Chapter 164 Zombie Tide

Liu Anran stood by the window, her brows slightly furrowed as she gazed into the distance. Multicolored lights twinkled in the air as she pondered whether she should help Qin Ruixu and do her bit.

Remembering Qin Ruixu's help and care for her, Liu Anran decided to go and see him.

Qin Ruixu stood expressionless on the city wall, looking down at the thousands of zombies swarming towards the wall like waves. He was secretly glad that Liu Anran had reminded him, which allowed him to take preventative measures in advance; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Qin Ruixu directed the soldiers and ability users to take turns defending in an orderly manner. Earth-type and metal-type ability users spared no effort to reinforce the city walls for the safety of their relatives and friends, preventing the zombies from destroying them.

Standing on the high wall, Liu Anran watched wave after wave of zombies, her face showing shock. She never imagined that Bai Lu could gather so many zombies to besiege the capital base; it was far beyond her imagination.

Bai Lu was once human too, so why did she treat humans so cruelly? How could she bear it!

Liu Anran watched with a heavy expression as the zombies relentlessly attacked the capital base, seemingly undeterred by pain. The defending soldiers had to be rotated, and this head-on confrontation couldn't last long. In just half an hour since the zombie horde broke out, the superhumans on the city walls had already undergone a rotation, and sporadic malfunctions had begun to appear in the heavy firepower on the walls.

Tongues of fire licked at the surging zombies, bullets swept across the zombies relentlessly. As one zombie fell, another pounced. Zombies with superpowers and intelligence hid among the horde, occasionally firing sneak attacks that caught the superhumans off guard, causing a surge in casualties and losses for the human side.

Liu Anran frowned, her face filled with worry, watching the soldiers and superhumans being carried away one after another. Some fifteen or sixteen-year-old children even had half their heads corroded away by zombies from a distance. These children should have been growing up carefree and happy under the care of their parents, but now they were sacrificing themselves to protect the base.

A hint of reluctance flashed in Liu Anran's eyes as she looked for Qin Ruixu, who was directing the battle.

When Qin Ruixu saw Liu Anran, a look of surprise appeared on his face. "Why aren't you at home taking care of the children? What are you doing here?"

"I was a little worried about you, so I came to check on you," Liu Anran said with concern.

"I'm fine, you should go back now," Qin Ruixu said.

"I'm not going back," Liu Anran said resolutely.

Qin Ruixu was worried that if they ran around and got hurt by zombies, what would happen to Yunlong and the others? He frowned and said, "It's okay if we don't go back, but we can't just run around."

“I also want to help,” Liu Anran said.

Qin Ruixu looked at Liu Anran thoughtfully.

Wang Ping, Zheng Zhi, Zheng Kai, Zeng Yufan, and others were quite familiar with Liu Anran, and they all came over to greet her.

Liu Anran frowned slightly when she didn't see Chu Yunxiao. In such a serious situation, where did Chu Yunxiao go?

Suddenly, a loud shout rang out from nowhere, the voice carrying a sense of authority. The roars of the zombies, filled with excitement, seemed to be on command, and they launched an attack in one direction in unison. A dozen golden blades and a dozen lightning balls were launched from the zombie horde, concentrating their attack on the same direction. Screams rang out one after another as the superhumans and warriors fell one after another, their eyes filled with sorrow.

Qin Ruixu and Liu Anran's expressions changed drastically; this was troublesome!

Qin Ruixu's mood became heavy as he pondered a solution.

Liu Anran was quite certain that it must have been Bailu who issued the order.

Qin Ruixu suddenly realized that Bai Lu's most hated person was Liu Anran. If Liu Anran were to lure Bai Lu out and then capture and kill her, the zombie horde would be leaderless and much easier to deal with.

"An Ran, I want to give you a task, but it's very dangerous. Are you willing to do it?" Qin Ruixu asked.

Qin Ruixu's words were filled with helplessness, an undeniable sense of refusal, and a hint of reluctance.

Liu Anran looked at Qin Ruixu in silence for a moment, listening to the roars and heart-wrenching screams coming from her ears, and finally nodded in agreement.

"What do you want me to do?" Liu Anran asked.

"I want you to lead an elite team of superpowered individuals to lure out Bai Lu, and then kill her," Qin Ruixu said.

Liu Anran looked at Qin Ruixu with a troubled expression after hearing his words. Bai Lu was the female protagonist in the book, and she had tried to kill her several times without success. Apart from Chu Yunxiao, there shouldn't be anyone who could kill him.

“Qin Ruixu, I can help you lure Bailu out, but I’m not confident I can kill her,” Liu Anran said frankly.

Liu Anran was no ordinary person; she managed to survive well with four children in the apocalypse. Yet, she frankly admitted that she was no match for Bai Lu, which surprised Qin Ruixu.

"Bai Lu always comes out on the losing end when she goes up against you, so how can you think you can't kill her?"

Helpless, Liu Anran leaned close to Qin Ruixu's ear and whispered, "Because she's the female lead and I'm the supporting female character, I can't kill her."

Qin Ruixu was a little confused after hearing Liu Anran's words. What did "female lead" and "female supporting character" mean?
