Liu Anran gripped the dagger tightly against Liu Changqing's neck, her voice icy as she asked, "Can we negotiate now?"
Liu Anran was born into a farming family and did not want to work hard like her parents every day. She studied hard from a young age and worked hard to earn tuition fees. She could wash dishes in restaurants and deliver food under the scorching sun. Now, in order to survive and to avoid being a man's plaything, she is willing to take a desperate gamble and fight to the death.
A man who looked to be about twenty-five or twenty-six years old picked up a pistol and pointed it at Yunlong's head, saying viciously, "Put down the dagger, or I'll kill your son?"
Liu Anran moved her hand, the dagger piercing Liu Changqing's skin, and said coldly, "Kill him! With Liu Changqing to accompany us mother and son in death, what is there to fear?"
The man patted Yunlong on the head and said evilly, "Kid, your mother doesn't know what's good for her, daring to threaten our boss. Don't come looking for me after you die."
Liu Anran sneered, "I think you want to use me to kill Liu Changqing so you can take the position for yourself."
Liu Changqing exuded a cold aura, and his gaze toward his subordinates was hostile.
The man's heart tightened suddenly, and he hurriedly explained, "Boss, don't listen to this damned woman's nonsense. She's trying to sow discord between us."
"An explanation is just a cover-up. If you didn't have ulterior motives, why would you bother explaining?" Liu Anran said disdainfully.
"You..." The man was speechless with anger.
Liu Anran tightened her grip on the dagger, and the dagger pierced Liu Changqing's neck, blood flowing down the wound.
Liu Changqing's face was grim as he said coldly, "Woman, you're ruthless!"
A trace of sorrow, despair, and helplessness appeared on Liu Anran's face.
Is it ruthless?
Even the most ruthless are forced into it!
"All I want is to live well in this zombie-infested world with my son. I've managed to avoid zombies with him, enduring hunger and fear, and we're finally alive. It was you who provoked us first, leaving us no way to survive."
Liu Anran's eyes reddened as she spoke.
"Uncle, please, please let us go!" Yunlong pleaded, crying.
“Yunlong, it’s no use begging them, you mustn’t beg them,” Liu Anran said, her voice choked with sobs.
"Mom, I don't want to die, and I don't want you to die either. I haven't seen Dad yet, and I don't know what he looks like. Mom, didn't you say Dad was a great hero? Why didn't he come to save us?" Yunlong cried.
"Yunlong." Liu Anran looked at Yunlong helplessly, tears streaming down her face, and choked out, "It's because Mom didn't protect you well."
Looking at Liu Anran's beautiful face, which showed a weak and helpless expression, Liu Changqing felt a faint pity in his heart.
Holy crap! He actually feels sorry for a woman who's holding him hostage? That's unbelievable!
With tears blurring her vision, Liu Anran looked at Liu Changqing and said, "Release my son and let him leave, and we can discuss anything else."
“Alright!” Liu Changqing said.
Anyway, he didn't want to make things difficult for a child. Besides, even if he let the little brat go, he would be torn to pieces by the zombies and end up in their bellies sooner or later.
Liu Anran shouted at Yunlong, "Yunlong, run! Go where there are fewer zombies and find your father, Chu Yunxiao. He will protect you."
When Liu Changqing heard the name Chu Yunxiao, a look of shock appeared on his face. When did Chu Yunxiao get married and have children? How come he didn't know?
This mother and child were actually Chu Yunxiao's woman and child.
"Mom, I won't leave. I'm scared without you by my side. Mom, I don't want Dad anymore, I only want you," Yunlong said, crying.
Seeing Yunlong's sad, distressed, and frightened appearance, Liu Anran felt a pang of heartache. He was still so young; how could she let him face this terrifying world alone?
Thinking of this, Liu Anran released the dagger, ran to Yunlong's side, hugged him tightly, and cried sadly.
Why is living so difficult?
Liu Changqing picked up the dagger, examined it carefully, and then put it away.
Chu Yunxiao watched from afar as the mother and child embraced and wept bitterly, and walked towards them.
Liu Changqing looked at Chu Yunxiao, who was walking out of the shadows, and a look of surprise flashed across his eyes.

Liu Anran was dumbfounded. The male lead, Chu Yunxiao, was the father of her child?

Does that mean she and Yunlong are saved and won't have to face Liu Changqing anymore?
Yunlong exclaimed, "Mom, he said his name is Chu Yunxiao. Is he my dad?"
Liu Anran looked at Chu Yunxiao's face. Yunlong looked almost exactly like him, as if they were clones.
“He is your father,” Liu Anran said truthfully.
Chu Yunxiao looked at Yunlong and Liu Anran with a complicated expression before answering Liu Changqing: "Are we that close? Do I need to specifically inform you about my wedding?"
Liu Changqing scoffed coldly: "I was just curious and asking casually."
Chu Yunxiao snorted coldly, turned to look at Liu Anran and Yunlong, and said, "Come with me!"
Liu Changqing coldly said, "Wait, you can take the child with you." He then pointed at Liu Anran, "But this woman just agreed to stay with me, so she has to stay here."
