow and made her skin look very white.

Shi Ye’s cooking is actually very organized and entertaining. It’s like there is an AI in his head that can do precise calculations, knowing what to wash first, what to cut later, which steps can be done at the same time, and which steps are connected.

Every step was calculated perfectly, without wasting a second. With his meticulous arrangements, the meal was on the table in twenty minutes.

The heater was on in the living room, snowflakes were floating outside the window, and under the dim light, the food on the table was steaming.

A sense of warmth is quietly surging.

"Salmon is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, and pasta is a high-quality staple food that won't raise your blood sugar too much and burden your body. Green vegetables and peas can provide you with the fiber and vitamins you need every day."

Shi Ye is a very good orator. For some reason, what comes out of his mouth makes people believe it inexplicably and unable to refute it.

Jiang Zhinian is actually a pretty good cook, but what he eats every day depends on his mood. He has never considered the scientific and nutritional ratios like Shi Ye.

"He's a doctor indeed. He feels so scientific."

"Try it."

Jiang Zhinian didn't have a knife and fork at home, so Shi Ye asked her to roll the pasta with chopsticks.

"tasty."

Jiang Zhinian said honestly that she had never thought that Shi Ye could cook, and that he could cook so deliciously.

Shi Ye only curled his lips slightly when he received the praise.

He took out his phone and fiddled with it a few times: "Should I transfer the compensation I promised you via WeChat or to your bank account?"

The smile on Jiang Zhinian's face froze instantly, as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on his head in the middle of winter, and he suddenly woke up from his false fantasy.

At a certain moment just now, she seemed to feel a sense of "home".

Three meals a day, lights of the world.

But this feeling does not actually belong to her, she stole it.

I frantically picked up my phone and covered my face with it, but I didn't know how to answer.

She actually wanted to say that she didn't need any compensation.

But when the words came to my lips, they turned into -

“WeChat is fine.”

Because at a certain shameful moment, she realized that giving money might be Shi Ye's way of drawing a line between them.

As long as the financial compensation is in place, he may not feel guilty.

If that were the case, her refusal would seem somewhat inappropriate.

It just makes everyone embarrassed.

When the payment arrived, Jiang Zhinian took a glance and was instantly surprised.

"Why, why are there so many..."

She had heard before that Shi Ye had applied for grants and loans in addition to the highest level scholarship at school.

His family shouldn't be very wealthy.

Shi Ye put the phone aside: "Don't worry about me having no food to eat."

Jiang Zhinian's hands trembled a little: "Too, too much, there's no need for so much, actually..."

Shi Ye put down the chopsticks in his hand and said seriously: "Abortion is very harmful to a woman's body. I hope you can understand that your body is far more meaningful than this money."

Jiang Zhinian suppressed the sadness in his heart and nodded.

The rest of the meal was eaten in silence.

Shi Ye had good dining manners, with a gentlemanly elegance, his gray eyes lowered, and he always kept a polite distance from everyone.

Like the sky in winter, covered with thick clouds.

Jiang Zhinian had actually always been curious about why his eyes were grey.

It can't be that she's wearing colored contact lenses.

"What are you laughing at?"

Jiang Zhinian was immediately embarrassed when she realized that she couldn't help laughing.

She quickly shook her head: "I just thought of a student who I thought was very cute."

I originally thought Shi Ye wouldn't be interested, but he put down his chopsticks and asked seriously.

"How cute."

Jiang Zhinian had no choice but to improvise a story that happened when she first became a teacher.

At that time, she was teaching first grade. On the first day of class, halfway through the lesson, a little boy suddenly lay on the ground and closed his eyes.

Jiang Zhinian thought he was not feeling well and was shocked.

Finally he said—

"Teacher, I'm sleepy and want to sleep."

Jiang Zhinian didn't know whether to laugh or cry. When he looked up, he saw a little girl taking out a pack of biscuits from her schoolbag.

"Teacher, I want to eat cookies."
